Welcome by: Pastor Daniel

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

This coming Friday, my wife Jill and I will be driving from Post Falls Idaho, to San Diego California. My mom is now living in an Altsheimers home and I will be getting her house (where I grew up), fixed up for rental. We will be gone from January 7th until January 23
rd, and since we are unable to afford a lap top computer to go with us, there will be no Church Within “Sunday Service” or “Story of the Week” during that time (unless of course someone chooses to donate one to us between now and then). So….

Well… another New Year is upon us. WELCOME 2005!

Are you happy to see that the year “2004” is behind us, or was it a good year for you?

Though there were Indeed some Good moments in 2004 for me, truthfully I can say that I am not at all displeased at it's passing. The majority of it I spent in severe to moderate lower back and hip pain. Added to that, the cost of living went up Significantly (the cost of fuel more than doubled in price---without even going Into the outrageous increases in Food prices), while wages for the Majority either stayed the same or decreased. We have had to endure the loss of war and the “Imposed” Fear of those in power who choose to wield it in an effort to control the thoughts and actions of the greater population. And… the many months of “political” inundation were Especially rewarding, don't you think? (NOT!!!) Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Earthquakes, Floods, Eruptions, Tsunami's… all seemed particularly devastating in 2004, did they not?

2005 can only get Better, Right? Let us all Pray that it is so.

Today, the Sermon will once again precede the Quotes. It just… Felt right for some reason.

The topic of today's New Year's & Sunday Service, #430, is Purity of Heart…

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
Have you made any New Year's Resolutions for 2005?

I resolve to make 2005 a better year than was 2004. It shouldn't be too difficult, considering.

If the only thing I can change in 2005 is my Attitude, then it will be surely enough to fulfill that resolution, I think.

Would it be enough for you?

What Would the perfect 2005 look like for you?

What can you do to help make it look like that?

Anything? Or are you completely powerless to do anything about it?

Is it Purely as simple as changing my perspective?

Is Purity of Heart enough to make the difference?

Maybe it Is!

Perhaps it is worth an Honest Try… Just to see.

What do you Think?

I'm willing to give it a shot.

Are You?

I Resolve…

…to be more Loving.
…to be more Compassionate.
…to be more Understanding.
…to be more Accepting.
…to be more Dedicated in Purpose.

…to be more “Pure of Heart.”

Quotes
*******
(From: Leonardo da Vinci (1452 - 1519)

Iron rusts from disuse; water loses its purity from stagnation and in cold weather becomes frozen; even so does inaction sap the vigors of the mind.

(From: Margaret Fuller (1810 - 1850)
It is astonishing what force, purity, and wisdom it requires for a human being to keep clear of falsehoods.

(From: Norson - 1/1/93– the Kona HI TeaM)
The Kingdom of God is within. The keys to the Kingdom are sincerity. These things you already know. Sincerity originates in the heart. One can feel it. Sincerity is manifest in your thoughts, words, and actions. To truly love someone, you must be sincere. Always allow the purity of the spirit to fill you before you act, speak, even think. Purity and sincerity walk hand in hand. Feel the blessings of sincere motivation in the reaction of those you contact. People are super consciously uplifted when met by a sincere greeting or a pure deed.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-140 Section-5)
Spiritual purity is not a negative quality, except that it does lack suspicion and revenge. In discussing purity, Jesus did not intend to deal exclusively with human sex attitudes. He referred more to that faith which man should have in his fellow man; that faith which a parent has in his child, and which enables him to love his fellows even as a father would love them. A father's love need not pamper, and it does not condone evil, but it is always anticynical. Fatherly love has singleness of purpose, and it always looks for the best in man; that is the attitude of a true parent.

(From: Cicero (106 BC - 43 BC)
A life of peace, purity, and refinement leads to a calm and untroubled old age.

(From: The RSV Bible - Matthew 5:8)
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-196 Section-0)
The faith of Jesus attained the purity of a child's trust. His faith was so absolute and undoubting that it responded to the charm of the contact of fellow beings and to the wonders of the universe. His sense of dependence on the divine was so complete and so confident that it yielded the joy and the assurance of absolute personal security. There was no hesitating pretense in his religious experience. In this giant intellect of the full-grown man the faith of the child reigned supreme in all matters relating to the religious consciousness. It is not strange that he once said, "Except you become as a little child, you shall not enter the kingdom." Notwithstanding that Jesus' faith was childlike, it was in no sense childish.

