1-3-99 Sunday Service of Church Within #119
Today's Service is offered by: Pastor Daniel J. Megow

Greetings my Dearest Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to The Church that is Within.

I believe that Really getting to Know God is a unique and Personal, Spiritual Religious Experience. You can't just get it from a Book... you can't get it by simply listening to or imitating another. The experience must be Yours... and it must be your Conscious Choice... and it must be a Continual Process... and it must be WITH God rather than "about" God. That's what works for Me anyways...

(from: the Tao Te Ching - #55)
The Master's power is like this.
He lets all things come and go
effortlessly, without desire.
He never expects results;
thus he is never disappointed.
He is never disappointed;
thus his spirit never grows old.

(from: The Urantia Papers - Paper-2 Section-6 Para-1)
In the physical universe we may see the divine beauty, in the intellectual world we may discern eternal truth, but the goodness of God is found only in the spiritual world of personal religious experience. In its true essence, religion is a faith-trust in the goodness of God. God could be great and absolute, somehow even intelligent and personal, in philosophy, but in religion God must also be moral; he must be good. Man might fear a great God, but he trusts and loves only a good God. This goodness of God is a part of the personality of God, and its full revelation appears only in the personal religious experience of the believing sons of God.

(from: The Urantia Papers - Paper-196 Section-3 Para-1)
Personal, spiritual religious experience is an efficient solvent for most mortal difficulties; it is an effective sorter, evaluator, and adjuster of all human problems. Religion does not remove or destroy human troubles, but it does dissolve, absorb, illuminate, and transcend them.

(from: The Urantia Papers - Paper-101 Section-8 Para-2)
Belief is always limiting and binding; faith is expanding and releasing. Belief fixates, faith liberates. But living religious faith is more than the association of noble beliefs; it is more than an exalted system of philosophy; it is a living experience concerned with spiritual meanings, divine ideals, and supreme values; it is God-knowing and man-serving. Beliefs may become group possessions, but faith must be personal. Theologic beliefs can be suggested to a group, but faith can rise up only in the heart of the individual religionist.

(from: The RSV Bible - James 2:18 )
But some one will say, "You have faith and I have works." Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith.

(from: The Urantia Papers - Paper-99 Section-5 Para-7)
Just as certainly as men share their religious beliefs, they create a religious group of some sort which eventually creates common goals. Someday religionists will get together and actually effect co-operation on the basis of unity of ideals and purposes rather than attempting to do so on the basis of psychological opinions and theological beliefs. Goals rather than creeds should unify religionists. Since true religion is a matter of personal spiritual experience, it is inevitable that each individual religionist must have his own and personal interpretation of the realization of that spiritual experience. Let the term "faith" stand for the individual's relation to God rather than for the creedal formulation of what some group of mortals have been able to agree upon as a common religious attitude. "Have you faith? Then have it to yourself."

The Sermon
"You put your Right foot In... you pull your Right foot Out... you put out Left foot In..."

Personal, Spiritual Religious Experience

Personal, Spiritual Religious Experience

Personal, Spiritual Religious Experience

(A Personal, Spiritual Religious Experience)
I remember the first time I recognized I could give things over to God to handle when I couldn't handle them myself. WOW!! Now THAT was Cool! It was no longer Totally all resting on my Own Shoulders. For those things that once in a while just brought me to my knees in "I can't Take it anymore"s, I began the process of, Giving 'em t' God. And it Worked EVERY Time! I SurVived them! Still fought like the dickens with everything Else though. I had to be Pretty Durn Low to let Go of it by God!... or was it, To God? WhatEver...

(A Personal, Spiritual Religious Experience)
I remember the first time I recognized that I could "Give it All to God". WOW!! Now THAT was TOTALLY Cool I thought! From that time, I began having instances of "What would God want me to do in this situation?" pop into my head... and then I would really try to think about it and try to do it the Right way, the Good Way. These experiences were very few and far between at first, but I found that the more often I would choose God's Way, the closer together these experiences Came. 'Course I Still hung on to a few of the really Sticky ones... You Know... the ones you'd Much rather handle yourself without God watching. Anyways...

