Change

Some hate it...
Some fear it...
Some hide from it...
Some avoid it...
Some deal with it...
Some need it...
Some accept it...
Some expect it...
Some anticipate it...
Some look for it...
Some fancy it...
Some desire it...
Some yearn for it...
Some love it.

None are indifferent to it.

I will let the Quotes tell the rest of it...

It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.

Disconnecting from change does not recapture the past. It loses the future.

If you don't fully accept a situation precisely the way it is, you will have difficulty changing it. Moreover, if you don't fully accept the situation, you will never really know if the situation should be changed.

(From: Nancy Astor (1879 - 1964)
The main dangers in this life are the people who want to change everything - or nothing.

(From: Georg Christoph Lichtenberg (1742 - 1799)
I cannot say whether things will get better if we change; what I can say is they must change if they are to get better.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-140 Section-4)
Personality is basically changeless; that which changes — grows — is the moral character.

It's not that some people have willpower and some don't. It's that some people are ready to change and others are not.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-180 Section-5)
Love, unselfishness, must undergo a constant and living readaptative interpretation of relationships in accordance with the leading of the Spirit of Truth. Love must thereby grasp the ever-changing and enlarging concepts of the highest cosmic good of the individual who is loved. And then love goes on to strike this same attitude concerning all other individuals who could possibly be influenced by the growing and living relationship of one spirit-led mortal's love for other citizens of the universe

(From: Katherine Mansfield (1888 - 1923)
Could we change our attitude, we should not only see life differently, but life itself would come to be different. Life would undergo a change of appearance because we ourselves had undergone a change in attitude.

(From: Madeleine L'Engle (1918 - ), An Acceptable Time)
Truth is eternal, knowledge is changeable. It is disastrous to confuse them.

(From: Gail Sheehy)
If we don't change, we don't grow. If we don't grow, we aren't really living.

(From: Steve Jobs (1955 - 2011)
Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.

From: The Urantia Book - Paper-147 Section-3)
None of us can do much to change the difficulties of life unless we discover the Father in heaven so wills. After all, we are all beholden to do the will of the Eternal. If you could all be healed of your physical afflictions, you would indeed marvel, but it is even greater that you should be cleansed of all spiritual disease and find yourselves healed of all moral infirmities. You are all God's children; you are the sons of the heavenly Father. The bonds of time may seem to afflict you, but the God of eternity loves you.

Humor of the Week
*****************
Humor should function as an automatic safety valve to prevent the building up of excessive pressures due to the monotony of sustained and serious self-contemplation in association with the intense struggle for developmental progress and noble achievement. Humor also functions to lessen the shock of the unexpected impact of fact or of truth, rigid unyielding fact and flexible ever-living truth. The mortal personality, never sure as to which will next be encountered, through humor swiftly grasps — sees the point and achieves insight — the unexpected nature of the situation be it fact or be it truth.
(UB 48-4)

The Sunday School teacher was describing how Lot's wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt, when little Jason interrupted, "My Mommy looked back once while she was driving," he announced triumphantly, "And she turned into a telephone pole!"

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within. You are the Temple. You are the Congregation. Any and All Truth is the Gospel. The Divine Spirit within you is your True Minister.

I originally started out with the idea of doing today's service with the topic of, intuition... but the right quotes were difficult to find and they more often than not were referring to the word....

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #847, is Insight…

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
We all recognize the value and the importance of Insight. Don't we? Feels Great when you get one doesn't it? Wouldn't it be great if Insight were more plentiful? You know where to get it don't you?

The best, perhaps Only way to gain Insight is to look within... find that Resident spark of God that lives with you. It is from our Inner Spirit that we experience Insight.

Perhaps that is why it is called In-Sight... do you think?

Quotes
*******
(From:
Marshall McLuhan)
“A point of view can be a dangerous luxury when substituted for insight and understanding.”

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-16 Section-7)
Intelligence alone cannot explain the moral nature. Morality, virtue, is indigenous to human personality. Moral intuition, the realization of duty, is a component of human mind endowment and is associated with the other inalienables of human nature: scientific curiosity and spiritual insight.

(From: The RSV Bible - Proverbs 4:7-8)
The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight. Prize her highly, and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you embrace her.

(From: Sri Sathya Sai Baba)
“Your sight must become an insight; it must be turned within and used to purify and clarify your mind.”

