Welcome by: Pastor Daniel

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to The Church that is Within.

Well... someone else beat us to the place we were looking to buy for the church. Sometimes it is disappointing to discover what wasn't or isn't God's Will. But, Should it be disappointing?

Sherlock Holmes would say, "Eliminate everything that isn't the solution, and what is left is."

We are yet one more step closer....

(from The Song of the Bird - by Anthony de Mello p.101)
A lover pressed his suit unsuccessfully for many months, suffering the atrocious pains of rejection. Finally his sweetheart yielded. "Come to such and such a place, at such and such an hour," she said to him.
At that time and place the lover finally found himself seated beside his beloved. He then reached into his pocket and pulled out a sheaf of love letters that he had written to her over the past months. They were passionate letters, expressing the pain he felt and his burning desire to experience the delights of love and union. He began to read them to his beloved. The hours passed by but still he read on and on.
Finally the woman said, "What kind of a fool are you? These letters are all about me and your longing for me. Well, here I am sitting with you at last and you are lost in your stupid letters."

"Here I am with you," says God, "and you keep reflecting about me in your head, talking about me with your tongue, and searching for me in your books. When will you shut up and see?"

(from: the KJV Bible - Luke 17:20-21)
And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

(from: the RSV Bible - Luke 11:41)
But give for alms those things which are within; and behold, everything is clean for you.

(from: The Urantia Papers - Paper-106 Section-9)
Sooner or later all universe personalities begin to realize that the final quest of eternity is the endless exploration of infinity, the never-ending voyage of discovery into the absoluteness of the First Source and Center. Sooner or later we all become aware that all creature growth is proportional to Father identification. We arrive at the understanding that living the will of God is the eternal passport to the endless possibility of infinity itself. Mortals will sometime realize that success in the quest of the Infinite is directly proportional to the achievement of Fatherlikeness, and that in this universe age the realities of the Father are revealed within the qualities of divinity. And these qualities of divinity are personally appropriated by universe creatures in the experience of living divinely, and to live divinely means actually to live the will of God.
To material, evolutionary, finite creatures, a life predicated on the living of the Father's will leads directly to the attainment of spirit supremacy in the personality arena and brings such creatures one step nearer the comprehension of the Father-Infinite. Such a Father life is one predicated on truth, sensitive to beauty, and dominated by goodness. Such a God-knowing person is inwardly illuminated by worship and outwardly devoted to the wholehearted service of the universal brotherhood of all personalities, a service ministry which is filled with mercy and motivated by love, while all these life qualities are unified in the evolving personality on ever-ascending levels of cosmic wisdom, self-realization, God-finding, and Father worship.

(from: the NASB Bible - Mark 9:50)
Salt is good; but if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.

The Sermon
***********
"Doing the Will of God"

What is that really? Many of the "churches", and indeed Far too many of their ministers, would have you believe that "Doing the Will of God" is doing what They tell you to do. In some cases, perhaps, that is partially true. But is that All of it? Certainly Not, ya Suppose?

"Doing the Will of God"

Is it all about reading this book or that? Memorizing chapter or page or verse? Knowing it well enough to quote it to others whenever the opportunity presents itself? Perhaps for some that may BE a part of "Doing the Will of God"... for them. But... could THAT be All of it? Surely there must be More... don't ya Think?

"Doing the Will of God"

It could be all about copying the life of Jesus or Budda or Any of the Masters... but to become a carbon copy of them? I don't Think so, or why would we each have such unique and individual personalities and life experiences and understandings? By chance could it be that "Doing the Will of God" is living my Own unique experience? But with the same Supreme Purpose and Dedication of the Masters? This feels to me like I am, as my dad used to say, "Missing it Closer." [translation: not yet dead center of the bullseye, but better than your last shot ;-)]

"Doing the Will of God"

Is it possible that "Doing the Will of God" is impossible for a human being? I wouldn't think so or why would we even be encouraged to try?

"Doing the Will of God"

I Love my son Dearly. There is nothing that gives me greater pleasure than to see him doing his very best... to see him learning from his mistakes... to see him continue to grow in understanding... to see him Try. He's a child still. [Aren't we all? ;-)] I don't expect him to Know everything yet, nor to be able to do everything yet... but seeing him Want to is my Joy of Parenthood.