(A Personal, Spiritual Religious Experience)
I remember the first time I recognized that really and truly, Deep Down in my Heart, my Soul, I "KNEW" that God would Only want for me, and from me, those things that would make me Happy, Whole and Satisfied. And that if I could Just go along with God's way ALL of the time... I could have Any of my Soul's Truest Longings. WOW!! Cool didn't Cut it this time... AWEsome was the only way to describe it. It was No longer a fierce struggle between right and wrong. The struggle, the Effort was now in choosing between satisfactory
and better... between better and Best. No longer was there a Question about choosing between Good and evil... Why in God's Name would I even Think about purposefully doing something Evil or something to Hurt someone else? Then Why am I Still given SO many new opportunities to Choose between Good and evil? Could it be that God doesn't Trust me yet... or, is it... that I always need Exercise, so that I may continue to Strengthen in my Resolve... to keep me from getting Weak and Flabby from complacent inactivity... to keep me Growing?

So... what could possibly come Next... and after That... and after THAT... and... ? I shall not Rest until I Discover it for myself! It must be... Is there a word that means better than Awesome? Yes... That word would have to be Humble. To Personally discover God is a very, very Humbling Experience... and Awesome... and Cool!

Personal, Spiritual Religious Experience
It's a Lot More than it's Cracked UP to be.

Ya Gotta TRY it to Believe it!

"...and That's what it's all aBout."

The Prayer
Dear Ever Loving Parent,
I am Still such a Child and it will Always be so. Thank you for letting me know through Personal, Spiritual Religious Experience that I am YOUR child. It makes my relative immaturity Much more Bearable. Go ahead and keep testing/exercising my Faith and my Resolve... if it will help me to become More and More like You. That is what my Soul Truly desires.

You ALL are Within the Infinitely Loving Embrace of our Universal

The Creator's Infinite Love, through me, to all of You,
Pastor Daniel

1-10-99 Sunday Service of Church Within #120
Today's Service is offered by: Pastor Daniel J. Megow

Greetings my Dearest Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to The Church that is Within.

My wife Jill and I went to see the movie "Patch Adams" with Robin Williams this week... well, we didn't actually go With him... He Starred in it. ;-) It is a True Story that happened not so long ago... in Fact is Still happening. You OWE it to yourself to See it. It is Superb, Heartwarming and Soul Encouraging.

(from: The Tao Te Ching - #63)
Act without doing;
work without effort.
Think of the small as large
and the few as many.
Confront the difficult
while it is still easy;
accomplish the great task
by a series of small acts.

The Master never reaches for the great;
thus she achieves greatness.
When she runs into a difficulty,
she stops and gives herself to it.
She doesn't cling to her own comfort;
thus problems are no problem for her.

(A Hindu Parable)
Lord Krishna wanted to test the wisdom of his kings. One day he summoned a king called Duryodana. Duryodana was well known throughout the land for his cruelty and miserliness, and his subjects lived in terror. Lord Krishna said to King Duryodana, "I want you to go and travel the world over and find for me one truly good man." Duryodana replied, "Yes, Lord," and obediently began his search. He met and spoke with many people, and after much time had passed he returned to Lord Krishna saying, "Lord, I have done as you have asked and searched the world over for one truly good man. He is not to be found. All of them are selfish and wicked. Nowhere is there to be found this good man you seek!"
Lord Krishna sent him away and called another king called Dhammaraja. He was a king well known for his generosity and benevolence and well loved by all his people. Krishna said to him, "King Dhammaraja, I wish for you to travel the world over and bring to me one truly wicked man." Dhammaraja also obeyed, and on his travels met and spoke with many people. After much time had passed he returned to Krishna saying, "Lord, I have failed you. There are people who are misguided, people who are misled, people who act in blindness but nowhere could I find one truly evil man. They are all good at heart despite their failings!"