(From: Fritjof Capra, physicist)
During periods of relaxation after concentrated intellectual activity, the intuitive mind seems to take over and can produce the sudden clarifying insights which give so much joy and delight.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-1 Section-6)
The prepersonal divine spirit which indwells the mortal mind carries, in its very presence, the valid proof of its actual existence, but the concept of the divine personality can be grasped only by the spiritual insight of genuine personal religious experience.

(From:
Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. (1841 - 1935)
A moment's insight is sometimes worth a lifetime's experience.

(From: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe)
“The man with insight enough to admit his limitations comes nearest to perfection.”

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-52 Section-6)
Only moral beings will ever seek for that spiritual insight which is essential to living the golden rule.

(From: Sam Veda)
“Peace of mind happens to a man only after he has developed deep insight, only after he starts seeing the things in the right perspective. ”

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-101 Section-1)
Religion lives and prospers, then, not by sight and feeling, but rather by faith and insight. It consists not in the discovery of new facts or in the finding of a unique experience, but rather in the discovery of new and spiritual meanings in facts already well known to mankind.

(From: Vincent van Gogh (1853 - 1890)
If one is master of one thing and understands one thing well, one has at the same time, insight into and understanding of many things.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-2 Section-7)
The religious challenge of this age is to those farseeing and forward-looking men and women of spiritual insight who will dare to construct a new and appealing philosophy of living out of the enlarged and exquisitely integrated modern concepts of cosmic truth, universe beauty, and divine goodness. Such a new and righteous vision of morality will attract all that is good in the mind of man and challenge that which is best in the human soul. Truth, beauty, and goodness are divine realities, and as man ascends the scale of spiritual living, these supreme qualities of the Eternal become increasingly co-ordinated and unified in God, who is love.

(From: The RSV Bible - Proverbs 9:6)
Leave simpleness, and live, and walk in the way of insight."

The Prayer

Dear God,
You are the Source of all Insight... help us to not block it out so effectively.

You ALL are Within the Infinitely Loving Embrace of our Universal Parent,

(From:
C. S. Lewis (1898 - 1963 )
I have found a desire within myself that no experience in this world can satisfy; the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.

(From: Carl Jung (1875 - 1961 )
I could not say I believe. I know! I have had the experience of being gripped by something that is stronger than myself, something that people call God.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-1 Section-2)
Those who know God have experienced the fact of his presence; such God-knowing mortals hold in their personal experience the only positive proof of the existence of the living God which one human being can offer to another.

(From: John Stuart Mill (1806 - 1873 )
There are many truths by which the full meaning cannot be realized until personal experience has brought it home.

(From: Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955 )
The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science.

(From: Frank Herbert (1920 - 1986), Dune (Reverend Mother Mohiam )
The mystery of life isn't a problem to solve, but a reality to experience.

(From: Vernon Sanders Law )
Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards.

(From: Olivier )
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-99 Section-2)
Only the real religion of personal spiritual experience can function helpfully and creatively in the present crisis of civilization.

(From: Joseph Addison (1672 - 1719 )
If you wish success in life, make perseverance your bosom friend, experience your wise counselor, caution your elder brother and hope your guardian genius.

(From: Dr. Thomas Dooley )
Dedicate some of your life to others. Your dedication will not be a sacrifice. It will be an exhilarating experience because it is an intense effort applied toward a meaningful end.

(From: Rodin (1840 - 1917 )
Nothing is a waste of time if you use the experience wisely.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-99 Section-5)
Since true religion is a matter of personal spiritual experience, it is inevitable that each individual religionist must have his own and personal interpretation of the realization of that spiritual experience. Let the term “faith” stand for the individual's relation to God rather than for the creedal formulation of what some group of mortals have been able to agree upon as a common religious attitude

(From: Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955 )
Truth is what stands the test of experience.

(From: Denis Waitley )
Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.

(From: Anton Chekhov (1860 - 1904 )
Perhaps the feelings that we experience when we are in love represent a normal state. Being in love shows a person who he should be.

(From: Socrates (469 BC - 399 BC )
The shortest and surest way to live with honor in the world is to be in reality what we would appear to be; all human virtues increase and strengthen themselves by the practice and experience of them.

(From: John Keats (1795 - 1821 )
Don't be discouraged by a failure. It can be a positive experience. Failure is, in a sense, the highway to success, inasmuch as every discovery of what is false leads us to seek earnestly after what is true, and every fresh experience points out some form of error which we shall afterwards carefully avoid.

(From: Orison Swett Marden (1850 - 1924 )
Every experience in life, everything with which we have come in contact in life, is a chisel which has been cutting away at our life statue, molding, modifying, shaping it. We are part of all we have met. Everything we have seen, heard, felt, or thought has had its hand in molding us, shaping us

(From: William E. Channing)
Nothing which has entered into our experience is ever lost.

