Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within. You are the Temple. You are the Congregation. Any and All Truth is the Gospel. The Divine Spirit within you is your True Minister.

We probably don't like it much unless we ourselves are doing it...

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #972, is Delay…

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
When We Delay... it generally seems justified.

When others Delay... it often appears like procrastination.

When God Delays... we Usually feel unheard and impatient (always at first ;-)... Even when we know deep in our Souls that God's Delays are Always the Best for ourselves and for others.

Why Is that do you think??

(From: The Book of Runes - #9 - Defense/Avertive Power/Yew Tree (Eihwaz)

As we are tested we fund the power to avert blockage and defeat. At the same time, we develop in ourselves an aversion to the conduct that creates stress in our lives.
If there appears to be an obstacle in your path, remember that even a delay may prove beneficial. Do not be overly eager to press forward, for this is not a situation in which you can make your influence felt. Patience is the counsel Eihwaz offers: nothing hectic, no acting needy, or lusting after a desired outcomes. This Rune speaks to the difficulties that arise at the beginning of new life. Often it announces a time of waiting---for a spring to fill up with water, for fruit to ripen on the bough.         Perseverance and foresight are called for here. The ability to foresee consequences before you act is a mark of the profound person. Avert anticipated difficulties through right action, this Rune is saying. For even more than we are “doers”, we are “deciders.” And once the decision is clear, the doing becomes effortless.
Receiving the rune Eihwaz, you are put on notice that through inconvenience and discomfort, growth is promoted. This may well be a trying time; certainly it is a meaningful one. As the wood of the yew tree becomes the bow of the Spiritual Warrior, so the obstacle on your path can become the gateway to a new life unfolding.
Set your house in order, tend to business, be clear, and wait on the Will of Heaven.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-54 Section-6)
Shortsighted and time-bound mortal minds should be slow to criticize the time delays of the farseeing and all-wise administrators of universe affairs.

(From: Comte de Buffon (1707 - 1788)
Never think that God's delays are God's denials. Hold on; hold fast; hold out. Patience is genius.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-168 Section-4)
When a prayer is apparently unanswered, the delay often betokens a better answer, although one which is for some good reason greatly delayed.

(From: Aaron Burr (1756 - 1836 )
Delay may give clearer light as to what is best to be done.

(From: Thomas Jefferson (1743 - 1826 )
Delay is preferable to error.

(From: Publilius Syrus )
“Delay is hateful, but it gives wisdom”

(From: Ovid )
“Delay is a great procuress”

(From: Amos Bronson Alcott )
“Success is sweet and sweeter if long delayed and gotten through many struggles and defeats.”

(From: Mario Andretti )
“Circumstances may cause interruptions and delays, but never lose sight of your goal. Prepare yourself in every way you can by increasing your knowledge and adding to your experience, so that you can make the most of opportunity when it occurs.”

(From: Denis Waitley )
“Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.”

(From: Tryon Edwards (1809 - 1894 )
Where duty is plain, delay is both foolish and hazardous; where it is not, delay may provide both wisdom and safety.

The Sermon
***********
"Hey God?"

Yes dear child?

"Well, this is a day I'd like to dedicate to you, and I just wanted to ask you what you would like me to Do?"

What would you Like to do?

"Well God, That's not the Point. I wanted to know specifically what YOU would like me to do today."

It IS the point, my child, and what is it that makes you think that what You would like to do isn't exactly what I would like you to do?

"'Cause then I wouldn't be doing YOUR will, I would be doing Mine. Don't you see what I mean?"

Actually, I see quite well. I have Perfect Vision you know.

"Oh, yeah."

And it is My will that you Be Loving, Be Truthful, Be Good in whatever it is that you choose to Do in this world I have given you to work and play and grow up in.

"Yeah, I know, but shouldn't I be doing something... ya know, like... specific?"

Was that not specific enough for you? Do you not yet know that life isn't about what I want you to do so much as it is about, what I want you to Be while you are doing what it is that You choose to do?