(from: The Urantia Papers - Paper-100 Section-4 Para-6)
You cannot truly love your fellows by a mere act of the will. Love is only born of thoroughgoing understanding of your neighbor's motives and sentiments. It is not so important to love all men today as it is that each day you learn to love one more human being. If each day or each week you achieve an understanding of one more of your fellows, and if this is the limit of your ability, then you are certainly socializing and truly spiritualizing your personality. Love is infectious, and when human devotion is intelligent and wise, love is more catching than hate. But only genuine and unselfish love is truly contagious. If each mortal could only become a focus of dynamic affection, this benign virus of love would soon pervade the sentimental emotion-stream of humanity to such an extent that all civilization would be encompassed by love, and that would be the realization of the brotherhood of man.

(from: the RSV Bible - Peter I 2:15-17)
"For it is God's will that by doing right you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men. Live as free men, yet without using your freedom as a pretext for evil; but live as servants of God. Honor all men. Love the brotherhood..."

The Sermon
"Hey God?"

Yes, my child.

"Do you have time to listen... to talk?"

AM I not here?

"Well... yeah, but I know how busy You must be with all the Important things You have to do all the time..."

And where AM I now, this very instant?

"I uh... well I guess You are here talkin' to Me."

Indeed. And ALL that I do is of the Utmost Importance. What shall we talk about my child?

"Oh! Yeah! Well... It's about Love."

Yes. Always it is about Love.

"Well... Right, OK. Well, I'm supposed to Love everyone. I Know that. And I DO... for the most part. But sometimes it's just So Difficult... So Impossible!"

For you child, born on this planet, yes it can be difficult. Not impossible.

"OK. I'll have to trust You on that one."

Please do.

"Yeah. So... You know, I Dearly love my family, and my friends, and Babies, and little children... They are So Precious. And ALL those wonderful people who unselfishly do so much for others... God I Love them All."

And so do I. Is That what you wanted to talk about... the easy ones?

"Well... more about the ones I have difficulty with. God, there are some people that make me just SO..."

"Confused" is the word.

"I was thinking like, Angry... Furious... Indignant."

Yes. You were confused Go ahead.

"OK. Atheists for instance. They don't Believe in You... they Hate You... they try to obliterate You from the institutions of Learning. how am I to love Them... how do YOU love them?"

I know Why they feel as they do. Do You?

"No! I stay aWay from them."

How do you feel about all of the injustices, the murders, the senseless slaughter which has been performed down through the ages, by ignorant men, in My Name?

"It Infuriates me! I KNOW You! You would NEVER..."

What if that was all you had ever heard or been shown of me? What would you think of me Then?

Exactly. If all who know Me stay away from them, or show them even more intolerance, ridicule, condescension... will they ever know Me?

"No... I guess not."

If you tell them that they are "damned if they don't", will That entice them into discovering My love? Is that how You found Me?

Do you remember how you got to know Me?

"Well... I've ALLways beLieved in You... as long as I can remember."

Your earthly circumstances were fortunate. But, do you remember how you got to KNOW Me?

"I recall a time when I felt all alone... Everything seemed to be working against me... I was ready to just Give Up. The 'Final Straw' was that Darned flat tire... and Me without a jack staring at it in utter frustration. Oh... was I Mad at You!"

I remember. and Then what?

"This Guy drove up and asked me how he could help me. He looked me Right in the eye with Compassion and Love, and then got out his own jack and proceeded to help me change the tire. That Look! I KNEW You were a part of it!"

He allowed me to be and I was. Did he Tell you about me?

"No. I could just Feel You! I knew he Cared... I knew YOU cared."

He received the gift of feeling your gratitude... My gratitude, for his being there for you. It was a gift for you Both.

"Yeah! And Then I began seeing You, feeling You in Other instances, with Other people. Somewhere along the line, they all came together... they all flashed into my mind in an Instant... and I KNEW... You."

