Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within. You are the Temple. You are the Congregation. Any and All Truth is the Gospel. The Divine Spirit within you is your True Minister.

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #946, is Sentiment…

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
Sentiment...

You can't create it... it Happens. Not a Memory... a Feeling. It's Source... an Experience of Love!

Sentiment resides in the Soul. It was Born in the Soul. It lives alongside others much like it.

Sentiments can work alone or together. They may Inspire us... They can Motivate us if we let them.

Do you let them? Do Yours move you into Action? Of Course they do, Right? Why would you Not? Why would They not?

Sentiments will stir our Emotions without our permission. Of course, we can shut them down if we want, but why would we want to do That?

Do you think that maybe God uses our Sentiments to show us things... to give us direction... to remind us of the Love we have experienced?

Are our Sentiments a way that God talks to us? Hmmm! I Wonder...

Quotes
*******
(From: Rabindranath Tagore )
“Love is the only reality and it is not a mere sentiment. It is the ultimate truth that lies at the heart of creation.”

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-100 Section-4)
Love is infectious, and when human devotion is intelligent and wise, love is more catching than hate. But only genuine and unselfish love is truly contagious. If each mortal could only become a focus of dynamic affection, this benign virus of love would soon pervade the sentimental emotion-stream of humanity to such an extent that all civilization would be encompassed by love, and that would be the realization of the brotherhood of man.

(From: Joseph Addison (1672 - 1719 )
From social intercourse are derived some of the highest enjoyments of life; where there is a free interchange of sentiments the mind acquires new ideas, and by frequent exercise of its powers, the understanding gains fresh vigor.

(From: Alphonse de Lamartine )
“Sentiment is the poetry of the imagination”

(From: Ralph Waldo Emerson )
“Every action is measured by the depth of the sentiment from which it proceeds”

(From: Voltaire )
“The sentiment of justice is so natural, and so universally acquired by all mankind, that it seems to be independent of all law, all party, all religion.”

(From: Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC), Analects, XIV.12 )
If a man remembers what is right at the sign of profit, is ready to lay down his life in the face of danger, and does not forget sentiments he has repeated all his life when he has been in strained circumstances for a long time, he may be said to be a complete man.

(From: Gustave Le Bon)
“Reason creates science; sentiments and creeds shape history”

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-100 Section-4)
You cannot truly love your fellows by a mere act of the will. Love is only born of thoroughgoing understanding of your neighbor's motives and sentiments. It is not so important to love all men today as it is that each day you learn to love one more human being.

(From: Ralph Waldo Emerson )
“We live by our imagination, our admirations, and our sentiments.”

(From: Samuel Johnson )
“That is the happiest conversation where there is no competition, no vanity, but a calm, quiet interchange of sentiments”

(From: Rayson 6/17/04 – the Denver TeaM)
Each smile, each tender word, each kindness can be multiplied. When you lighten someone's day, often in turn they will lighten the burden of another just by the overflowing of their uplifted souls. Children, within each of you is an eternal spirit longing to bring you into all life's goodness and sweetness. As you accept this gift it becomes one way in which the world becomes enlightened. Each of you willing to carry the torch of spirit on one's path lights the path for others. You know not and see not where the goodness often comes but overflow it does. The sentimental emotion stream is activated.

The Prayer

Dear God,
Play with my Sentiments. Help me to See through Your Eyes!

You ALL are Within the Infinitely Loving Embrace of our Universal Parent,

The Creator's Infinite Love to all of You,

Quotes
*******
(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-102 Section-3)
Religious experience is the realization of the consciousness of having found God. And when a human being does find God, there is experienced within the soul of that being such an indescribable restlessness of triumph in discovery that he is impelled to seek loving service-contact with his less illuminated fellows, not to disclose that he has found God, but rather to allow the overflow of the welling-up of eternal goodness within his own soul to refresh and ennoble his fellows. Real religion leads to increased social service.

(From: Francois de La Rochefoucauld (1613 - 1680 )
The pleasure of love is in loving.

(From: George Eliot (1819 - 1880 )
Blessed is the influence of one true, loving human soul on another.

