Smith climbs to the top of Mt. Sinai to get close enough to talk to God.
Looking up, he asks the Lord. . . "God, what does a million years mean to you?"
The Lord replies, "A minute."
Smith asks, "And what does a million dollars mean to you?"
The Lord replies, "A penny."
Smith asks," Can I have a penny?"
The Lord replies, "In a minute".

Quotes
*******
(From: William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616), "The Merchant of Venice")

Though justice be thy plea, consider this,
That in the course of justice none of us
Should see salvation: we do pray for mercy;
And that same prayer doth teach us all to render
The deeds of mercy.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-178 Section-1)
Throughout the vicissitudes of life, remember always to love one another. Do not strive with men, even with unbelievers. Show mercy even to those who despitefully abuse you. Show yourselves to be loyal citizens, upright artisans, praiseworthy neighbors, devoted kinsmen, understanding parents, and sincere believers in the brotherhood of the Father's kingdom. And my spirit shall be upon you, now and even to the end of the world.

(From: Teacher Daniel - 7/19/92– the S.E. Idaho TeaM)
Know that you are part of a grand scheme that is built upon love and mercy. And it is through your giving of love and being merciful to others that you really begin to experience and understand with divine clarity.

(From: Bertrand Russell)
The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. The really important things are not houses and lands, stocks and bonds, automobiles and real state, but friendships, trust, confidence, empathy, mercy, love and faith.

(From: Monjoronson - 1/31/04– the Garden TeaM)
Let your faith carry you forward. Let your love flow without restraint. When you look upon any of your brothers and sisters, make every effort to look at them with eyes of mercy, with consideration for where they may have been and what they may have experienced. Show compassion with the passion that Jesus showed you in his life.

(From: The RSV Bible - Matthew 5:7)
"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.”

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-155 Section-6)
Never forget there is only one adventure which is more satisfying and thrilling than the attempt to discover the will of the living God, and that is the supreme experience of honestly trying to do that divine will. And fail not to remember that the will of God can be done in any earthly occupation. Some callings are not holy and others secular. All things are sacred in the lives of those who are spirit led; that is, subordinated to truth, ennobled by love, dominated by mercy, and restrained by fairness--justice.

(From: John Ruskin (1819 - 1900)
I believe that the first test of a truly great man is his humility. I don't mean by humility, doubt of his power. But really great men have a curious feeling that the greatness is not of them, but through them. And they see something divine in every other man and are endlessly, foolishly, incredibly merciful.

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #384, is Love and Fear …

********************************************
Quotes
*******
(From: George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950)

You are going to let the fear of poverty govern your life and your reward will be that you will eat, but you will not live.

(From: Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882 - 1945)

First of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-140 Section-4)
The happy and effective person is motivated, not by fear of wrongdoing, but by love of right doing.

(From: Joseph Chilton Pearce)
To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.

(From: Elizabeth Cady Stanton (1815 - 1902), 1890)
The moment we begin to fear the opinions of others and hesitate to tell the truth that is in us, and from motives of policy are silent when we should speak, the divine floods of light and life no longer flow into our souls.

(From: Frank Herbert (1920 - 1986)
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

(From: Abraham Lincoln (1809 - 1865)
It often requires more courage to dare to do right than to fear to do wrong.

(From: Ham - 1/19/97 – the Nashville TeaM)
Freedom from fear is truly spiritual freedom because it is not so much the circumstances that keep you in bondage, as your fear. It is fear that prevents you from taking the action or the decision that is necessary to break the pattern. Fear immobilizes you and keeps you bound in a never ending chain of cause and effect.

(From: Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
Fear is the main source of superstition, and one of the main sources of cruelty. To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom.

(From: The Bhagavad Gita as translated by Eknath Easwaran)
Fear Not. What is not real, never was and never will be. What is real, always was and cannot be destroyed.

(From: Voltaire (1694 - 1778)
...the safest course is to do nothing against one's conscience. With this secret, we can enjoy life and have no fear from death.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-157 Section-2)
Do not allow yourselves to become blinded by prejudice and paralyzed by fear. Neither permit reverence for the traditions so to pervert your understanding that your eyes see not and your ears hear not. It is not the purpose of true religion merely to bring peace but rather to insure progress. And there can be no peace in the heart or progress in the mind unless you fall wholeheartedly in love with truth, the ideals of eternal realities. The issues of life and death are being set before you--the sinful pleasures of time against the righteous realities of eternity. Even now you should begin to find deliverance from the bondage of fear and doubt as you enter upon the living of the new life of faith and hope. And when the feelings of service for your fellow men arise within your soul, do not stifle them; when the emotions of love for your neighbor well up within your heart, give expression to such urges of affection in intelligent ministry to the real needs of your fellows.