"So... about Atheists. What should I DO... How should I tell them about you?"

Have you not been paying attention? Do not Tell them about me. SHOW them.

"Hey God?"

Yes, my child.

"I'll probably have to ask You how to learn to love some Other kinds of people To. Perhaps another day?"

Yes. Just ask... I will be here.

"Oh! And "Hey God?"

Yes, my child.

The Prayer
Dear Ever Loving Parent,
Thank You! I guess that's all for now.

You ALL are Within the Infinitely Loving Embrace of our Universal

1-17-99 Sunday Service of Church Within #121
Today's Service is offered by: Pastor Daniel J. Megow

Greetings my Dearest Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to The Church that is Within.

Since this is a Sunday Service, Let's today talk about...

(from: The Book of Runes)
Reversed glyph: This is not a time to be bound by old conditioning, old authority. Consider not only what will benefit you, but what will benefit others, and act according to the Light you possess now in your life. Because you may be called upon to undertake a radical departure from old ways, total honesty is required. Otherwise, through negligence or refusal to see clearly, you may cause pain to others and damage to yourself.
Adaptability and skillful means are the methods to cultivate at this time. Yet, you must wait for the universe to act. Upon receiving this Rune, remember: we do without doing, and everything gets done.

(from: the RSV Bible - Corinthians II 9:6-12)
The point is this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that you may always have enough of everything and may provide in abundance for every good work. As it is written, "He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor; his righteousness endures for ever." He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your resources and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way for great generosity, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God; for the rendering of this service not only supplies the wants of the saints but also overflows in many thanksgivings to God.

(from: The Urantia Papers - Paper-180 Section-1)
If you would share the Master's joy, you must share his love. And to share his love means that you have shared his service. Such an experience of love does not deliver you from the difficulties of this world; it does not create a new world, but it most certainly does make the old world new.
Keep in mind: It is loyalty, not sacrifice, that Jesus demands. The consciousness of sacrifice implies the absence of that wholehearted affection which would have made such a loving service a supreme joy. The idea of duty signifies that you are servant-minded and hence are missing the mighty thrill of doing your service as a friend and for a friend. The impulse of friendship transcends all convictions of duty, and the service of a friend for a friend can never be called a sacrifice. The Master has taught the apostles that they are the sons of God. He has called them brethren, and now, before he leaves, he calls them his friends.

(from: "The Center Within" - Edited by Fred Harris and Byron Belitsos - p.244-245 --- Will)
[NOTE: I highly recommend this book... It is available thru "Barnes & Noble", "" and "Origin Press" - Pastor Daniel]
I would like to speak to you tonight on the magnitude of the effort to reclaim this planet. People will be approached in whatever manner will be most likely to pique their interest. Every door ajar and window cracked, any opening, and we will take it. Not in a coercive fashion, but to encourage those seekers to take the first step in their continuing search for the Father's will in their lives.
Every person will interpret their nudge from their own historical perspective. Many will continue to cling to prior paths, which is fully acceptable to us. But within those paths, they will be shown and taught and will experience how the Father's love is the force that will unify all people. And experientially, they will find that when approaching a situation with love in their hearts and tolerance for others, the results will consistently be positive.
This world will change, one person at a time, as heart connections between people are made and love is transmitted. This love will fill this planet, will raise all ships, will reach a depth so deep that no barrier will stand taller.
It is this love energy, the Father's love, that is the foundational impetus to this mission. So we encourage each of you in your work, in your play, at home and abroad, to be agents and purveyors of this love. Let nothing stand in the way of a loving attitude. Many will test you on this with their disagreeable personalities, and unkind and unjust actions, but you must rise above this. For your duty and your task and your mission is to take the higher path, the path with the most love in it.