"Doing the Will of God"

If we Learn from our mistakes... If we continue to grow in understanding... If we Try to, If we truly Want to, do the Will of God... Isn't that what God would expect of us, would Want of us?

"Doing the Will of God"

But, How can we Know... Who can we Ask... Who could know God's Will but God? It can be hard to Hear "the still small voice within"... more so when not listening for it. How often do we Ask God what His/Her Will IS for us? Never?... a couple times a year?... once a week?... once a day?... every hour?... every minute?... often enough?... Now?

"Doing the Will of God"

What is Your Will for me right now God?

Today's Service is offered by: Minister Jill Mary Megow

Welcome by: Minister Jill
************************
Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to The Church that is Within. This Sunday Pastor Daniel is away, in Vancouver, British Columbia to be exact. The Sunday service I have prepared for you is simple for me because it is a quote. However, where it may lead you could be a sacred journey.

It was read to us by one of our spiritual sisters at a conference we attended in June. Thank you, Frosty. It may be familiar to many of you. However, that does not make it any less impactful when embraced again, and again, and again.

So, take time to be in your special stillness for a few minutes and then embrace the message.

The Sermon - A Quote
**********************
The Invitation
By Oriah Mountain Dreamer
(A Native American Elder)

It doesn't interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for,
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.

It doesn't interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love,
for your dreams, for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring the moon.
I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow,
if you have been open to life's betrayals or have become
shriveled and closed from the fear of further pain.

I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own,
without moving to hide it, fade it, or fix it.

I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own,
if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you
to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, to be realistic, or to remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn't interest me if the story you're telling me is true.
I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself,
if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul.

I want to know if you can be faithful and therefore be trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see beauty even when it is not pretty every day, and if you can source your life from God's presence.

I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine,
and still stand on the edge of a lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, "Yes!"

It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done for the children.

It doesn't interest me who you are, how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me
and not shrink back.

It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away.

I want to know if you can be alone with yourself,
and if you truly like the company you keep in empty moments.

Quotes

(from: the Tao Te Ching - #54)
Whoever is planted in the Tao
will not be rooted up.
Whoever embraces the Tao
will not slip away.
Her name will be held in honor
from generation to generation.

Let the Tao be present in your life
and you will become genuine.
Let it be present in your family
and your family will flourish.
Let it be present in your country
and your country will be an example
to all countries in the world.
Let it be present in the universe
and the universe will sing.

How do I know this is true?
By looking inside myself.

(from: The Urantia Papers - Paper-156 Section-5)
The true believer does not grow weary in well-doing just because he is thwarted. Difficulty whets the ardor of the truth lover, while obstacles only challenge the exertions of the undaunted kingdom builder.

(from: The Urantia Papers - Paper-100 Section-6)
The marks of human response to the religious impulse embrace the qualities of nobility and grandeur. The sincere religionist is conscious of universe citizenship and is aware of making contact with sources of superhuman power. He is thrilled and energized with the assurance of belonging to a superior and ennobled fellowship of the sons of God. The consciousness of self-worth has become augmented by the stimulus of the quest for the highest universe objectives-- supreme goals.
The self has surrendered to the intriguing drive of an all-encompassing motivation which imposes heightened self-discipline, lessens emotional conflict, and makes mortal life truly worth living. The morbid recognition of human limitations is changed to the natural consciousness of mortal shortcomings, associated with moral determination and spiritual aspiration to attain the highest universe and superuniverse goals. And this intense striving for the attainment of supermortal ideals is always characterized by increasing patience, forbearance, fortitude, and tolerance.
But true religion is a living love, a life of service. The religionist's detachment from much that is purely temporal and trivial never leads to social isolation, and it should not destroy the sense of humor. Genuine religion takes nothing away from human existence, but it does add new meanings to all of life; it generates new types of enthusiasm, zeal, and courage.