(From: Bertrand Russell)
To fear love is to fear life, and those who fear life are already three parts dead.

(From: Rodney Yee)
As we look deeply within, we understand our perfect balance. There is no fear of the cycle of birth, life and death. For when you stand in the present moment, you are timeless.

(From: The RSV Bible - Luke 12:32-34)
"Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give alms; provide yourselves with purses that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

(From: Marilyn Ferguson)
Ultimately we know deeply that the other side of fear is a freedom.

(From: Ham - 1/19/97 – the Nashville TeaM)
Spiritual progress is made up largely of the tasks of overcoming fears, one after another. Once the fear is removed from the equation, then you find yourself free to make decisions, different decisions, and these different decisions will lead you away from fear.
The only way to overcome fear is with love. Love is the only thing that replaces fear in the ascender's experience. If you don't replace fear with love, you will end up by simply replacing fear by fear. You may have experienced some of this already in your lives, but the only way to move forward in the spirit is to allow your Father to take your fears and replace those with love.

If you truly have Faith in the Infinite Love of God, what then is there ever to fear?

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #385, is Dedication…

********************************************
Quotes
*******
(From: Ham - 1/8/99 – the Pocatello TeaM)
Spiritual growth is dependent upon intention, motivation, dedication, persistence, and most of all, love.

(From: Cecil B. DeMille (1881 - 1959)
The person who makes a success of living is the one who see his goal steadily and aims for it unswervingly. That is dedication.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-1 Section-)
The affectionate dedication of the human will to the doing of the Father's will is man's choicest gift to God; in fact, such a consecration of creature will constitutes man's only possible gift of true value to the Paradise Father. In God, man lives, moves, and has his being; there is nothing which man can give to God except this choosing to abide by the Father's will, and such decisions, effected by the intelligent will creatures of the universes, constitute the reality of that true worship which is so satisfying to the love-dominated nature of the Creator Father.

(From: Ham - 12/1/02 – the Nashville TeaM)
Every person must heed their own inner calling, that voice of the spirit which prompts and leads and guides. For each person has a unique pathway to God, but as you live your lives in the spirit, that drawing power of the spirit is enhanced for those around you in so far as you are an inspiring example of someone who lives the ennobling and thrilling life of the spiritual quest.
Dedication to the spirit, total sincerity in your questing, and complete honesty with yourselves and the treacheries and pitfalls of life, these are the things which do change the world. You are each quiet ambassadors of a new and better world. You have each seen this world, visited there, and know for certain of its existence.

(From: Martin Luther King Jr.)
The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood.

(From: Dr. Thomas Dooley)
Dedicate some of your life to others. Your dedication will not be a sacrifice. It will be an exhilarating experience because it is an intense effort applied toward a meaningful end.

(From: Welmek - 7/18/02 – tmarchives.com)
I know there are times in your life when you think you have failed, stumbled, lost sight, misplaced hope about your lives. But I say to you, we do not look at you in this light. We see you as courageous, dedicated, questioning, learning, striving and walking in a realm where your certainty is always being tested. This takes great dedication - great strength of character to move against the tide of your culture, and to rise to a new level of awareness and living.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-132 Section-7)
That which the enlightened and reflective human imagination of spiritual teaching and leading wholeheartedly and unselfishly wants to do and be, becomes measurably creative in accordance with the degree of mortal dedication to the divine doing of the Father's will. When man goes in partnership with God, great things may, and do, happen.

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
For Today's Sermon, please truthfully answer the following questions:

1.) What does Dedication mean to you?

2.) Would you say that you are a Dedicated person?

3.) What is it that you are truly Dedicated to?

4.) Do you allow others to see your true Dedication?

5.) How Dedicated are you Really?

6.) How long did you have to think about the previous questions before you were able to answer them?

7.) Are you satisfied with your answers?

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

Once again, I have chosen to present Today's Sermon prior to the Quotes.

In this particular instance, I believe it better demonstrates the topic of today's Sunday Service.

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #386, is Experiencing Truth…

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
What is Truth to you?

Is it a blind repetition of what you have read, or been told, is the Truth?

Or, is it a Living Testimony of what you, through Faith, have Personally Experienced as being True?

Is there a significant difference?

What do You think?

Quotes
*******
(From: The RSV Bible - John 1:14)

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father.

(From: Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862)
Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.