The Sermon
The word "Service" can have a wide variety of definitions, meanings and interpretations. There was a Master among us a while back in our history who said, "He who would be Greatest among you, let him become server of All." You've heard that haven't you? Of Course you have. Ever wonder what that would really entail? Yeah, I have too. There were times, many years actually, where the thought of being a "server of all" was just out of the question... impossible... actually repulsive in some cases. And yet... some gnawing feeling deep within me knew that the Master's statement had Value. "WHAT, Good it will do is Certainly beYOND me!"... but that vague feeling of rightness was there all the time though... ya Know? The, "You Know they will feel good if you do that for them... and You will feel good Too." thing? Of Course you do. We humans Sure can be good at igNORing those impulses sometimes can't we? ;-) "Oh... I don't want to get involved..." or "I really don't have Time..." or "The lazy so and so could do it for himself if he only Would..." or "Someone else will do it..." or "Why should I do it?" or... well You get the picture, don'tcha? We can think of a thousand and one reasons why we can't or shouldn't or... Won't do something loving and helpful for another. At that we are quite skilled, and it takes No effort whatsoever to increase that inherent aptitude.

It takes a certain amount of Effort to be in Service to another. But then rarely does Good come of our actions without Some degree of effort. You know how you feel when something you have done is Appreciated? That "Yeah!" feeling? Would not life be Grand if that were the pervasive feeling we experienced daily? Well... One day I got to thinking, "What would it take?" The feeling of being appreciated is worth cultivating... don't ya Think?

Well... "Service", I have found, is the greatest Tool there Is for cultivating the Garden of Appreciation in our life. Luxuriant Growth requires the fertilizer of our efforts and must be Watered with ample quantities Love of course.

So... let's play in the Garden for a bit. shall we?

Here are some of "Webster's" definitions of the word "service"... leaving out only those which refer to "utilities", "military", or something you do with a ball.

serv•ice (sûr´vis), n., v., 1. an act of helpful activity 3. the providing or a provider of maintenance or repair 4. the performance of duties or the duties performed 6. the work of a servant 8. a meeting, ritual, or form for religious worship 11. to maintain repair, or restore

serv•ice (sûr´vis), 1. an act of helpful activity

I Like this one. Being Helpful feels good. That's worth cultivating then I guess... ya Think?

serv•ice (sûr´vis), 3. the providing or a provider of maintenance or repair

Yeah... that kinda fits... if yer doing it to be "helpful" to someone. I can buy that.

serv•ice (sûr´vis), 4. the performance of duties or the duties performed

"Duties"? That's not always such an appealing word, IS it? But then I guess if you're doing them out of Love... then they feel kinda good actually. OK... I'll look at duties THAT way... That'll Work.

serv•ice (sûr´vis), 6. the work of a servant

Well... God's servant anyways... Servant of Truth, Beauty, Goodness. Sure! I can be THAT kind of servant.

serv•ice (sûr´vis), 8. a meeting, ritual, or form for religious worship

This is probably referring to some type of "church" service... but there's another way of looking at it. "a meeting" can be anytime you meet someone... "ritual" can be "a practice or pattern of behavior regularly performed in a set manner"... "religious worship"? Indeed it Would be a form of that... wouldn't it?

serv•ice (sûr´vis), 11. to maintain repair, or restore

There's times I really feel the need for restoration. It sure feels good when someone is there to provide that "Service" for me. Doesn't that feel good to You Too?

Don't you really Appreciate it when someone does something nice for you... just because?

Wouldn't you like to feel Appreciated more?

"Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me."

"He who would be Greatest among you, let him become server of All."

Service... it has Possibilities... ya Think?

The Prayer
Dear Ever Loving Parent,
I am at Your Service. Help me to recognize all of the opportunities You provide me with.

You ALL are Within the Infinitely Loving Embrace of our Universal

The Creator's Infinite Love, through me, to all of You,

1-24-99 Sunday Service of Church Within #122
Today's Service is offered by: Pastor Daniel J. Megow

Greetings my Dearest Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to The Church that is Within.

