The trouble with our times is that the future is not what it used to be.
Paul Valery (1871 - 1945)

Welcome by: Pastor Daniel
************************
Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

1.) It is now Raspberry Harvest time here in North Idaho at our Light and Life Sanctuary. The Harvest should last up until the first week of August or so. Come and Get it!!! There's All you can Eat.

2.) I will be leaving this Wednesday July 9
th (after I send out the Story of the Week of course), to attend the International TeaM Conference at Niagara Falls in upstate New York. I should be arriving back home by mid-day Monday, July 14th.

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #353, is Building the Future…

********************************************
Quotes
*******
(From: The RSV Bible - Proverbs 19:20-21)

Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom for the future. Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will be established.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-99 Section-5)
Primitive man made little effort to put his religious convictions into words. His religion was danced out rather than thought out. Modern men have thought out many creeds and created many tests of religious faith. Future religionists must live out their religion, dedicate themselves to the wholehearted service of the brotherhood of man. It is high time that man had a religious experience so personal and so sublime that it could be realized and expressed only by "feelings that lie too deep for words."

(From: John Schaar)
The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created--created first in the mind and will, created next in activity. The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made, and the activity of making them, changes both the maker and the destination.

(From: Eleanor Roosevelt (1884 - 1962)
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

(From: Ham - 6/29/03 – the Nashville TeaM)
It is always easier to be aloof and unaffected, taking pot shots from the sidelines so to speak, than to be engaged and active in the building of the future of this world. The Master's spirit comes to the aid those who dare to act, who contribute, who fight the good fight of good over evil. The goal of religionists everywhere is similar, that love should reign supreme in all hearts.

(From: Jesus - in The Urantia Papers - Paper-181 Section-1)
"When I have returned to live in you and work through you, I can the better lead you on through this life and guide you through the many abodes in the future life in the heaven of heavens. Life in the Father's eternal creation is not an endless rest of idleness and selfish ease but rather a ceaseless progression in grace, truth, and glory. Each of the many, many stations in my Father's house is a stopping place, a life designed to prepare you for the next one ahead. And so will the children of light go on from glory to glory until they attain the divine estate wherein they are spiritually perfected even as the Father is perfect in all things.

(From: Malcolm X (1925 - 1965)
The future belongs to those who prepare for it today.

(From: Erich Frohm)

As long as anyone believes that his ideal and purpose is outside him, that it is above the clouds, in the past or in the future, he will go outside himself and seek fulfillment where it cannot be found. He will look for solutions and answers at every point except where they can be found--in himself.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-140 Section-5)
The poor in spirit seek for goals of spiritual wealth--for God. And such seekers after truth do not have to wait for rewards in a distant future; they are rewarded now. They find the kingdom of heaven within their own hearts, and they experience such happiness now.

(From: Richard Feynman (1918 - 1988)
We are at the very beginning of time for the human race. It is not unreasonable that we grapple with problems. But there are tens of thousands of years in the future. Our responsibility is to do what we can, learn what we can, improve the solutions, and pass them on.

(From: Eric Hoffer (1902 - 1983)
In a time of drastic change it is the learners who inherit the future. The learned usually find themselves equipped to live in a world that no longer exists.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-81 Section-6)
The great danger to any civilization--at any one moment--is the threat of breakdown during the time of transition from the established methods of the past to those new and better, but untried, procedures of the future.

(From: Plutarch (46 AD - 120 AD)
To make no mistakes is not in the power of man; but from their errors and mistakes the wise and good learn wisdom for the future.

(From: The RSV Bible - Proverbs 24:14)
Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off.

(From: Hugh White (1773 - 1840)
When you make a mistake, don't look back at it long. Take the reason of the thing into your mind and then look forward. Mistakes are lessons of wisdom. The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power.

(From: Marcus Aurelius Antoninus (121 AD - 180 AD)
Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present.