(From: Sherlock Holmes - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859 - 1930)
...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

(From: Rene Descartes (1596 - 1650)
If you would be a real seeker after truth, it is necessary that at least once in your life you doubt, as far as possible, all things.

(From: Arthur Schopenhauer (1788 - 1860)
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-79 Section-8)
Truth is relative and expanding; it lives always in the present, achieving new expression in each generation of men--even in each human life.

(From: Henry Miller (1891 - 1980)
What does it matter how one comes by the truth so long as one pounces upon it and lives by it?

(From: Elizabeth Cady Stanton (1815 - 1902)
The moment we begin to fear the opinions of others and hesitate to tell the truth that is in us, and from motives of policy are silent when we should speak, the divine floods of light and life no longer flow into our souls.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-155 Section-6)
The religion of the spirit leaves you forever free to follow the truth wherever the leadings of the spirit may take you. And who can judge--perhaps this spirit may have something to impart to this generation which other generations have refused to hear?

(From: Bernard M. Baruch (1870 - 1965)
Approach each new problem not with a view of finding what you hope will be there, but to get the truth, the realities that must be grappled with. You may not like what you find. In that case you are entitled to try to change it. But do not deceive yourself as to what you do find to be the facts of the situation.

(From: Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955)
Truth is what stands the test of experience.

(From: Kahlil Gibran (1883 - 1931)
Say not, 'I have found the truth,' but rather, 'I have found a truth.'

(From: Johann Georg von Zimmermann)
Be not so bigoted to any custom as to worship it at the expense of truth.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-155 Section-6)
You must cease to seek for the word of God only on the pages of the olden records of theologic authority. Those who are born of the spirit of God shall henceforth discern the word of God regardless of whence it appears to take origin. Divine truth must not be discounted because the channel of its bestowal is apparently human. Many of your brethren have minds which accept the theory of God while they spiritually fail to realize the presence of God. And that is just the reason why I have so often taught you that the kingdom of heaven can best be realized by acquiring the spiritual attitude of a sincere child. It is not the mental immaturity of the child that I commend to you but rather the spiritual simplicity of such an easy-believing and fully-trusting little one. It is not so important that you should know about the fact of God as that you should increasingly grow in the ability to feel the presence of God.

(From: Mahatma Gandhi (1869 - 1948)
In the attitude of silence the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. Our life is a long and arduous quest after Truth.

(From: Solonia - 2/7/04 The Garden TeaM)
The Truth is, you can discover goodness wherever you look and discovering goodness is a very energizing form of discovering Truth. Look for beauty, look for goodness, look always for love, and you will find Truth.

(From: Galileo Galilei (1564 - 1642)
All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-103 Section-9)
When theology masters religion, religion dies; it becomes a doctrine instead of a life. The mission of theology is merely to facilitate the self-consciousness of personal spiritual experience. Theology constitutes the religious effort to define, clarify, expound, and justify the experiential claims of religion, which, in the last analysis, can be validated only by living faith. In the higher philosophy of the universe, wisdom, like reason, becomes allied to faith. Reason, wisdom, and faith are man's highest human attainments. Reason introduces man to the world of facts, to things; wisdom introduces him to a world of truth, to relationships; faith initiates him into a world of divinity, spiritual experience.

(From: The RSV Bible - John 4:23-24)
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for such the Father seeks to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-180 Section-5)
Divine truth is a spirit-discerned and living reality. Truth exists only on high spiritual levels of the realization of divinity and the consciousness of communion with God. You can know the truth, and you can live the truth; you can experience the growth of truth in the soul and enjoy the liberty of its enlightenment in the mind, but you cannot imprison truth in formulas, codes, creeds, or intellectual patterns of human conduct.

(From: Katherine Mansfield (1888 - 1923)
Risk! Risk anything! Care no more for the opinions of others, for those voices. Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself. Face the truth.

(From: Voltaire (1694 - 1778)
Love truth, and pardon error.

(From: Solonia - 2/7/04 The Garden TeaM)
The greatest Truth that you can discover in your mortal life is that you are loved. You always have been and into eternity you shall be.

(From: The RSV Bible - John 8:32)
…and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

An Irish priest is driving down to New York and gets stopped for speeding. The state trooper smells alcohol on the priest's breath and then sees an empty wine bottle on the floor of the car.

He says, "Sir, have you been drinking?"

"Just water," says the priest.

The trooper says, "Then why do I smell wine?"

The priest looks at the bottle and says, "Good Lord! He's done it again!"