I would like to thank those of my Brothers and Sisters on list BRIDGE_L who provided for me the inspiration which resulted in Today's Service.

(from: The RSV Bible - Matthew 22:36-40)
"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?" And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets."

(from: The Urantia Papers - Paper-130 Section-2 Para-6)
Ganid was, by this time, beginning to learn how his tutor spent his leisure in this unusual personal ministry to his fellow men, and the young Indian set about to find out the motive for these incessant activities. He asked, "Why do you occupy yourself so continuously with these visits with strangers? " And Jesus answered: "Ganid, no man is a stranger to one who knows God. In the experience of finding the Father in heaven you discover that all men are your brothers, and does it seem strange that one should enjoy the exhilaration of meeting a newly discovered brother? To become acquainted with one's brothers and sisters, to know their problems and to learn to love them, is the supreme experience of living."

(from: The Urantia Papers - Paper-131 Section-8 Para-3)
True goodness is like water in that it blesses everything and harms nothing And like water, true goodness seeks the lowest places, even those levels which others avoid, and that is because it is akin to the Supreme. The Supreme creates all things, in nature nourishing them and in spirit perfecting them. And it is a mystery how the Supreme fosters, protects, and perfects the creature without compelling him. He guides and directs, but without self-assertion. He ministers progression, but without domination.

(from: The Urantia Papers - Paper-131 Section-10 Para-6)
"I will every day thank God for his unspeakable gifts; I will praise him for his wonderful works to the children of men. To me he is the Almighty, the Creator, the Power, and the Mercy, but best of all, he is my spirit Father, and as his earth child I am sometime going forth to see him. And my tutor has said that by searching for him I shall become like him. By faith in God I have attained peace with him. This new religion of ours is very full of joy, and it generates an enduring happiness. I am confident that I shall be faithful even to death, and that I will surely receive the crown of eternal life.

(from: the Tao Te Ching - #27)
A good traveler has no fixed plans
and is not intent upon arriving.
A good artist lets his intuition
lead him wherever it wants.
A good scientist has freed himself of concepts
and keeps his mind open to what is.

Thus the Master is available to all people
and doesn't reject anyone.
He is ready to use all situations
and doesn't waste anything.
This is called embodying the light.

What is a good man but a bad man's teacher?
What is a bad man but a good man's job?
If you don't understand this, you will get lost,
however intelligent you are.
It is the great secret.

The Sermon
Those who have been there
and those I still meet
What attraction within them
so feeds my Soul's heat.

Were it not for that teacher,
that woman, that man...
Where would I be now?
How did they understand?

The gift of my life
I owe them I know...
What was it about them
that encouraged me to grow?

There was something about them,
Attractive and Kind
That inspired and Nourished
my fragile young mind.

Would you call it a Knowing?
A Presence? A Place?
Indeed there was Something
Eye to Eye, Face to Face.

They saw the... Me...
from most I kept hid
Gently probing and Loving
in Service to a kid.

I honor all those
who stirred in my Soul
Inspiration, motivation, assurance
and Hunger for my goals.

There is only one feeling
that defines all they shared
the one thing common to all...
they Cared.

The Love from Within them
accessible, unreserved
free and unbidden
as if I Deserved.

Whenever I question
the Love that is God
Recollection of those who have shown me...
YES... I nod.

Shall I be remembered
as one such as these?
Let Your Love so flow through me dear God...
If You Please.

The Prayer
Dear Ever Loving Parent,
You have provided for so many of Your Loving Children to be Contributors in my learning and Growth and in the experiencing of Your Divine Love. It is the deepest Craving of my Soul to Serve also in this way for others. Teach me to be an example of Your Will, Your Compassion, and Your Love, so that it is as much a part of my own nature as it is Yours.

You ALL are Within the Infinitely Loving Embrace of our Universal

1-31-99 Sunday Service of Church Within #123
Today's Service is offered by: Pastor Daniel J. Megow

Greetings my Dearest Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to The Church that is Within.