(From: The RSV Bible - Philippians 4:8)
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

The Prayer
**********
Dear God,
Clarify my Perception, and Purify my Heart. Show me the Greater Perspective of Your Divine Wisdom. I do not well on my own. I Need Your constant Presence in my life. Show me again the Way Father. Maybe it will “Stick” this time.

You ALL are Within the Infinitely Loving Embrace of our Universal
Parent,

The Creator's Infinite Love to all of You,

Welcome by: Pastor Daniel

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

Well, It seems a very long time to me since I was able to sit down and do a Sunday Service. I missed the Sundays of the 9
th the 16th and the 23rd and the Weekly Stories of the 12th and 19th due to my trip to San Diego to work on my mom's house, and my inability to take our computer with us on the journey.

Our Quest for a Lap-Top Computer:

As I told those of you who read this last Wednesday's Story of the Week that it is time the Church Within got a lap-top computer so that we may never again miss one of our mostly Services. As of Wednesday, we had $150.00 in donations toward our goal of $1250. - $1700.00 for a new Dell Lap-Top to serve in this function.

Since Wednesday we have received another $200.00 in donations to this cause, and it got me to thinking… this portable computer will mean Much More to the Church Within than merely “Service” Insurance for trips and conferences. I realized that it would actually become the Primary Computer for All of the Church Within Services and go along with me daily to record those mid-week Tweaks and Thought Adjustments that get lost or forgotten by the time Sunday rolls around again. It should greatly help to improve the overall depth and quality of our Church Within Services.

So again I am putting it out to all who appreciate and benefit from our Church Within Bi-Weekly Services to help us Reach our Goal. So Many of you have generously come through in the past when the Church was in need, and we would Greatly Value any financial help you could give us toward this endeavor. Your Support is Deeply Appreciated!!!

If you wish to help us with this, you may send your tax-deductible donation to:

Church Within - LapTop
1004 S. Millsap Loop
Post Falls, ID 83854

(Hopefully by the end of this coming week, we will also be able to receive Donations by credit card or on-line checks through a PayPal account for Non-Profits that we are in the process of opening on our churchwithin.org website.)

We are at $350.00 so far, and I will continue to keep you regularly posted on our progress toward these ends. Thank you So Much for your continued support!

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #430, is Being a Survivor…

Once again, Today's Quotes will Follow the Sermon rather than precede it.

(This is me this morning as I am sitting down to do today's Sunday Service)

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
This morning as I put on my “Robes” (bathrobe actually), and headed on to perform today's Sunday Service, I saw my blue “Survivor Buff” laying there in front of me. I picked it up and looked at it and immediately got one of those Adjuster Tweaks, or an Ah-Ha experience, or sometimes I think of them as Angel Bumps. This morning it seemed more of an Adjustment, or Realignment of my thoughts. The word Survivor made me consider that, “I am a Survivor.” (You are Too or you wouldn't be here reading this right now, ya Think?) Then I started thinking about what it Really means to be a Survivor… a Soul/Spirit Survivor… not just a survivor On this world, but a Survivor OF this world.

So very many Question, or are Unsure of, or even doubt, their own Survival After this mortal life… for many years, I did. But something changed in my perspective/paradigm and it changed Everything. I became aware that I really Did want God's Will in my life… that the Consequences of God's Will in my life were so much more Fulfilling and Peace creating than those of my own ego will had been. Though I still made (and make), mistakes and far from perfect choices, I know that through it all what I want most in my life it to be and act like one of God's children… Learning and Growing in God's Truth, Beauty, Goodness and Love (like I said, I've got a very Long way to go yet, do not we all? ;-). My Faith in the Infinite Love and Mercy of God, tells me that “I” Will survive this material life, that through Trying my best to live as God's child, I already Have Survived it. It's an Incredible Experience to let go of the fear of doubt. A certain Peace replaces it.

Have you felt that Peace?

Do you feel it now?

You Deserve to!