(from: "The Center Within" p.100 - by Fred Harris and Byron Belitsos)
Call upon God and he will bring you peace. Ask for his peace and he will bring you forth upon the shore of a sea of bliss. Ask for guidance and he will guide you on the path of righteousness. Our Father is a God of love and he lets nothing befall his children that he does not know about. Our Father is a Lord of peace and brings to you that which he spreads over all the earth—his love, which has the ability to calm all souls and heal all wounds.
Our Father is a great God. Let us turn to him in times of trouble and in times of peace, in times of hunger and in times of satiation, in times of love and in times of want, in times of barrenness and in times of fulfillment. Every time in our lives when we have turned away from the Father, we could have had an easier day, our nights could have been shortened, and our years upon the Earth could have been lengthened if we had but reached for God.

The Sermon
***********
This last week I had the Supreme honor of attending an International Spiritual Conference at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver BC Canada. It was attended by people of all ages from all over the world... from all walks of life... rich and poor... famous and unknown. The diversity of their individual paths, and personal beliefs, and unique goals was astounding. Nearly Everyone, a Thousand or so individuals, mingled and interacted freely with one another in a loving, caring, sharing and accepting manner. It was an experience I shall not forget throughout all Eternity.

We shared the UBC Campus with countless students and with other conferences unrelated to our own, so it was a rather bustling place indeed. Name tags were worn by most of the attendees, and it was quite common to walk up to someone that you didn't know wearing a similar style name tag and introduce yourself. One knew others were safe to talk to, safe to share with, safe to love, if they had that name tag. Sometimes you would even walk up and start a conversation with someone not wearing a name tag if they just had "That Look" in their eyes... perhaps they just forgot to wear it, suppose? Quite often the "tagless" ones were not connected with "our" conference, but it didn't even matter because they were Still fun to talk to... to share with... to Love. It was an Incredible experience, and one that got me to thinking. What if Everyone on our planet wore a name tag? What if you could just walk up to Everyone you see and introduce yourself, and be interested in who they are... where they are from... where they are going in life? It would be pretty difficult to get everyone in the world to wear a name tag, wouldn't it? What if instead, we all took for granted that everyone on earth had an invisible name tag... one that identified them as God's child? Wouldn't that make it easier to walk up to someone you didn't know personally and introduce yourself... talk to them... share with them... Love them? It might even change the world.

"Hey! It could happen." Don't ya Think?

See the invisible name tag... and wear your own proudly.

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to The Church that is Within.

This weekend, we were a part of a 3 day Birthday Celebration for someone who was and Is very Special to us. The following Service is a transcription of the Live one we shared in at this Michael's Birthday Celebration.

Prayers for all of us who have our little things that we're each working through, which is a part of our Supreme growth, part of who we're becoming; we're not going to get there without our little struggles and difficulties, and things that irritate us. They are our lessons that we grow from.

MEDITATION
In meditation we compose ourselves to see how we are living. It is a time for self-discovery, self-forgetfulness, creative problem solving, a prayerfulness, and for that which spontaneously arises in our calm. Regular moments of profound reflection are necessary to recapture ourselves and the presence of our Source.
Sit straight and quiet in a comfortable place. Relax and be aware of your thoughts and feelings, meditating on them calmly. Review your actions, inspecting motives and values, and the love you show others. Close your meditation with a period of silent receptivity, and then apply your awarenesses in daily life.
Meditation refreshes us by reducing our confusion and fear, deepening our insights and providing illumination to inspire the soul, as well as relaxing us. We need time to ourselves and moments for peace. Through meditation we can grow and transform our lives.

(From: Frosty Johnson - 8/22/99)
Fill yourselves with Light. Let the luminous light go down your arms and become a solid ring of Light, each of us tapping into the other to form this solid ring of human Light that is fluid to go where it is needed. We may not know, but know that it is so happening that we will take it to where it is most needed. Release the Light. Notice how we are all still One as we form this circle. There are no barriers, no walls, nothing to fear. Everything is at peace and closure. No worry. No fear. All is as it should be. Allow your hearts to do your work for you. Notice that when you released the Light, you filled back up quickly, that the process is very simple. All it requires is motivation and intent.