"Have you Faith?"

(From: the RSV Bible - Timothy I 6:10-12)
[**Pastor emphasis**]
For **the love of** money is the root of all evils; it is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced their hearts with many pangs. But as for you, man of God, shun all this; aim at righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-101 Section-8 Para-1)
Belief has attained the level of faith when it motivates life and shapes the mode of living. The acceptance of a teaching as true is not faith; that is mere belief. Neither is certainty nor conviction faith. A state of mind attains to faith levels only when it actually dominates the mode of living. Faith is a living attribute of genuine personal religious experience.

(from: TOMAS - Pittsburgh 1/24/99)
"In your decision-making processes, it will, again, help you to distinguish between your belief systems and your faith, for most people's decisions are based upon their belief systems and they don't think about these decisions. They do their decision-making by rote, and therefor they are not truly decisions at all, but habit, whereas when you walk in faith, when you walk with divinity as your partner, then you are given the opportunity to look at each decision you make as a live element in the greater organism."
"Herein you find the value of the fruits of the spirit, for it doesn't always mean, 'What will I do?' or 'What will I say?' but 'How will I go about my life?'"

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-101 Section-1 Para-4
Religion lives and prospers, then, not by sight and feeling, but rather by faith and insight. It consists not in the discovery of new facts or in the finding of a unique experience, but rather in the discovery of new and spiritual meanings in facts already well known to mankind. The highest religious experience is not dependent on prior acts of belief, tradition, and authority; neither is religion the offspring of sublime feelings and purely mystical emotions. It is, rather, a profoundly deep and actual experience of spiritual communion with the spirit influences resident within the human mind, and as far as such an experience is definable in terms of psychology, it is simply the experience of experiencing the reality of believing in God as the reality of such a purely personal experience.

The Sermon
Belief, Faith... Faith, Belief... What's the difference? Is there a difference? Well... Yes. There IS a difference. I Know because I have Felt the difference. Can I tell you What the difference is? I don't know. Maybe not... or maybe So. How about if I just tell you what the difference is to Me, and then see if any of it makes sense to you.

Beliefs can be fear driven. True Faith isn't.

Like, you can be afraid Not to believe in something or someone. "If I don't believe That...", "...I might not be accepted.", "...I might be Wrong. "...I might go to hell!", "...I might...?...". So... "Sure, I believe that. Yeah 'course. I mean, I Should right?"

Faith isn't a fear thing nor a Maybe thing, it's a Conviction thing. It doesn't Force, it Entices. Faith doesn't Limit Truth, it Discovers it without fear of being wrong. Faith is what motivates positive action.

Beliefs can be full of complexity. They can keep you intellectually stimulated and you don't ever have to move. You can sit there and think about your beliefs for Hours... Days... Months... even Years!

Beliefs give you something to act on, but if you do Not act on them, it is not Faith.

Faith is a Simple act in Trust.
Trust that when you step, you are going in the right direction...
...the step of Faith will always take you forward.
Trust that taking the first step will of Course show you the next...
...Faith makes Each step the First and every step the Next.
Trust that if you fall down, you may get back up and try again...
...Faith will not let you stay down for very long.
Trust that you will Succeed...
...Faith allows you to do so and entices you to try.
Trust that you have a purpose in God's plan...
...Faith steps reveal it.
Trust that it is more Grand than you can Possibly imagine...
...Faith creates the opportunity for delightful surprises.
Trust that you are Cared for and Loved and will be Guided...
...Faith Proves that it is True.

Belief is intellectual... Faith is Experiential.
Belief "knows" it... Faith lives it.

Faith can move a Mountain... Even if it is but one pebble at a tine.

Act in Faith.

"If not now, then When?"

The Prayer
Dear Ever Loving Parent,
I will Get to You One way or the Other. And no disappointment, mistake or apparent failure will Stop me... at least not for very long. ;-)