(From: Abraham Lincoln (1809 - 1865)
The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-19 Section-1)
History alone fails adequately to reveal future development--destiny. Finite origins are helpful, but only divine causes reveal final effects.

(From: Elyon 11/2/01 – the S.E. Idaho TeaM)
It is impossible to anticipate the future with excitement without the underpinning substructure of confidence in your relationship to God. If a person does not know God in their own consciousness, or has grossly distorted ideas about God's true character, then the future cannot be viewed with excitement and a sense of adventure, but is more likely to be seen as fearful, uncertain, and the tendency is to stay firmly grounded in the known, which is the present and the past

(From: Alan Kay)
The best way to predict the future is to invent it.

(From: Charles F. Kettering (1876 - 1958)
My interest is in the future because I am going to spend the rest of my life there.

(From: John F. Kennedy (1917 - 1963)
For in the final analysis, our most basic common link, is that we all inhabit this small planet, we all breathe the same air, we all cherish our children's futures, and we are all mortal.

(From: William Gibson)
The future is here. It's just not widely distributed yet.

The Sermon
***********
Tomorrow is the Future, but it will be no different for you than Today... unless You Actively Make it so.

Would you like to have all the answers in the Future?
Then Seek for answers Today.

Would you have your Dream fulfilled in the Future?
Then take steps toward it Today.

Would you have the Future be more Loving?
Then be yourself more Loving Today.

Would you wish to be with God in the Future?
Then Be with God Today... Right Now.

Your Future may be likened to a Garden...
Prepare the Soil, Plant Good Seeds, Water it Frequently, Fertilize it Regularly, Pull Weeds as you Notice them and Be Ever On Guard to Quickly Rid it of Pests and Diseases... and the Fruits of your Labor will Surely Come in Due Season.

Welcome by: Pastor Daniel

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

As you may or may not have noticed, Today's Sunday Service is Late (this actually being Tuesday). As I relayed to you in the two previous Church Within Services, I was attending the “Living Waters” TeaM Conference at Stella Niagara near Niagara Falls in NY. It was a personally Inspiring and Energizing Weekend!!! The Love and Acceptance and Encouragement were Tangible/Experiencible/Transforming... an experience of TeaMwork and Family of the Highest Order. And... it was the Inspiration for Today's Sunday Service (on Tuesday ;-).

The topic of today's Sunday Service, # 354, is Family…

Quotes
*******
(From: Leo Tolstoy (1828 - 1910)

Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.

(From: Abraham - 2/3/95 – the Woods Cross TeaM)
A group is a great example of a family, each having their own specific roles, each can help or console or encourage the other without fear of rejection or down-casting. In your family you can even admit mistakes, failures, without critical examination. One can be unafraid to be embarrassed because you know no matter what your mistake or embarrassment may be your family loves you unconditionally.
I cherish the family, sometimes referred to as the Kingdom of Heaven/God. All smaller families/groups belong to a greater family/group, the Kingdom of God. You start small, but in reality, you are a brother or sister in a larger family.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-5 Section-4)
God is not only the determiner of destiny; he is man's eternal destination. All nonreligious human activities seek to bend the universe to the distorting service of self; the truly religious individual seeks to identify the self with the universe and then to dedicate the activities of this unified self to the service of the universe family of fellow beings, human and superhuman.

(From: William James Durant)

The family is the nucleus of civilization.

(From: Richard Bach)
The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life. Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof.

(From: Will - 1/3/92 – the Tallahassee TeaM)
God's family encompasses all and He would have you know that if you would only reach out to each other, you would realize that. Far too many of you tend to be loners, and in the spiritual realm, as well as on earth, that is simply not the most productive way to live your life. It is only in the association with other spiritual believers that you truly grow.

(From: Dalai Lama)
It is essential to know that to be a happy person, a happy family, a happy society, it is very crucial to have a good heart, that is very crucial. World peace must develop from inner peace. Peace is not just the absence of violence but the manifestation of human compassion.

