Light And Life Garden Update
**************************
Thanks to an Extremely Generous and Timely donation to the Cause, we were able to get the “Tractor Within” repaired this week. The rear axle and axle housing needed to be replaced as well as all the bearings. The tractor mechanic said he had never seen a rear axle and housing that badly damaged where the wheel hadn't broken off yet. Thank You God! It is now as Good as New and the constant threat of tumbling down the hillside is finally past. I was also able to get the two leaking hydraulic lines replaced, learn a Lot more about our tractor, replace the deteriorated seat, and get a new Swing Pin for the backhoe. Now all it really needs, besides a paint job, is a set of tire chains for winter use.
With the rest of the donation we were able to purchase 70 more 80lb bags of concrete to finish the concrete brick Patio overlooking the Faith Garden. As soon as I am finished here this morning I will be transformed into a Concrete Worker for the rest of the day… more likely the rest of the Week. ;-)
Well… there's No putting it off any longer… it is time to be about Our Father's business.

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

I would like to Sincerely Thank Minister Jill for today's Excellent Service on God's Grace. I know that I for One, would be Totally Lost, Lonely and Ineffective without it… wouldn't you?

(From: The RSV Bible - John 1:17 )
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-171 Section-7)
Jesus spread good cheer everywhere he went. He was full of grace and truth. His associates never ceased to wonder at the gracious words that proceeded out of his mouth. You can cultivate gracefulness, but graciousness is the aroma of friendliness which emanates from a love-saturated soul.

(From: The Post Falls TeaM - Mantutia 7-12-01)
Grace is free but the ability to receive Grace is earned constantly. It is the love and compassion and service that you have learned from God Himself.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-147 Section-8)
And then long into the night Jesus propounded to his apostles the truth that it was their faith that made them secure in the kingdom of the present and the future, and not their affliction of soul nor fasting of body. He exhorted the apostles at least to live up to the ideas of the prophet of old and expressed the hope that they would progress far beyond even the ideals of Isaiah and the older prophets. His last words that night were: "Grow in grace by means of that living faith which grasps the fact that you are the sons of God while at the same time it recognizes every man as a brother."

(From: The RSV Bible - Corinthians II 4:15 )
For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper 176- Section 3 )
Said Jesus that night as they went to their rest: "Freely have you received; therefore freely should you give of the truth of heaven, and in the giving will this truth multiply and show forth the increasing light of saving grace, even as you minister it."

The Sermon
***********
“There but for the Grace of God, go I,” is a quote each of us has used on occasion. Or, “There by the Grace of God, go I.” Remember the times?
It seems to me like we use that phrase mostly for rare experiences, like when something very scary occurs in our life and we “somehow” live through it…THANK GOD! or…when something “beyond belief” such as having a truly incredible personal dream--that we Never “dreamed” would come true--Does come true…THANK GOD!
I wonder how it is that we have, through these last 2000 years, learned to only think of God and his Daily Gifts in times of great tragedy or unbelievable “good luck.”
What IS the Grace of God to you? Most would probably initially refer to beautiful sunrises or sunsets; gorgeous flowers; ocean beaches. You know, “things” they experience externally. And all those wonders of our world are truly God's Grace bestowed upon us. But isn't it More?
What about we humans? What is Our Grace? Are we not filled with His Grace, too? Are we not Grace in action when we take time to invite God into our life as our pilot…to guide us on our daily journey to be His Love, His Compassion, His Mercy, His Kindness, His Caring, His thoughtfulness, His Generosity with our fellow brothers and sisters?
Are we not “filled” with His Grace at birth by the Truth that we Are His beloved child? Is it not His Grace we experience and then express to another each time we reach out in love to a friend, or even better, to a stranger? You've done that, haven't you? What about when you listen and give comfort to a friend in pain? What about when you are on the receiving end? Is it not also His Grace that allows us to accept kindness and love from another?
Do you think our days might feel a little lighter, a little brighter, a little happier, if we took time to recognize each moment of His Grace in our day, and Thank Him for each one, as it occurred?

*******************************************
The Prayer
**********
Beloved Father of us All, help us to remember Jesus' teachings of being Your Love in our every thought, word, and deed in every moment of every day; in other words, to live by your Grace that dwells within us as our birthright. Remind us gently to take time to acknowledge Glory to You, Praise to You, and to give Thanks to You at each moment of Grace we give or encounter from another. Thank you, Father.

Let us all be Gracious to one another,
Minister Jill

An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen.

The two elderly gentlemen were talking, and one said, "Last night we went out to a new restaurant, and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly."

The other man said, "What is the name of the restaurant?"

The first man thought and thought and finally said, "What is the name of that flower you give to someone you love? You know... the one that is red and has thorns."

        "Do you mean a rose?"

"Yes!" the man said. He turned toward the kitchen and yelled, "Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?"

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

You've heard the term, “Give 'till it Hurts.” haven't you?
Maybe it's just me, but I would think that a Lot more Giving would take place if people would Give 'till it Feels GOOD!

Service...
Giving what you don't have to give.
Giving when you don't need to give.
Giving because you want to give.

(From: The RSV Bible - Mark 12:42-44)
And a poor widow came, and put in two copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him, and said to them, "Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. For they all contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, her whole living."

(From: Kahlil Gibran)
Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need.

(From: The Post Falls TeaM - Aaron 7-24-01)
Well neigh all of you are now in a time of transition. It is a time for going within and seeking your Father's advice on preparing for your Personal Mission. For true it is, from here into Eternity, each of us in on a Personal Mission with God. The Father is the only one who will be with us each, throughout every single step of the way. That personal relationship with Father is what enhances all other personal relationships with everyone else. That relationship with Father is our opportunity to continually discover who we each really and truly are. We are all Children of God who are all in Love with one another. This is what is most needed on your world at this time, for people to learn to Love one another.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-176 Section-3)
"Freely have you received; therefore freely should you give of the truth of heaven, and in the giving will this truth multiply and show forth the increasing light of saving grace, even as you minister it."