(From: Thomas Hughes )
Blessed are they who have the gift of making friends, for it is one of God's best gifts. It involves many things, but above all, the power of going out of one's self, and appreciating whatever is noble and loving in another.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-160 Section-2)
Friendship enhances the joys and glorifies the triumphs of life. Loving and intimate human associations tend to rob suffering of its sorrow and hardship of much of its bitterness. The presence of a friend enhances all beauty and exalts every goodness.

(From: Anne-Sophie Swetchine )
To love deeply in one direction makes us more loving in all others.

(From: The KJV Bible - Psalm 143:8)
Cause me to hear thy loving kindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-110 Section-3)
…your motives and your decisions, your faithful determinations and your supreme desires, do constitute real and effective co-operation.

1. Choosing to respond to divine leading; sincerely basing the human life on the highest consciousness of truth, beauty, and goodness, and then co-ordinating these qualities of divinity through wisdom, worship, faith, and love.
2. Loving God and desiring to be like him--genuine recognition of the divine fatherhood and loving worship of the heavenly Parent.
3. Loving man and sincerely desiring to serve him--wholehearted recognition of the brotherhood of man coupled with an intelligent and wise affection for each of your fellow mortals.

(From: Iris Murdoch (1919 - 1999)
We can only learn to love by loving.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-142 Section-1)
Love is the rule of living within the kingdom--supreme devotion to God while loving your neighbor as yourself.

(From: Lao Tzu )
Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength; while loving someone deeply gives you courage.

(From: Emanuel Swedenborg (1688 - 1772 )
Real joy, which comes from loving to do good things without wanting to be repaid, is the reward that lasts forever.

(From: Ken Keyes Jr., Handbook of Higher Consciousness )
A loving person lives in a loving world. A hostile person lives in a hostile world. Everyone you meet is your mirror.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-133 Section-4)
Know you not that the mystery of eternal salvation dwells within your own soul? Do you not know that the God of heaven has sent his spirit to live within you, and that this spirit will lead all truth-loving and God-serving mortals out of this life and through the portals of death up to the eternal heights of light where God waits to receive his children?

(From: Meister Eckhart )
The eye by which I see God is the same as the eye by which God sees me. My eye and God's eye are one and the same-one in seeing, one in knowing, and one in loving.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-5 Section-1)
The great God makes direct contact with mortal man and gives a part of his infinite and eternal and incomprehensible self to live and dwell within him. God has embarked upon the eternal adventure with man. If you yield to the leadings of the spiritual forces in you and around you, you cannot fail to attain the high destiny established by a loving God as the universe goal of his ascendant creatures from the evolutionary worlds of space.

(From: Barbara De Angelis )
You never lose by loving. You always lose by holding back.

Loving!

The 2 questions I need to keep asking my self...

1.) Am I Loving?
2.) Am I Loving?

Am I Doing it enough? Could I be Loving More?

Am I Being it enough? Could I Be more Loving?

Do you ever need to ask Yourself those Questions?

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #948, is Dependence…

Quotes
*******
(From: “Jesus” - The Urantia Book - Paper-149 Section-6)
“When children are young and unthinking, they must necessarily be admonished to honor their parents; but when they grow older and become somewhat more appreciative of the benefits of the parental ministry and protection, they are led up, through understanding respect and increasing affection, to that level of experience where they actually love their parents for what they are more than for what they have done. The father naturally loves his child, but the child must develop his love for the father from the fear of what the father can do, through awe, dread, dependence, and reverence, to the appreciative and affectionate regard of love.

(From: The RSV Bible - Matthew 22:37-40)
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets."

(From: Seneca )
“True happiness is to understand our duties toward God and man; to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence on the future; not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears, but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is abundantly sufficient”

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-5 Section-6)
The morality of the religions of evolution drives men forward in the God quest by the motive power of fear. The religions of revelation allure men to seek for a God of love because they crave to become like him. But religion is not merely a passive feeling of "absolute dependence" and "surety of survival"; it is a living and dynamic experience of divinity attainment predicated on humanity service.