(From: The RSV Bible - Ephesians 3:14-19)
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with might through his Spirit in the inner man, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have power to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-12 Section-7)
God loves each individual as an individual child in the heavenly family. Yet God thus loves every individual; he is no respecter of persons, and the universality of his love brings into being a relationship of the whole, the universal brotherhood.

(From: Buddha)
A family is a place where minds come in contact with one another. If these minds love one another the home will be as beautiful as a flower garden. But if these minds get out of harmony with one another it is like a storm that plays havoc with the garden.

(From: Mother Teresa (1910 - 1997)
Let us make one point, that we meet each other with a smile, when it is difficult to smile. Smile at each other, make time for each other in your family.

(From: Jane Howard)
Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-134 Section-4)
The brotherhood of men is founded on the fatherhood of God. The family of God is derived from the love of God--God is love. God the Father divinely loves his children, all of them.

(From: David B. Haight)
Love is this divine ingredient. It alone describes what can be our perfect relationship to our Heavenly Father and our family and neighbors, and the means by which we accomplish His work.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-170 Section-3)
The righteousness of any act must be measured by the motive; the highest forms of good are therefore unconscious. Jesus was never concerned with morals or ethics as such. He was wholly concerned with that inward and spiritual fellowship with God the Father which so certainly and directly manifests itself as outward and loving service for man. He taught that the religion of the kingdom is a genuine personal experience which no man can contain within himself; that the consciousness of being a member of the family of believers leads inevitably to the practice of the precepts of the family conduct, the service of one's brothers and sisters in the effort to enhance and enlarge the brotherhood.

(From: The Tao Te Ching)
In dwelling, live close to the ground.
In thinking, keep to the simple.
In conflict, be fair and generous.
In governing, don't try to control.
In work, do what you enjoy.
In family life, be completely present.

The Sermon
***********
The Thriving Family Works, Plays and Grows together as a Team.

For a Team to Thrive, each individual on the Team must play their individual position to the best of their ability.... from the Owner to the Manager to the Coaches to the Trainers to the Players.

Each Family member is Unique, and the Successful family Encourages and Applauds that Individual Uniqueness in it's members... it inspires Independence rather than Co-dependence. The Successful Family provides opportunities of Personal Motivation---and creates the environment for---the Individual Growth of its Family Members. As with a Team, no one can play another's position for them without neglecting their Own position as well as the whole Teams' ability to function effectively. (It is difficult enough to live one's Own life effectively... much Less trying to tell someone else how they should live theirs.)

Like a Good Team, an Outstanding Family is an “Association” of Unique Individual Members fulfilling their Specific Individual Roles to the best of their own individual ability, and striving toward accomplishing a common Goal.

Let the Truth, Beauty, Goodness and Love of God (by Any Name)---the Original Source and Divine Parent---be our Common Goal... and let it Inspire and Encourage and benefit by each of our own Individual Goals.

I Love You My Family!

One day, some guys were doing a "boxers or briefs" survey.

They went to a 25 year old man and asked,
"Boxers or briefs?

He said briefs.

They went to a 40 year old man and asked, "Boxers or briefs?

He said boxers.

Then they went up to a 80 year old man and asked,
"Boxers or briefs?

And the old man replied, "Depends."

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-100 Section-3)
The secret of survival is wrapped up in the supreme human desire to be Godlike and in the associated willingness to do and be any and all things which are essential to the final attainment of that overmastering desire.

(From: Stella Terrill Mann)
Whatever God's dream about man may be, it seems certain it cannot come true unless man cooperates.

(From: Aflana - 12/14/92 – the SarasotaTeaM)
You will find a pattern of harmony and cooperation emerge which will be your support in the days ahead. As you turn to one another in joy or sorrow or confusion or defeat, you will be supported and the love energy which is present will lift you unto new levels of service. Know that you know when a decision is needed. Do not be afraid to share yourselves. Learn through sharing.

