A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, 'Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face.'

'Yes,' the class said.

'Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?'

A little fellow shouted,
'Cause your feet ain't empty.'

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-34 Section-6)
The divine Spirit is the source of continual ministry and encouragement to the children of men. Your power and achievement is "according to his mercy, through the renewing of the Spirit." Spiritual life, like physical energy, is consumed. Spiritual effort results in relative spiritual exhaustion. The whole ascendant experience is real as well as spiritual; therefore, it is truly written, "It is the Spirit that quickens." "The Spirit gives life."

(From: The RSV Bible - Isaiah 40:29-31)
He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

(From: The Tao Te Ching - #39)
In harmony with the Tao,
the sky is clear and spacious,
the earth is solid and full,
all creature flourish together,
content with the way they are,
endlessly repeating themselves,
endlessly renewed.

(From: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 - 1832)
We must always change, renew, rejuvenate ourselves; otherwise we harden.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-147 Section-8)
“'Your righteousness shall go before you while the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. Then will you call upon the Lord, and he shall answer; you will cry out, and he shall say--Here am I. And all this he will do if you refrain from oppression, condemnation, and vanity. The Father rather desires that you draw out your heart to the hungry, and that you minister to the afflicted souls; then shall your light shine in obscurity, and even your darkness shall be as the noonday. Then shall the Lord guide you continually, satisfying your soul and renewing your strength. You shall become like a watered garden, like a spring whose waters fail not. And they who do these things shall restore the wasted glories; they shall raise up the foundations of many generations; they shall be called the rebuilders of broken walls, the restorers of safe paths in which to dwell.'”

(From: The RSV Bible - )
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed every day.

(From: Lao-tzu (604 BC - 531 BC), The Way of Lao-tzu)
To be worn out is to be renewed.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-143 Section-2)
"By the old way you seek to suppress, obey, and conform to the rules of living; by the new way you are first transformed by the Spirit of Truth and thereby strengthened in your inner soul by the constant spiritual renewing of your mind, and so are you endowed with the power of the certain and joyous performance of the gracious, acceptable, and perfect will of God.

(From: The RSV Bible - Romans 12:2)
Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

(From: Pearl Buck (1892 - 1973)
Inside myself is a place where I live all alone and that's where you renew your springs that never dry up.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-156 Section-5)
Believers must increasingly learn how to step aside from the rush of life--escape the harassments of material existence--while they refresh the soul, inspire the mind, and renew the spirit by worshipful communion.

(From: Shana Alexander)
We strain to renew our capacity for wonder, to shock ourselves into astonishment once again.

(From: Susan Taylor)
We need quiet time to examine our lives openly and honestly. . . spending quiet time alone gives your mind an opportunity to renew itself and create order.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-160 Section-2)
Isolation tends to exhaust the energy charge of the soul. Association with one's fellows is essential to the renewal of the zest for life and is indispensable to the maintenance of the courage to fight those battles consequent upon the ascent to the higher levels of human living. Friendship enhances the joys and glorifies the triumphs of life. Loving and intimate human associations tend to rob suffering of its sorrow and hardship of much of its bitterness. The presence of a friend enhances all beauty and exalts every goodness.

(From: Deepak Chopra, The Path to Love)
The spiritual meaning of love is measured by what it can do. Love is meant to heal. Love is meant to renew. Love is meant to bring us closer to God.

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

What others do or say, or how they act or react or interact, always seems to be so important to why things happens the way they do, don't they? But it's not really about them is it? Really, it's….

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #699, is “about Yourself…

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-25 Section-4)
In the universal regime you are not reckoned as having possessed yourself of knowledge and truth until you have demonstrated your ability and your willingness to impart this knowledge and truth to others.

(From: The Tao Te Ching - #67)
I have just three things to teach:
simplicity, patience, compassion.
These three are your greatest treasures.
Simple in actions and in thoughts,
you return to the source of being.
Patient with both friends and enemies,
you accord with the way things are.
Compassionate toward yourself,
you reconcile all beings in the world.

(From: Anais Nin (1903 - 1977)
When you make a world tolerable for yourself, you make a world tolerable for others.

(From: “Jesus” - The Urantia Book - Paper-155 Section-6)
I have called upon you to be born again, to be born of the spirit. I have called you out of the darkness of authority and the lethargy of tradition into the transcendent light of the realization of the possibility of making for yourselves the greatest discovery possible for the human soul to make--the supernal experience of finding God for yourself, in yourself, and of yourself, and of doing all this as a fact in your own personal experience.

(From: The RSV Bible - Romans 14:22)
The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God; happy is he who has no reason to judge himself for what he approves.

(From: Elisabeth Kubler-Ross)
Learn to get in touch with the silence within yourself and know that everything in this life has a purpose.