Most of us, if not indeed ALL of us who Live and Have lived on this confused world of ours, have Survived some Pretty Horrendous and Atrocious Experiences here in the course of our seemingly short mortal lives. “Those” times in your own life are really not all that difficult to recall now, Are they? And yet… Somehow… somehow we have managed to Survive them… hopefully Learn from them… be Strengthened by them… Perhaps… learned to Thrive in spite of, even perchance, Because of them. Material Survival on this here mortal sphere IS truly a Challenge, is it Not?

The innate Human Instinct for Survival has a Spiritual counterpart, and it is this Spiritual Survival that Truly draws us Onward and Forward. God Wants us each to Survive our mortal lives… it is only a matter of how dearly we want it for Ourselves.

What is it Worth to live on in Love and Relationship, and Personal Growth and Service to one another and participating in the Goodness of God… Past this life… into Eternity?

Would it not be worth Anything… and Everything?

Is it?

Is it Not?

Survive and Thrive!

Quotes
*******
(From: Edward Steichen)

There is only one optimist. He has been here since man has been on this earth, and that is "man" himself. If we hadn't had such a magnificent optimism to carry us through all these things, we wouldn't be here. We have survived it on our optimism.

(From: Abraham - 12/23/97– the Woods Cross TeaM)
It is a wonder to look back upon your life and trace those steps that you thought you would never survive, and yet, you survived, and went beyond that. Lessons were learned, meanings and values were attained and stored in your memory, and again there was consent for a new lesson. Yes, do see how Father is a Father of mercy, and would not burden you with something He would not believe you could challenge and meet with success? Yes, the battle of faith is well worth the injuries one may sustain. This is not meant to be frightening, but to empower you each with the confidence that Father has in you to meet life's challenges, and feel His presence in all of them.

(From: Dalai Lama, The Times (1999)
Compassion and love are not mere luxuries. As the source of both inner and external peace, they are fundamental to the continued survival of our species.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-5 Section-5)
Eternal survival of personality is wholly dependent on the choosing of the mortal mind, whose decisions determine the survival potential of the immortal soul. When the mind believes God and the soul knows God, and when, with the fostering Adjuster, they all desire God, then is survival assured. Limitations of intellect, curtailment of education, deprivation of culture, impoverishment of social status, even inferiority of the human standards of morality resulting from the unfortunate lack of educational, cultural, and social advantages, cannot invalidate the presence of the divine spirit in such unfortunate and humanly handicapped but believing individuals.

(From: Anna Freud (1895 - 1982)
Creative minds have always been known to survive any kind of bad training.

(From: Brittany Murphy, Seventeen Magazine, September 2003)
Everybody has difficult years, but a lot of times the difficult years end up being the greatest years of your whole entire life, if you survive them.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-40 Section-5)
As to the chances of mortal survival, let it be made forever clear: All souls of every possible phase of mortal existence will survive provided they manifest willingness to co-operate with their indwelling Adjusters and exhibit a desire to find God and to attain divine perfection, even though these desires be but the first faint flickers of the primitive comprehension of that "true light which lights every man who comes into the world."

(From: Solonia - 5/15/04 – The Faith Garden TeaM)
Our Father's will for his mortal children is first and foremost, Survival---that they may survive In this mortal life and, most especially, that they may survive From it.

(From: Charles Darwin (1809 - 1882)
It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.

(From: Elyon - 9/19/99 – The North Idaho TeaM)
As you progress both as a culture and individually, you begin to go beyond physical survival to the survival of your soul, of your personality. That is when the spiritual element infuses you, when you begin to grasp the importance of the survival of your personality. Then you begin to see relationship as more than fighting for possession of things, more than the survival of your ego, more than greed. You go beyond those things to the things that matter for your personality survival and your personality development.

*******************************************
The Prayer
**********
Dear God,
May we All, the better use the Strength and Persistence we have acquired through our mortal survival challenges (with Your Loving help), to encourage us and sustain us in our personal quest for our own eternal survival with You. Help us to forever Continue Being Survivors.

You ALL are Within the Infinitely Loving Embrace of our Universal
Parent,

The Creator's Infinite Love to all of You,
Pastor Daniel