(From: Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
The only thing that will redeem mankind is cooperation.

(From: Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890 - 1969)
Though force can protect in emergency, only justice, fairness, consideration and co-operation can finally lead men to the dawn of eternal peace.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-68 Section-1)
One hundred men united and working in unison can move a great stone; a score of well-trained guardians of the peace can restrain an angry mob. And so society was born, not of mere association of numbers, but rather as a result of the organization of intelligent co-operators. But co-operation is not a natural trait of man; he learns to co-operate first through fear and then later because he discovers it is most beneficial in meeting the difficulties of time and guarding against the supposed perils of eternity.

(From: Woodrow Wilson (1856 - 1924)
Power consists in one's capacity to link his will with the purpose of others, to lead by reason and a gift of cooperation.

(From: Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955)
Every kind of peaceful cooperation among men is primarily based on mutual trust and only secondarily on institutions such as courts of justice and police.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-160 Section-3)
The immature individual arouses the antagonisms of his fellows; the mature man wins the hearty co-operation of his associates, thereby many times multiplying the fruits of his life efforts.

(From: Tomas - 5/25/03 – the Rio Rancho NM TeaM)
I urge you to continue your path of cooperation with the Creator who will open your mind to those creative ventures which will create Art in you and in your work: in your ability to relate to others, in your ability to navigate the spheres, in your ability to encounter and discern and to be effective as you Pass By. This is part of the Art of Living – that which makes Life Beautiful, True and Good.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-34 Section-6)
The Spirit never drives, only leads. If you are a willing learner, if you want to attain spirit levels and reach divine heights, if you sincerely desire to reach the eternal goal, then the divine Spirit will gently and lovingly lead you along the pathway of sonship and spiritual progress. Every step you take must be one of willingness, intelligent and cheerful co-operation. The domination of the Spirit is never tainted with coercion nor compromised by compulsion.

(From: Welmek - 7/11/02 – http://www.teamarchives.com )
You bring your conscious cooperation to the Father. The Father, in His ministry to you, works in your mind to conform your thinking to those thoughts of the Divine Way. It is not important to figure out where you are in this unfolding. It is not important to assess yourself: how you are growing, how you are progressing or, if you are doing it right. If you are sincerely trying to do the Father's will with an open heart and a receptive mind - know that your progress is assured. That each day you practice, mastery comes that much closer.

The Sermon
***********
At some point in the evolution of the English language the hyphen was dropped from the word co-operation... now when you look it up in the dictionary it is spelled cooperation. And cooperate was once co-operate. I wonder why that was done do you think?

It seems to me that the Usage of the word has changed over time as Well... does it to You?

When someone says, “I want/need your cooperation.” ...what does that statement bring to your mind? Does it make you think that that person wants you to “do something Their way”---or that they want you to work along side them on a particular operation as equals?

How about when they say “I want you to cooperate with me.” How does That make you feel---how would you initially interpret their statement? Did you hear “Let's 'operate' together” or did it sound more like “I want you to do what I ask you to” ???

When you hear or see the term, “Cooperation with God,” does it make you think of Participating Together WITH God toward a Higher Good... or... of doing what God wants in opposition to what you may perhaps want? (not that there's anything Wrong with that ;-)

It just seems to me that the word “cooperation” intimates more of a 'submission' approach to it and the word “co-operation”, more an attitude of willing Participation.

Are You more likely to choose to “Submit” or to “Participate?”

Put the Hyphen Back!!!

Co-operate with God!

It's a Lot more Fun and Rewarding than merely cooperating.

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #356, is Love and Fear…

********************************************
Quotes
*******
(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-90 Section-0)
Evolutionary religion is born of a simple and all-powerful fear, the fear which surges through the human mind when confronted with the unknown, the inexplicable, and the incomprehensible. Religion eventually achieves the profoundly simple realization of an all-powerful love, the love which sweeps irresistibly through the human soul when awakened to the conception of the limitless affection of the Universal Father for the sons of the universe.