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

In my eagerness for the arrival of Spring, I discovered that this week both Home Depot and Lowe's Home Improvement Centers began getting their shipments of “bare-root” plants and trees. Being unable to resist the opportunity, I purchased two English Walnut trees for the “Light and Life Sanctuary.” Most nut trees do better in warmer climates than ours in North Idaho, so discovering that these particular nut trees Flourish in environments such as ours was an exciting find---especially finding them as bare-roots which are considerably less expensive than potted trees! Bare-root trees (usually available only until May) range in cost from $13.00 to $25.00 each, in comparison to potted trees (after May) which range from $25.00 to over $50.00 a piece. Berry plants (Blueberry, Raspberry, Blackberry, etc.), range from $5.00-$10.00 each.

Due to much clearing and preparation of land last year, we now have an abundance of room for the planting of new Fruit and Decorative trees, as well as Roses, Hedge shrubbery (10-15 dollars each), and other new landscaping endeavors. As you may well imagine, it is a rather expensive undertaking in addition to it's being somewhat labor intensive with planting, irrigation and maintenance. That said, Tree Donations for the Beautification of the Light and Life Sanctuary are now being accepted by the Church Within. If you wish to donate to the purchase of a “Tree” or a “Rose” bush (please designate), your name will be displayed near the tree/rose that you made possible----(ie: This ________ Tree/Rose was Donated by: _________) or (This _______ Tree/Rose was planted In Memory of: ________). Donations designated “General Landscape” will be used for Hedges, irrigation supplies, decorative rock, grass sod, fencing or other associated landscaping expenses. Undesignated donations will be used for general maintenance and church expenses. All donations are tax deductible. Thank You!

Whatever their future, at the dawn of their lives, men seek a noble vision of man's nature and of life's potential

(From: H. Jackson Browne Jr.)
People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they're not on your road doesn't mean they've gotten lost.

(From: Lao-tzu (604 BC - 531 BC)
Seek not happiness too greedily, and be not fearful of happiness.

(From: Robert F. Kennedy (1925 - 1968)
Few men are willing to brave the disapproval of their fellows, the censure of their colleagues, the wrath of their society. Moral courage is a rarer commodity than bravery in battle or great intelligence. Yet it is the one essential, vital quality for those who seek to change a world which yields most painfully to change.

(From: Cicero (106 BC - 43 BC)
The first duty of a man is the seeking after and the investigation of truth.

(From: The RSV Bible - Matthew 7:7-8)
"Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-140 Section-5)
The poor in spirit seek for goals of spiritual wealth--for God. And such seekers after truth do not have to wait for rewards in a distant future; they are rewarded now. They find the kingdom of heaven within their own hearts, and they experience such happiness now.

(From: A. Lawrence Lowell (1856 - 1943)
Pleasure is a by-product of doing something that is worth doing. Therefore, do not seek pleasure as such. Pleasure comes of seeking something else, and comes by the way.

(From: John Keats (1795 - 1821)
Don't be discouraged by a failure. It can be a positive experience. Failure is, in a sense, the highway to success, inasmuch as every discovery of what is false leads us to seek earnestly after what is true, and every fresh experience points out some form of error which we shall afterwards carefully avoid.

(From: Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC), The Confucian Analects)
The determined scholar and the man of virtue will not seek to live at the expense of injuring their virtue. They will even sacrifice their lives to preserve their virtue complete.

(From: The RSV Bible - John 7:18)
He who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.

(From: Anastacia & Ordon 6/23/93 – the Dallas TX TeaM)
In accordance with the work you put forth to seek God this will be the same degree of perseverance that you reach out to help others. For in loving the Father you are loving your fellowmen as yourself. Your goals reflect this reproduction in your actions.

(From: Jarel - 2/6/94– the Arcadia TeaM)
Here is where you seek to know His will. Should you do thus and so, should you take this action in regards to the circumstances. Should you feel emotionally or spiritually a certain way about the event that entered your existence. The guidance that comes to you is not of a phenomenon nature, it is often very subtle. Very small assurances that you are proceeding correctly. You must make an effort. You must move in a direction. You must make a decision to allow the guidance in your being. You must submit your self to the guidance. Here you will find an easement in the confusion of, am I doing His will. You will be guided. The decision will be made The action will be taken. Now look for the good to come from those decisions, those actions, those feelings. You will know that the Father has guided you aright.

(From: The RSV Bible - Luke 12:29-32)
And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be of anxious mind. For all the nations of the world seek these things; and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things shall be yours as well. "Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-155 Section-1)
"Let me emphatically state this eternal truth: If you, by truth co-ordination, learn to exemplify in your lives this beautiful wholeness of righteousness, your fellow men will then seek after you that they may gain what you have so acquired.

(From: Matsuo Basho)