(From: Mary Rogers - 8/22/99)
Dear Father, we are so fully aware that our feet are planted on this earth and in this ground. We are also aware that our hearts and spirits soar to You, your Majesty, your Glory, your Beauty, and your Goodness that pervade all of our reality. Help us draw in your beautiful energy to our own Being and reflect that Goodness and that Beauty in time and space where we are now planted. All of us are sending our hearts to you and are receiving your Love back into ours.         We know we are connected to those who are not physically present, just as we are connected to You, your Angels, your Celestial Helpers.          At this moment let us all join our hearts in Joy, Love and Celebration of this beautiful existence that we are all partaking of.

The Sermon
***********
We have a vision.

Here's what the vision looks like. We all want our planet to be healed and to feel the love that each one of us feels inside of our hearts.

That's our common vision.

Underneath that we each have our individual visions… the part that we can play in bringing this big vision to reality. We all work together, because we are all working toward the same Supreme Vision of a Healthy World with Healthy People.

Sometimes we cross-fertilize. We have our get-togethers and share where we have been and where we are going, what we are feeling. We learn new methods of growth from one another, inspire one another and get inspired ourselves, and go out and do more.

Look at some of the visions that are starting to seem like they are manifesting. We've each achieved certain plateaus in our visions and there is a certain amount of peace when we do that, but we know there is something More coming… and we've got to start picking up our tools for the next climb during this peaceful time. Being together like this, we can see the tools that each other are using… that we never would have thought of using. And we say to ourself, that's another tool I can take along on My journey… maybe make my own climb a little easier when I get to that rock face. Maybe I'll try the more difficult problems on the rock this time instead of the straight simple climb.

If you look at life all around us, many spiritual things seem to be happening kind of simultaneously. There's a little more peace where there once was none. I know perhaps that it may not last, but there Is a little more peace here now.

It is really good to get together with you all and share our visions together, our own parts of how we as individuals see we can be a part of the Great healing, and see that we are working out there together… in a far broader area. Each thing that each of us has to offer is Extremely Important in the Big Picture because those who want to help in the healing will be drawn to each one of us, and we to them. Those who need us, and whom We need, will be there, and we'll learn Great things from them and teach them what we know. And the world will grow, and it will grow faster because we're all giving love out... Together.

We're all just a bunch of Lovers,
and I Love You.

*******************************************

**********
Dear God,
Give us the strength to persevere against odds that seem beyond our own simple abilities, knowing that the parts we each are unable to accomplish on our own, You will provide the means according to Your Will for the Greatest Good.
        Thanks!

You ALL are Within the Infinitely Loving Embrace of our Universal Parent,

The Creator's Infinite Love, through me, to all of You,

"Children Learn More from Watching what you Do, than from Hearing what you Say."

(from: The Urantia Papers - Paper-48 Section-6)
Some day they will teach you to seek truth as well as fact, to expand your soul as well as your mind. Even now you should learn to water the garden of your heart as well as to seek for the dry sands of knowledge. Forms are valueless when lessons are learned. No chick may be had without the shell, and no shell is of any worth after the chick is hatched. But sometimes error is so great that its rectification by revelation would be fatal to those slowly emerging truths which are essential to its experiential overthrow. When children have their ideals, do not dislodge them; let them grow. And while you are learning to think as men, you should also be learning to pray as children.
Law is life itself and not the rules of its conduct. Evil is a transgression of law, not a violation of the rules of conduct pertaining to life, which is the law. Falsehood is not a matter of narration technique but something premeditated as a perversion of truth. The creation of new pictures out of old facts, the restatement of parental life in the lives of offspring--these are the artistic triumphs of truth. The shadow of a hair's turning, premeditated for an untrue purpose, the slightest twisting or perversion of that which is principle--these constitute falseness. But the fetish of factualized truth, fossilized truth, the iron band of so-called unchanging truth, holds one blindly in a closed circle of cold fact. One can be technically right as to fact and everlastingly wrong in the truth.