(From: Jesus - The Urantia Papers - Paper-149 Section-6)
"The `fear of the Lord' has had different meanings in the successive ages, coming up from fear, through anguish and dread, to awe and reverence. And now from reverence I would lead you up, through recognition, realization, and appreciation, to love. When man recognizes only the works of God, he is led to fear the Supreme; but when man begins to understand and experience the personality and character of the living God, he is led increasingly to love such a good and perfect, universal and eternal Father. And it is just this changing of the relation of man to God that constitutes the mission of the Son of Man on earth.

(From: The RSV Bible - Daniel 10:16-19)
And behold, one in the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips; then I opened my mouth and spoke. I said to him who stood before me, "O my lord, by reason of the vision, pains have come upon me, and I retain no strength. How can my lord's servant talk with my lord? For now no strength remains in me, and no breath is left in me."
Again one having the appearance of a man touched me and strengthened me. And he said, "O man greatly beloved, fear not, peace be with you; be strong and of good courage." And when he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, "Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me."

(From: Jesus - The Urantia Papers - Paper-149 Section-6)
"You have been taught that you should `fear God and keep his commandments, for that is the whole duty of man.' But I have come to give you a new and higher commandment. I would teach you to `love God and learn to do his will, for that is the highest privilege of the liberated sons of God.' Your fathers were taught to `fear God--the Almighty King.' I teach you, `Love God--the all-merciful Father.'
"In the kingdom of heaven, which I have come to declare, there is no high and mighty king; this kingdom is a divine family. The universally recognized and unreservedly worshiped center and head of this far-flung brotherhood of intelligent beings is my Father and your Father. I am his Son, and you are also his sons. Therefore it is eternally true that you and I are brethren in the heavenly estate, and all the more so since we have become brethren in the flesh of the earthly life. Cease, then, to fear God as a king or serve him as a master; learn to reverence him as the Creator; honor him as the Father of your spirit youth; love him as a merciful defender; and ultimately worship him as the loving and all-wise Father of your more mature spiritual realization and appreciation.

(From: Hadewijch of Antwerp)
May your service of love be a beautiful thing; want nothing else, fear nothing else and let love be free to become what love truly is.

(From: Jesus - The Urantia Papers - Paper-143 Section-2)
"Your sonship is grounded in faith, and you are to remain unmoved by fear. Your joy is born of trust in the divine word, and you shall not therefore be led to doubt the reality of the Father's love and mercy. It is the very goodness of God that leads men into true and genuine repentance. Your secret of the mastery of self is bound up with your faith in the indwelling spirit, which ever works by love. Even this saving faith you have not of yourselves; it also is the gift of God. And if you are the children of this living faith, you are no longer the bondslaves of self but rather the triumphant masters of yourselves, the liberated sons of God.

(From: Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
To fear love is to fear life, and those who fear life are already three parts dead.

(From: Jesus - The Urantia Papers - Paper-152 Section-5)
"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And yet, when these birds flit about in quest of their sustenance, not one of them exists without the knowledge of the Father, the source of all life. To the seraphic guardians the very hairs of your head are numbered. And if all of this is true, why should you live in fear of the many trifles which come up in your daily lives? I say to you: Fear not; you are of much more value than many sparrows.

(From: Jesus - The Urantia Papers - Paper-152 Section-5)
"All these months have I taught you the truths of the kingdom, and yet are you dominated by material motives instead of spiritual considerations. Have you not even read in the Scriptures where Moses exhorted the unbelieving children of Israel, saying: `Fear not, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord'? Said the singer: `Put your trust in the Lord.' `Be patient, wait upon the Lord and be of good courage. He shall strengthen your heart.' `Cast your burden on the Lord, and he shall sustain you. Trust him at all times and pour out your heart to him, for God is your refuge.' `He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.' `It is better to trust the Lord than to put confidence in human princes.'

