The Sermon

Even though it is but the next day after yesterday, there is something about the first day of “The New Year” that brings on a unique sense of Anticipation… Hopefulness… perhaps even of Determination. It almost seems sometimes as if opening a door into a new and unexplored room. At the turn of the New Year, the potential for something Better (at least than last year), is still alive and well in the heart of most.

What if…

Instead of “Happy New Year” it was…

“Happy New Day!”

What if… waking up Each Morning brought on that, “unique sense of Anticipation… Hopefulness… perhaps even of Determination?”

What if… the beginning of Each Day was like “opening a door into a new and unexplored room?”

What if… a realization of “the potential for something Better” greeted you each and Every Dawn?

What if… my morning Prayer/Meditation was, “I wish to be a little bit more Knowledgeable… Understanding… Wiser… more Caring… Compassionate… more Loving Today, than I was yesterday.”?

What if… my Eagerness for a “New Day” was equal to my eagerness toward a “New Year”?

Do you think that my life would change for the better?
Do you think that Yours would?

So… what does any of this have to do with your own personal “ultimate security”?

Perhaps nothing.

All can be divided under three major categories.

1.] Those that are coveted by ego,
2.] Those that are craved by Soul and,
3.] Those that are desired by Spirit.

If you are moved into Action by Fear, Hatred, or Revenge…
If you are moved into Action by the desire for Wealth or Possessions…
If you are moved into Action by the lust for Power or Control…

…consider the source.

If you are motivated into Action by the craving to discover Truth…

        Faith does not shackle the creative imagination, neither does it maintain an unreasoning prejudice toward the discoveries of scientific investigation. Faith vitalizes religion and constrains the religionist heroically to live the golden rule.

Have you ever said (or wanted to say), “I don't belong to you! You don't Own me!”?

Yeah, well… that's not the interpretation of “belonging” that I'm going to today…

Ya know… Life seems much more comfortable when you have a moderate amount of Belongings to surround yourself with, doesn't it? Until of course one factors in the incessant human urge to increase the interpretation of what “moderate” means. Then of course it's pretty much of a stalemate as far as the Actual overall comfort level is concerned. I guess as long as your “belongings” don't own You…

But…

That's not the definition of “belonging” I'm heading towards either…

Nor am I going to go on about belonging, as to… a political party, a race, a nation, a church, a circumscribed belief system…

Rather…

It's that… Inner Feeling of Belonging, that inner Yearning for Belonging that is well nigh Universal to all… the Craving for Companionship, and Assurance, Love and Validation… that Belonging that brings us together as a Family… a Universal Family.

Now That's what I'm talkin about.

First and Foremost I Belong to The Original Source that I am a part of and that is a part of me, and then of course, I belong to Me.

Belonging to another is a Gift of the Self, a gift of the Heart and of the Soul, a gift of Love. It is in this way that I Belong to my Wife and my Son and my Family… to my Friends and my Workmates and to all of You… to the Larger family, the Universal family, to God's Family.

I truly Own, only my own Personal Experiences to date. They (along with whatever Inner Leadings I may perceive because of them), determine to what and to whom I choose to belong.

Is it really much different for you?

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

When I began the “search” for a topic for today's Sunday service, I remembered that one of the e-lists I am on recently had a subject title of, “Buddy can you paradigm”

…well, it reminded me of when I originally saw that line on the internet in the '90s … it went, “Hey brother, can you paradigm?”

I remember thinking at the time that it was kind of a cool twist on the 'old saying' that went, “Hey brother, can you spare a dime?” …except something to me felt… missing… incomplete somehow… and so… I re-wrote it just a bit so that it would fit into my own personal paradigm of what it should correctly sound like when said out-loud. So… I wrote it out as,
“Hey, brother can use Paradigm.”

It must have been in an old e-mail that I had used it, because I didn't find it in a search of our Sunday Service Archives. But I did find this instead…

The Sermon

I don't know about you, but I really think that we as a world are due for a Major Paradigm Shift. Those on the leading edge of it would probably remark “We are Way Overdue” while those in the middle of the last one might say “Huh? What? Really? Already?” and those on the trailing edge that are vainly clinging to a crumbling foundation scream, “Not while I still have enough money and power to keep you enslaved by fear and addicted to materialism!”

We seemed to me So Close to “The Shift” in the late 1990's… “Maybe it will manifest with the turn of The New Millennium!” …we thought. The 'middler' majority Surely appeared to be gravitating more toward the leading edge perception of Reality. Didn't they? “We Must be over the 50% point by now!” “ Most people are Sick of war and Want Peace, don't they?”

Surely it must have severely frightened the 'trailies' that they could all of a sudden lose control of the masses… lose their means of selfish worldwide exploitation… lose their Power to manipulate the average persons' fears and desires… lose them as Slaves living under the façade of freedom. They pulled out their most potent 'weapons of fear and brainwashing' and disguised them as Religion and Patriotism. Obviously it was just effective enough to frighten sufficient numbers of 'middlers' back to the familiar confines of the “Pride and Prejudice” Separatism Paradigm.

The 'trailies' may have won that battle, but the front-line crusade for Peace and Brotherhood, Compassion and Love, has not been defeated… only postponed for a short while. All it will take is a slight shift in perception… an understanding that, 'True Reality' is not what IS, but rather what Ought to Be.

I'm not giving up… are You?

I'll bring My Paradigm, You bring Yours, and together we will discover a New Unity of Purpose without an artificial uniformity of perspective.

It is when we all integrate our Own Unique Pieces of the “puzzle” that the “Larger Picture” emerges and becomes recognizable.

Then let us be about it, Shall we?