(From: D. H. Lawrence (1885 - 1930 )
It is a fine thing to establish one's own religion in one's heart, not to be dependent on tradition and second-hand ideals. Life will seem to you, later, not a lesser, but a greater thing.

(From: The Book of Runes -#14 - Opening / Fire/Torch )
Recognize that while on the one hand you are limited and dependent, on the other you exist at the perfect center where the harmonious and beneficent forces of the universe merge and radiate. You are that center.

(From: Ruth Ross )
All prosperity begins in the mind and is dependent only on the full use of our creative imagination.

(From: Ham 2/23/2003 – the Nashville TeaM)
As you increase your trust and dependence on God, you increase your own confidence and self-respect.

(From: “Jesus” - The Urantia Book - Paper-137 Section-8)
“Those who first seek to enter the kingdom, thus beginning to strive for a nobility of character like that of my Father, shall presently possess all else that is needful. But I say to you in all sincerity: Unless you seek entrance into the kingdom with the faith and trusting dependence of a little child, you shall in no wise gain admission.”

(From: Ham 8/15/2004 – the Nashville TeaM)
Therefore, freely acknowledge your need for guidance, freely seek it. Be uninhibited in your prayers. Be open to all that is coming into your mind through the Father's spiritual auspices. But above all, love God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. Then, will you come to know him and as you come to know him you will come to increasingly rely on him. This is the ultimate aim of your spiritual path, complete dependence and yet my friends in that dependence you will also find unparalleled levels of freedom and the thrill of ever greater spiritual discovery even while your heart is comforted by ever greater levels of love experience.

(From: William Wordsworth )
To character and success, two things, contradictory as they may seem, must go together . . . humble dependence on God and manly reliance on self.

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
Dependence upon God...

...not to give us all that we want, but everything we truly Need.

...to show us the Way.
...to give us the Strength.
...to provide us the Opportunity.
...to Love us Unconditionally.

But most do not have nearly enough...

Confidence...

What can you do without it?
What Would you attempt without it?

Are you Confident about few things... some things... many things... everything?

How Confident are you about your status with God?
Have you the Confidence of a Beloved Child?

Confidence is Faith.
Have you Faith?

Quotes

(From: “Jesus” - The Urantia Book - Paper-146 Section-3)
“No man is at any time disturbed by his neighbor's attitude when he has perfect confidence in the truth of that which he wholeheartedly believes. Courage is the confidence of thoroughgoing honesty about those things which one professes to believe. Sincere men are unafraid of the critical examination of their true convictions and noble ideals.”

(From: Eleanor Roosevelt (1884 - 1962 )
You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.

(From: The RSV Bible - Hebrews 13:6)
Hence we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid; what can man do to me?"

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-140 Section-8)
Have faith--confidence in the eventual triumph of divine justice and eternal goodness.

(From: Brian Adams )
Patience creates confidence, decisiveness, and a rational outlook, which eventually leads to success.

(From: King Whitney Jr. )
Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better. To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-111 Section-6)
It is only natural that mortal man should be harassed by feelings of insecurity as he views himself inextricably bound to nature while he possesses spiritual powers wholly transcendent to all things temporal and finite. Only religious confidence--living faith--can sustain man amid such difficult and perplexing problems.

(From: Helen Keller (1880 - 1968 )
Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.

(From: The RSV Bible - Hebrews 10:35-36)
Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that you may do the will of God and receive what is promised.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-102 Section-1)
Childlike trust secures man's entrance into the kingdom of heavenly ascent, but progress is wholly dependent on the vigorous exercise of the robust and confident faith of the full-grown man.

(From: Rosalynn Carter (1927 - )
You have to have confidence in your ability, and then be tough enough to follow through.

(From: Orison Swett Marden (1850 - 1924 )
We advance on our journey only when we face our goal, when we are confident and believe we are going to win out.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-196 Section-0)
Jesus does not require his disciples to believe in him but rather to believe with him, believe in the reality of the love of God and in full confidence accept the security of the assurance of sonship with the heavenly Father.

(From: The ASB Bible - John I 5:14)
This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