(From: The RSV Bible - John I 4:16-19)
So we know and believe the love God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. In this is love perfected with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and he who fears is not perfected in love. We love, because he first loved us.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-102 Section-6)
Belief may not be able to resist doubt and withstand fear, but faith is always triumphant over doubting, for faith is both positive and living. The positive always has the advantage over the negative, truth over error, experience over theory, spiritual realities over the isolated facts of time and space. The convincing evidence of this spiritual certainty consists in the social fruits of the spirit which such believers, faithers, yield as a result of this genuine spiritual experience. Said Jesus: "If you love your fellows as I have loved you, then shall all men know that you are my disciples."

(From: Henry Ward Beecher (1813 - 1887)
Fear secretes acids; but love and trust are sweet juices.

(From: Ham - 5/4/03 – the Nashville TeaM)
Let us speak of obstacles to growth. Obstacles are those little areas where one harbors a stubborn insistence on one's own views. This can be in the form of resentment, non-forgiveness, any hatred in its many forms, and fear in its many guises. Some people fear love and most people fear love somehow, some way within themselves. There are some hidden corners where you may be afraid to love yourself for in that love there is acceptance. Many of you have old parental attitudes hidden away, disapproval of yourselves in some manner. But I say to you, these obstacles must all be removed one by one.

Do not be afraid to open every door, no matter how painful or embarrassing you may feel about yourself in that place. For when you come to acceptance and love, then growth can occur, maturity can ripen. Much of maturing consists in simply moving toward greater and greater self-love. Self-love, in this sense, is not selfishness but the acceptance of the Father's love.

Relax in your gradual acceptance of the Father's love. Recognize old fears as they come up and recognize the fear of love when you see it. Then, work toward removing it by endeavoring to see yourselves through the Master's loving eyes.

By this time the young man very much desired to talk with Jesus, and he knelt at his feet imploring Jesus to help him, to show him the way of escape from his world of personal sorrow and defeat. Said Jesus: "My friend, arise! Stand up like a man! You may be surrounded with small enemies and be retarded by many obstacles, but the big things and the real things of this world and the universe are on your side. The sun rises every morning to salute you just as it does the most powerful and prosperous man on earth. Look--you have a strong body and powerful muscles--your physical equipment is better than the average. Of course, it is just about useless while you sit out here on the mountainside and grieve over your misfortunes, real and fancied. But you could do great things with your body if you would hasten off to where great things are waiting to be done. You are trying to run away from your unhappy self, but it cannot be done. You and your problems of living are real; you cannot escape them as long as you live. But look again, your mind is clear and capable. Your strong body has an intelligent mind to direct it. Set your mind at work to solve its problems; teach your intellect to work for you; refuse longer to be dominated by fear like an unthinking animal. Your mind should be your courageous ally in the solution of your life problems rather than your being, as you have been, its abject fear-slave and the bond-servant of depression and defeat. But most valuable of all, your potential of real achievement is the spirit which lives within you, and which will stimulate and inspire your mind to control itself and activate the body if you will release it from the fetters of fear and thus enable your spiritual nature to begin your deliverance from the evils of inaction by the power-presence of living faith. And then, forthwith, will this faith vanquish fear of men by the compelling presence of that new and all-dominating love of your fellows which will so soon fill your soul to overflowing because of the consciousness which has been born in your heart that you are a child of God.

(From: A "Swedish Proverb")
Fear less, hope more;
Whine less, breathe more;
Talk less, say more;
Hate less, love more;
And all good things are yours.

Few persons live up to the faith which they really have. Unreasoned fear is a master intellectual fraud practiced upon the evolving mortal soul.

The more of God's Love one lets into their Heart and Soul,
the less room there is for fear therein.

“Fear Not.”

Allow God's Infinite Mercy and Love to Fill you to Overflowing.