(From: Raymond Holliwell )
Each experience through which we pass operates ultimately for our good. This is a correct attitude to adopt and we must be able to see it in that light.

(From: John R. Miller )
If you will call your troubles experiences, and remember that every experience develops some latent force within you, you will grow vigorous and happy, however adverse your circumstances may seem to be.

(From: “Jesus” - The Urantia Book - Paper-155 Section-6)
I have called upon you to be born again, to be born of the spirit. I have called you out of the darkness of authority and the lethargy of tradition into the transcendent light of the realization of the possibility of making for yourselves the greatest discovery possible for the human soul to make — the supernal experience of finding God for yourself, in yourself, and of yourself, and of doing all this as a fact in your own personal experience. And so may you pass from death to life, from the authority of tradition to the experience of knowing God; thus will you pass from darkness to light, from a racial faith inherited to a personal faith achieved by actual experience; and thereby will you progress from a theology of mind handed down by your ancestors to a true religion of spirit which shall be built up in your souls as an eternal endowment.

The Sermon
***********
Experience
Children thirst for it... every new day for a child brings with it an expectation of... an anticipation for... an eagerness to acquire new Experiences. Children do not fear it, they expect it... even rely upon it. It is the only way they can learn... the only way they can understand...

Many adults have a tendency to link Experience with the negative or with the painful episodes of life. Perhaps they are merely the ones easier to remember, or maybe those types of Experiences just make better, or more interesting stories to tell. Human fear undoubtedly plays it's role in the memory process. In reality our positive, our wonderful, our thrilling Experiences shape our lives even more certainly. Possibly it is because they are the hoped for if not expected results... we tend to take many of them for granted and move on to the next without a backward glance. And yet they are there... always working in the background. They keep us moving forward... keep us learning and growing even when the memory of our painful Experiences may tend to inhibit our behavior.

Do you remember the eagerness you had as a child for new and different Experiences? Is it not That, that we miss most about our youth? Spiritually we are but little children... but we are God's little children. If we could but maintain a childlike eagerness and excitement for Spiritual Experiences, would we not be addressing that “Unless you become as little children...” thing?

Quotes

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-48 Section-8)
It is the design of the Creators to afford the creatures of time a graduated opportunity to master the details of the operation and administration of the grand universe, and this long course of training is best carried forward by having the surviving mortal climb up gradually and by actual participation in every step of the ascent.

(From: Ralph Cudworth )
“Now all the knowledge and wisdom that is in creatures, whether angels or men, is nothing else but a participation of that one eternal, immutable and increased wisdom of God.”

(From: Abraham 7/15/96 – the Woods Cross TeaM)
Mortals do participate in the writing of the novel of their divine destiny.

(From: John Dewey )
“Such happiness as life is capable of comes from the full participation of all our powers in the endeavor to wrest from each changing situations of experience its own full and unique meaning.”

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-117 Section-5)
When the creature submits to the will of the Creator, he does not submerge or surrender his personality; the individual personality participants in the actualization of the finite God do not lose their volitional selfhood by so functioning. Rather are such personalities progressively augmented by participation in this great Deity adventure; by such union with divinity man exalts, enriches, spiritualizes, and unifies his evolving self to the very threshold of supremacy.

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
Does Life seem to just carry you along with it giving you little choice to alter the course... or do you actively Participate in it's unfoldment?

Participation is always a choice. Although there are instances where a person or persons may be forced to Participate in something contrary to their choices, it's not genuinely Participation in the truest sense of the word.

Participation is a joint effort between two or more individuals. We can participate with one another in so many different ways and often we do... but so many times we do not. But that is as it should be... we must each choose for ourselves the things we will Participate in and with whom we shall Participate. Our individual personalities and our personal uniqueness determine the directions of our Participation efforts... so Also does our personal relationship with God. Whenever there is loving Participation, God too Participates.

Do you feel it when God Participates with you, or have you not thought about it much? The artist feels it in those moments of inspiration... those things that you do effortlessly and joyfully are your art. You Have felt it, haven't you? ...God's Participation? Think about it!

Do you feel like you Participate with God? ...Participate in the unfolding of God's Will? We are all capable of it you know... we all have that ability within us. Our personal quest for Truth, Beauty, Goodness and Love is just that... Participation with God! How much more Satisfying life would be were we continually aware of it?

Be Aware!