How much would you Give for Eternal Life?

Would you Give All that you Have for it?

Would you Give All that you Are To it?

Would you Give All of your Love to Attain it?

Would you Give All of your Devotion to Guarantee it?

How much DO you Give for Eternal Life?

Enough ya think?

Should you Give More?

Could you give More?

What's it really Worth to you?

“Baptist Dog?”
This Baptist couple felt it important to own a Baptist pet, so they went shopping. At the kennel specializing in this particular breed, they found a dog they liked quite a lot. When they asked the dog to fetch the BIBLE, he did it in a flash. When they instructed him to look up Psalm 23, he complied equally fast, using his paws with dexterity. They were impressed, purchased the animal and went home.
That night they had friends over. They were so proud of their new Baptist dog and his major skills that they called the dog and showed him off a little. The friends were impressed, and asked whether the dog was able to do any of the usual dog tricks as well. This stopped the couple cold, as they hadn't thought about "normal" tricks.
"Well", they said, "Let's try it out."
Once more they called the dog, and they clearly pronounced the command, "Heel!" Quick as a wink, the dog jumped up, put his paw on the man's forehead, closed his eyes in concentration, and bowed his head. They had been deceived! Alas! He was Pentecostal !!

Sometimes it is difficult trying to figure out what to Do in life. Isn't it?

Quotes

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-140 Section-10)
That evening while teaching in the house, for it had begun to rain, Jesus talked at great length, trying to show the twelve what they must be, not what they must do. They knew only a religion that imposed the doing of certain things as the means of attaining righteousness--salvation. But Jesus would reiterate, "In the kingdom you must be righteous in order to do the work."

(From: Gandhi)
The outward freedom that we shall attain will only be in exact proportion to the inward freedom to which we may have grown at a given moment. And if this is a correct view of freedom, our chief energy must be concentrated on achieving reform from within.

(From: Gandhi)
We must become the change we wish to see.

For most of my life I was under the impression that just doing good things, good works, and good deeds was what would cause a person to be Good.

At some point, I realized that I had that Backwards.

Rather it is Just BEING Good that Causes a Person to do good things, good works, and good deeds.

Of COURSE!!! But then… you already Knew that, Didn't you.

Light And Life Garden Update
**************************
Since we were finally able to repair the bearings, rear axle and hydraulic lines of the church tractor many of you so generously helped to provide, it has been serving us Admirably! It has been working hard and without complaint on widening, leveling and smoothing out the upper drive, parking and storage areas. The concrete brick Patio overlooking the Faith Garden is nearing completion and soon we will be able to bring in and grade the topsoil for the adjacent grassy area. It will be a Great spot for small picnics and barbeques and such. Thank You All! This project would have been next to Impossible without your Loving help.
The Raspberries in the Faith Garden have finished producing their Luscious Fruits for this season and are continuing to produce the new canes for next year's Harvest. This year's crop came from only 10 plants and it appears as if we will have in excess of 50 fruit producers for Next year… Many of them are already 7-8 ft tall (Twice the size of this year's largest plant)! The Blueberry bushes we planted this spring have also nearly doubled in size so far and will likely be Heavy with Fruit next season as well. The 5 variety Apple tree has grown about 3½ feet in height and width this season as have the 3 Bing Cherry trees and the Pear trees. The Plum trees didn't fare as well as all the others this year. Only 2 have survived the hot dry Summer, but they appear happy and healthy and will likely start producing as early as next year.
We hope many of you will be able to visit/retreat with us next year and taste the Fruits of the Light and Life Garden!

"Be still and know that I am God."

The Sermon

Be still ... know ... I am God

Be still ... I am God

Be still ... I am

Be still ........

BE......................

When I was a child, my father was a typical father of his day. He spent most of his waking hours making a living for his family and maintaining the house and car. There was very little time left over for 'fun' activities. But every once in a while, when he was free and the weather was nice, Daddy would take all of us children down to the park and creek a short walk from our house. We could swing on the swings, go down the slide, run around a lot, pretend to play tennis on the old tennis court. But mostly we all wanted to fish. At first, we only had safety pins and string with tiny pieces of bacon or chicken necks for bait. Eventually we graduated to short cane poles with real hooks and bobbers. We would sit in the shade and wait patiently for those red corks to disappear, signaling that a tiny fish, hardly larger than the tiny bait, had bitten at our offering. We rarely caught fish big enough to keep or enough to make a meal. But that never really mattered. Besides, Momma hated to cook fish.

What mattered most to me and my sisters was time spent with Daddy. He fussed over the lines and poles, he baited our hooks so we didn't stick our little fingers. He watched over each of us while we fished, instructing us on the fine art of hooking tiny fish mouths. He was patient and loving. When we tired, he allowed us to sit in his lap while he held our pole. He gave us his whole attention for that Sunday afternoon. All my sisters and I treasure these memories of him. They are precious to each of us.

My father did his best in giving us his time and focused attention. He understood how important it is to spend regular time with his children, paying special attention to each one. Our Godly Father is perfect and beyond time. Yet he longs to spend time with us focused on just this one little child - me - and you. He knows that we are imperfect... like little children and yet lead busy 'adult' lives very limited by space and especially time. All I need to do to 'go fishing' with Daddy-God is to set aside that regular time so he can feed me what my soul craves - time with him alone. All it takes is a quiet place, a quiet time as often as can be set aside in our busy lives. I go fishing with my Daddy as much as I can. I need to 'fish' for my soul.

Be still and know.............