(From: “Jesus” - The Urantia Book - Paper-133 Section-4)
“Remember, there are two things you cannot run away from--God and yourself. Wherever you may go, you take with you yourself and the spirit of the heavenly Father which lives within your heart.”

(From: Judy Garland (1922 - 1969)
Be a first rate version of yourself, not a second rate version of someone else.

(From: The Tao Te Ching - #8)
When you are content to be simply yourself
and don't compare or compete,
everybody will respect you.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-156 Section-5)
Spiritual living mightily increases true self-respect. But self-respect is not self-admiration. Self-respect is always co-ordinate with the love and service of one's fellows. It is not possible to respect yourself more than you love your neighbor; the one is the measure of the capacity for the other.

(From: YES - “I've Seen All Good People”; Chris Squire-Composer)
Don't surround yourself with yourself.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-48 Section-6)
You will learn that you increase your burdens and decrease the likelihood of success by taking yourself too seriously.

(From: Cicero (106 BC - 43 BC)
Be sure that it is not you that is mortal, but only your body. For that man whom your outward form reveals is not yourself; the spirit is the true self, not that physical figure which can be pointed out by your finger.

(From: The Tao Te Ching - #33)
Knowing others is intelligence;
knowing yourself is true wisdom.
Mastering others is strength;
mastering yourself is true power.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-48 Section-6)
When you feel important, you lose energy to the wear and tear of ego dignity so that there is little energy left to do the work. Self-importance, not work-importance, exhausts immature creatures; it is the self element that exhausts, not the effort to achieve. You can do important work if you do not become self-important; you can do several things as easily as one if you leave yourself out. Variety is restful; monotony is what wears and exhausts.

(From: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 - 1832)
How can you come to know yourself? Never by thinking, always by doing.

(From: Andre Gide (1869 - 1951)
Be faithful to that which exists nowhere but in yourself - and thus make yourself indispensable.

(From: Thomas a Kempis (1380 - 1471), 1420)
First keep the peace within yourself, then you can also bring peace to others.

(From: Mark Twain (1835 - 1910)
The best way to cheer yourself is to try to cheer someone else up.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-160 Section-4)
Train your memory to hold in sacred trust the strength-giving and worth-while episodes of life, which you can recall at will for your pleasure and edification. Thus build up for yourself and in yourself reserve galleries of beauty, goodness, and artistic grandeur. But the noblest of all memories are the treasured recollections of the great moments of a superb friendship.

(From: The RSV Bible - Matthew 22:37-40)
And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets."

The Sermon
***********
Whatsoever you do for others, and whatsoever you do for God… in Reality you are doing also and equally as much for Yourself.

The More Love I share, the more Love I experience.

Share yourself. There is no greater gift you can give or receive.

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales.

The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.

The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.

Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.

The little girl said, 'When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah'.

The teacher asked, 'What if Jonah went to hell?'

The little girl replied, 'Then you ask him'.

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

Wow… our 700th Sunday Service! I remember how astounded I felt the week I did Sunday Service #100. At the time it felt like quite a Milestone. I guess the milestones just keep on passing by until one reaches the end of the journey, and there is no end in sight

Well as fate would have it, there was also no topic in sight for today's service so I decided to, as I have done many times in the past, draw from the bag of “Runes” and see what inspiration may be revealed in it's message. After reading it a couple of times, one word in particular stood out to me…

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #700, is “Sharing…

Quotes

(From: The Book of Runes - #17 - Movement / Progress / A Horse (Ehwaz)

Ehwaz is a Rune of transit, transition and movement; of physical shifts, new dwelling places, new attitudes or new life. It also signifies movement in the sense of improving or bettering any situation.

There is about this Rune a sense of gradual development and steady progress, with the accompanying notion of slow growth through numerous shifts and changes. This could apply to the growth of a business or to the development of an idea. A relationship may need to undergo changes if it is to maintain growth and life. Moral effort and steadfastness are called for when you draw Ehwaz, another of the Cycle Runes. Let it be said this way: “As I cultivate my own nature, all else follows.”

This Rune's symbol is the horse, and it signifies the inseparable bond between horse and rider. Bronze Age artifacts show a horse drawing the sun across the sky. Here, this Rune is saying, you have progressed far enough to feel a measure of safety in your position. It is time to turn again and face the future reassured, prepared to share the good fortune that comes. The sharing is significant since it relates to the sun's power to foster life and illuminate all things with light.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-196 Section-3)
Jesus revealed and exemplified a religion of love: security in the Father's love, with joy and satisfaction consequent upon sharing this love in the service of the human brotherhood.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-180 Section-1)
If you would share the Master's joy, you must share his love. And to share his love means that you have shared his service. Such an experience of love does not deliver you from the difficulties of this world; it does not create a new world, but it most certainly does make the old world new.