"Oh. You mean...?"

Do what is in your heart, in your Soul to do. Do things difficult, do things easy, do things exciting, do things just for fun. Just Be Loving, Be Truthful, Be Good while you are doing them. That is My will for you... don't YOU see?

"It's THAT easy?"

It's that easy.

"Hmmm... then why does it always seem so difficult?"

You just need more and more practice dear one. It will become much easier when you grow up.

"Well... OK God. I'll do my Best."

I would ask you to do no more than your best. Your Best will grow as You grow.

"So then... Just do what is in my Heart to do?"

And while you are doing it, Be Loving, Be Truthful, Be Good. That is all.

"But isn't there EVER anything specifically You would like me to do?"

If ever there is anything in particular that I would like you to do, you won't know about it until the moment I want it done. In that moment will you be given the choice of participating in it or not. You will know exactly what it is, and When it is when you are Being Loving, Being Truthful, and Being Good. It will always involve Participating with, Cooperating with, or being in Service To, your sisters and brothers.

"Hey God?"

Yes beloved?

"I'm glad we had this talk."

Yes. I am Too child.

"And... Thanks!"

You are Always Welcome.

A child is not likely to find a father in God unless he finds something of God in his father.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-2 Section-6)
The affectionate heavenly Father, whose spirit indwells his children on earth, is not a divided personality—one of justice and one of mercy—neither does it require a mediator to secure the Father's favor or forgiveness. Divine righteousness is not dominated by strict retributive justice; God as a father transcends God as a judge.

(From: Benjamin Franklin (1706 - 1790 )
I cannot conceive otherwise than that He, the Infinite Father, expects or requires no worship or praise from us, but that He is even infinitely above it.

(From: “Jesus” - The Urantia Book - Paper-133 Section-4)
“Remember, there are two things you cannot run away from—God and yourself. Wherever you may go, you take with you yourself and the spirit of the heavenly Father which lives within your heart.”

If life seems out of control, try...

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #975, is Being Deliberate…

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
What if we lived life more Deliberately?

Too often life seems like it happens to us and there is little that we can do about it. We get caught up in the flow of everything that is going on around us and it feels as if we have fewer choices about our course or our direction. Obstacles are many and often seem to be intentionally placed in our way. Responsibilities are plentiful and duties abundant.

We've all experienced times like these... we don't know how we got there... we were doing so well and then all of a sudden we realize we are here struggling with it... Again. How Do we get there? By going with the flow for too long?? Is there a way out of it? Is there a way to avoid it?

What if we lived life more Deliberately?

Deliberately Being Good... Deliberately Serving Others... Deliberately Loving...

Being Deliberate in no way precludes living in the moment... being in the Now. Now is where being Deliberate makes it's greatest impact. Being Deliberate requires focus, requires concentration. Being deliberate is the essence of Being in the Moment. In the Moment is where we can be in contact with God. Being in contact with God is a Good thing. Do so Deliberately!

What if we lived life more Deliberately?

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-130 Section-2)
Jesus said: The will of God is the way of God, partnership with the choice of God in the face of any potential alternative. To do the will of God, therefore, is the progressive experience of becoming more and more like God, and God is the source and destiny of all that is good and beautiful and true. The will of man is the way of man, the sum and substance of that which the mortal chooses to be and do. Will is the deliberate choice of a self-conscious being which leads to decision-conduct based on intelligent reflection.

(From: Benjamin Franklin )
“Weighty Questions ask for deliberate Answers”

(From: Robert Grant )
“The demands of modern living are so exacting that men and women everywhere must exercise deliberate selection to live wisely”

(From: Malcolm Gladwell)
Truly successful decision making relies on a balance between deliberate and instinctive thinking.

(From: Pope John Paul II )
“From now on it is only through a conscious choice and through a deliberate policy that humanity can survive.”

(From: Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862 )
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

(From: Oswald Chambers )
“Faith is deliberate confidence in the character of God whose ways you may not understand at the time.”
