Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

On Tuesday of this past week, June 29
th 2004, a New Minister was Ordained into the Church Within Family! We are Extremely Proud and Honored to Welcome Minister Rick Giles to our ranks of Church Within Ordained Ministers. The first of hopefully many Sunday Services by Rev. Rick should be along within a couple of weeks.

At the end of Today's Service is the “Light and Life Sanctuary” Update I've been Promising for way too long. I'm also working on some new pictures of the progress that will be added to the Church Within Web-Site within a few weeks (if I can get a little time away from actually Doing the work on the Property ;-).

The Light and Life Sanctuary Update – Summer 2004
****************************************************

For the first two months of Spring 2004, I was completely incapacitated with a lower back and hip injury that kept me pretty much immobile (on Codeine, Soma and Prednasone) during crucial groundwork and planting (and Especially weed control) times of the year.

However… after the first six weeks of being totally out of action, my doctor and physical therapist said that I could try to do Tractor Work since it required no lifting, strenuous twisting, or pulling, all of which would likely put me back on my back (or side, or stomach) again. So, I began cutting new Roads/Pathways up top in the new Zen Garden which has, as a result, created the greater part of the Terracing needed to make the property usable as one of the Worship Gardens. Four of the eventually 5-6 roads throughout the Zen Garden have now been roughed in. The lower of them will be home of a 20-40 ft Blackberry garden when I'm able to get to it… this year certainly---I already have the 4 varieties of Blackberry plants ready to go in as soon as I can get the soil prepared and the raised log bed that will define it's boundaries.

Planted so far this year in the Zen Garden, along with the three Bing Cherry Trees planted last year, are:
A Four Variety Plum Tree
A Black Tartarian Cherry Tree
and over 30 donated Lilac bushes (presently between 1-3 ft tall) of various alternating colors.
Recently they all have had a Drip System installed and functioning and seem quite happy in their new abode!

In the “So Far Un-named” Garden North of and adjacent to the Faith Garden, there has been no new Groundwork or Planting as of yet, but one of the 2 Peach trees planted last year has already begun fruiting, and the other Peach tree and the Apricot tree are growing Nicely for fruit production in future years. The Asian Pear tree is also Fruiting for it's second year in a row, and the Blackberries there have a pretty good number of flowers on them already. The Harlson Apple tree in the “So Far Un-named” garden produced a number of tart/tasty apples last year, but did not flower this spring (I'm told that they produce every other year).

Over in the “Faith Garden” quite a bit has been happening this year!

1] A New 5' high, 12' long, 4' wide log-cabin style raised bed atop a rock foundation that my step-son and his friend helped me to build, is now home to our Tomato Garden which is Flourishing at the moment. A new pathway is also in the process of being cut out of the side of the hill (by hand) that gives access to the tomatoes and also to the new extension of the Faith Garden that has been in the planning stages.

2] The Pathways between the Blueberry and Rose gardens and through the Raspberry garden have now been covered with black plastic (to abort weeds) and topped with about a Ton and a half of ¾ inch rock for walking on.

3] The little Angel Stone Garden with it's 4 Bonsai Maple trees has been finished off with a 2” layer of colorful gravel, and has also had the new addition of a Lavender plant to further enhance it's beauty and aroma.

Still waiting to be planted this year in the new extension of the Faith Garden is our “Harmony Balance” English Walnut Tree, another new Apple tree (4 new and different varieties on the same tree), and perhaps 2 more Lavender plants. The trees were bought as bare-roots and have been planted in 25 gal pots until their permanent homes have been prepared for them. Both are flourishing in their temp-homes.

Light and Life Sanctuary Fruit Production for 2004:

The Red Raspberries just began Full Production. Other than “grazing” for about the past 10 days, yesterday was our first actual pick of the season (a near daily task during the whole month of July), and we picked close to 13 pounds of them (plus what we ate along the way). I could have easily picked another 5-6 lbs of ripe ones, but my shoulders and back said “NO MORE TODAY!” It's looking like we will be able to net 10-20 lbs of fresh red raspberries a day for the rest of the month if we can pick them all. Anyone like Raspberries and want to help?

Golden Raspberries are also producing right now. This is their first year, so fruit production is fairly minimal, but they are producing large numbers of canes for the coming seasons. They are called the “Fall Gold Raspberry” and all of the newly forming canes will produce a crop in August after the Reds are finished fruiting, and then again next June before the Reds begin.

The Blueberries are Abundant this year as hoped, and the two Early Varieties we have planted are getting full of Big Ripe Blueberries. The mid-season and late varieties are fully laden with unripe fruits which will likely continue to ripen into August or even later. The whole Blueberry garden is now covered with a structure of plastic pipe and bird netting.

The Van Cherry Tree we planted last year is producing a small number of luscious Cherries right now, and the Montmorency Cherry (pie cherry) tree is completely covered with ripening fruit. Last year the birds cleaned us out of cherries before we could taste any, so this year we got them also covered with bird-netting before they got ravaged.

One of our first year Pear trees (the Red Anjou), has it's first few developing fruits, and the established “Red Sensation” Pear tree is absolutely Covered with emerging fruits.
The two established Plum trees had an abundance of flowers this spring, but the untimely winds blew off most of the fruit while it was small. Still, we should be getting a fair number of plums this year when their season comes up.

Two of the 4 Grape Vines which we expected not to produce until next year are absolutely Covered with bunches of developing grapes and should be ready sometime in fall for picking.

Our Kiwi plants are also covered with small growing fruits for the first time, so we may even get Kiwi's later in the year.

The Five-Variety Apple tree that gave close to 100 lbs of apples last year seems also to be in it's off-year for fruit and only has a few dozen apples on it this year.

Much is Happening and will continue to happen at the Light and Life Sanctuary as the year rolls by. Come visit and share in it's Fruits with us!!!

The Sermon

It is Truly Extraordinary; the things that you can see and feel in the Eyes of another while you are allowing them to see freely into the inner depths of your own. It is in that intimate contact of Soul and Soul, wherein Love, Friendship and Compassionate Understanding may be experienced First-Hand on this mortal world of ours.

It is uncomfortable for some to so thus reveal themselves to others, for their fear is that their inner hurts, or feelings of inadequacy, or shames, or guilt's will be openly revealed, when in Fact… it is only their Love or their Desire and Need for Love that can really be apparent to another open Soul.

How willing are you to comfort another when you can really sense their Soul's distress (perhaps, but not necessarily, most noticeably with family and/or close friends)? I would wager that you would do whatever you could for them more often than not… is that not so? Truly, most other Souls are just as lovingly willing to share in this way as are you… With you.

Transmit and Receive Love,