(From: The ASB Bible - Hebrews 13:16)
And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

(From: Trey Parker and Matt Stone, South Park, Prehistoric Ice Man, 1999)
Living is having ups and downs and sharing them with friends.

(From: Kahlil Gibran (1883 - 1931)
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter and the sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

(From: The RSV Bible - Luke 3:11)
"He who has two coats, let him share with him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise."

(From: Buddha (563 BC - 483 BC)
If you knew what I know about the power of giving, you would not let a single meal pass without sharing it in some way.

(From: Winston Churchill)
The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of misery.

(From: Lady Bird Johnson (1912 - 2007)
It's odd that you can get so anesthetized by your own pain or your own problem that you don't quite fully share the hell of someone close to you.

(From: Cicero (106 BC - 43 BC), On Friendship, 44 B.C.)

Friendship make prosperity more shining and lessens adversity by dividing and sharing it.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-111 Section-5)
The doing of the will of God is nothing more or less than an exhibition of creature willingness to share the inner life with God--with the very God who has made such a creature life of inner meaning-value possible. Sharing is Godlike--divine.

(From: Og Mandino (1923 - 1996)
Realize that true happiness lies within you. Waste no time and effort searching for peace and contentment and joy in the world outside. Remember that there is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving. Reach out. Share. Smile. Hug. Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself.

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
There are those with much who share without love. Seen as a burden it brings no happiness.
How terribly sad. How very lonely they must be. No wonder they do not like to share…

There are those with little but Love to share and do so freely. Seen as a privilege it radiates joy.
Their pleasure is unmistakable and genuine.

There are those with little but Love to share and share it not.
Only two words come to mind… fear and misery.

There are those with much who share out of Love…

Share Love…
Share Life…

The details will work themselves out.

*******************************************
The Prayer
**********
Dear God,
It is from Your Love that we share, even when we know it not.

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

When things seem out of focus and the line between good and evil starts to appear a little blurred…

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #701, is Vision…

Quotes
*******
(From: Joan Boysenko, Pocketful of Miracles)
If our actions stem from honesty, kindness, caring, and vision, then no matter what the result of our efforts, we have added something of value to our souls and to the world.

(From: The KJV Bible - Proverbs 29:18)
Where there is no vision, the people perish

(From: Lily Langtry (1853 - 1929)
Anyone who limits her vision to memories of yesterday is already dead.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-2 7Section-)
The religious challenge of this age is to those farseeing and forward-looking men and women of spiritual insight who will dare to construct a new and appealing philosophy of living out of the enlarged and exquisitely integrated modern concepts of cosmic truth, universe beauty, and divine goodness. Such a new and righteous vision of morality will attract all that is good in the mind of man and challenge that which is best in the human soul. Truth, beauty, and goodness are divine realities, and as man ascends the scale of spiritual living, these supreme qualities of the Eternal become increasingly co-ordinated and unified in God, who is love.

(From: Orison Swett Marden (1850 - 1924)
We lift ourselves by our thought, we climb upon our vision of ourselves. If you want to enlarge your life, you must first enlarge your thought of it and of yourself.

(From: John Macy)
The wisest keeps something of the vision of a child. Though he may understand a thousand things that a child could not understand, he is always a beginner, close to the original meaning of life.

(From: Viggo Mortensen)
No matter what you pursue in life you can still express your own unique artistic vision. And that is the most important thing to do. It doesn't matter what those around you think or say about your art, what matters is to just go through the process of creating. It's only within that process that you can understand.

(From: Isaac Bashevis Singer (1904 - 1991)
Every creator painfully experiences the chasm between his inner vision and its ultimate expression.

(From: Edith Wharton (1862 - 1937)
True originality consists not in a new manner but in a new vision.

(From: Robert Collier)
Vision - It reaches beyond the thing that is, into the conception of what can be. Imagination gives you the picture. Vision gives you the impulse to make the picture your own.

(From: Jim Sorensen)
A vision without action is called a daydream; but then again, action without a vision is called a nightmare.

(From: Stevie Wonder)
Just because a man lacks the use of his eyes doesn't mean he lacks vision.

(From: Helen Keller (1880 - 1968)
Is there anything worse than being blind? Yes, a man with sight and no vision.

(From: Paul Harvey)
The world to a stupid man is his mouth. The world to a great man is his vision.

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
How is your Vision doing these days? Are you thoroughly satisfied with, and energized by it? Does it draw you ever closer to God and show you increasingly more Truth Beauty and Goodness? Or does it sometimes seem as if it may be time to view life through a “different pair of glasses?”

“There is none so blind as he who will not see”
(From: Ray Stevens - “Everything Is Beautiful.”)