(from: The Urantia Papers - Paper-138 Section-7)
Jesus said: "My little children, how long shall I bear with you! Have I not made it plain to you that my kingdom is not of this world? I have told you many times that I have not come to sit on David's throne, and now how is it that you are inquiring which place each of you will occupy in the Father's kingdom? Can you not perceive that I have called you as ambassadors of a spiritual kingdom? Do you not understand that soon, very soon, you are to represent me in the world and in the proclamation of the kingdom, even as I now represent my Father who is in heaven? Can it be that I have chosen you and instructed you as messengers of the kingdom, and yet you do not comprehend the nature and significance of this coming kingdom of divine pre-eminence in the hearts of men? My friends, hear me once more. Banish from your minds this idea that my kingdom is a rule of power or a reign of glory. Indeed, all power in heaven and on earth will presently be given into my hands, but it is not the Father's will that we use this divine endowment to glorify ourselves during this age. In another age you shall indeed sit with me in power and glory, but it behooves us now to submit to the will of the Father and to go forth in humble obedience to execute his bidding on earth."

(from: The RSV Bible - John I 2:28)
And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming.

(from: "Correcting Time" p.281 ©1999 by Fred F. Harris Jr.)
"Faith in action, that's what each day should exemplify. You as a beacon for those in the darkness. You as a conduit for His love. You as an example of a person of integrity, knowledge, service and love. Your judgment can discern the path to the truth. Others will look to you and you will be there, solid as a rock, representing the Father's way. Light the way, many are ready to follow. That's faith in action.”

("Attitude" - by Charles Swindoll)
"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company....a church....a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude......I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you ....we are in charge of our Attitudes."

(from: "Popeye" - the cartoon show)
"Why... I Aughta..."

The Sermon
***********
Ya ever notice how people in general just love to tell other people how they should live? I wonder why that is? They are great at telling/advising you... how to stop doing something that they don't like... how to do something they really wish They could do... how to live Your life the way they wish the could live Theirs. Funny how that is, Isn't it? Is it? What is it that makes them think that they can have Any clue Whatsoever how to live Your life? Have they Lived through Your Experiences? Have they tasted the same Joys as You... the same Sorrows? Have they Endured the same Trials... the same Struggles... the same Injustices, as You have? Are they Experts at living their Own lives? Good thing You and I don't do that to others... isn't it? ;-)

Do you ever catch yourself, [very rarely of course now that we're growing to be such Spiritual and Loving and Compassionate Souls] giving someone unasked for and unwanted advice? Don'tcha Hate that? [...when ya catch yourself? <G>]

How about those times when, after you have Just finished telling someone the "best way" to do something, you realize that what you have told them is what You actually should be doing... TOTALLY Different CIRCUMSTANCES, of Course [ya Think?], but... Yeah... the Same Thing really. Are you able to laugh at yourself and then make the adjustment in your Own life? Almost usually Always sometimes now and then, huh? Yeah... It's a Tough one, isn't it?

When the Ego learns something New and Profound, it has a tendency to want to try and get Others to do it first so that it can experientially see if it works or not... for someone else. I wonder if it's a Great Fear of making mistakes or something... of being judged less than Perfect... of being criticized yet one more time... of admitting that "Maybe I don't really know what's going on Either." Ego gets SO Defensive sometimes, doesn't it? It's SO afraid to let anyone know that it doesn't know everything... Yeah, Right... AS IF!

Really Little children are Amazing. They Truly practice the Master's injunction to 'Fear not'. They will personally try just about Everything to see if, or how, it works... What does it Do? They are not concerned so much about making mistakes or about whether they will Fail or not... like "grownups" seem to be. I wonder if that's one of those "Unless you become as a little child" things?

Albert Einstein has been quoted as saying: "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." Suppose? What a Wise Man!

Making a mistake is nothing more than an opportunity for learning a new way how Not to do something. Each time we learn one of those, we're that one step closer to knowing how TO do it! [Like Ms. Frizzel says on 'The Magic Schoolbus' show, "Make Mistakes, Get Messy, Explore..."] "Fear Not." Learn, Grow, Experience!

Failing is no more than discovering another way that doesn't work. Isn't it Good to know what Doesn't work?

Isn't it Worth finding out what Doesn't work if it helps us to find out what DOES?

It works for Little Children...
