Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to The Church that is Within.

It is a Privilege today to Present, The First Church Within Service of Minister Angus...

Quotes
*******
(from: The RSV Bible - Matthew 5:10, 14-16)
"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.... you are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

(from: The RSV Bible - Haggai 2:4)
“Yet now take courage, O Zerub'babel, says the LORD; take courage, O Joshua, son of Jehoz'adak, the high priest; take courage, all you people of the land, says the LORD; work, for I am with you, says the LORD of hosts...”

(from: The RSV Bible - Romans 1:12)
“...that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.”

(from: The Urantia Papers – Paper-103 Section-2)
“Religion is functional in the human mind and has been realized in experience prior to its appearance in human consciousness. A child has been in existence about nine months before it experiences birth. But the "birth" of religion is not sudden; it is rather a gradual emergence. Nevertheless, sooner or later there is a "birth day." You do not enter the kingdom of heaven unless you have been "born again"--born of the Spirit. Many spiritual births are accompanied by much anguish of spirit and marked psychological perturbations, as many physical births are characterized by a "stormy labor" and other abnormalities of "delivery."

(from: The Urantia Papers – Paper-99 Section-3)
“The kingdom of heaven is neither a social nor economic order; it is an exclusively spiritual brotherhood of God-knowing individuals. True, such a brotherhood is in itself a new and amazing social phenomenon attended by astounding political and economic repercussions.”

(from: The Urantia Papers – Paper-39 Section-4)
“The keys of the kingdom of heaven are: sincerity, more sincerity, and more sincerity. All men have these keys. Men use them--advance in spirit status--by decisions, by more decisions, and by more decisions. The highest moral choice is the choice of the highest possible value, and always--in any sphere, in all of them--this is to choose to do the will of God.”

The Sermon
***********
Thank you Pastor Daniel, for the welcome.

It seems I have reached another crossroad in my life. Since I was about 16 years old, I have had a desire to “minister.” I have since learned that I can minister anywhere, anytime. So being ordained a “Minister” with Church Within really means that I have come to the realization of a life long dream to speak to a congregation, which is more specific to the visions and hopes I had as a teenager.

As I came to and crossed this threshold I couldn't help but reflect on those days in my youth when the desire minister came to me. It was probably a seed planted even years earlier when I learned so much in Sunday School classes and then endured the Sunday Sermons. The Pastor would speak to us children, on occasion and it was quite obvious when he did. It seemed to me that there was a different language and different rules for the adults, than we kids. The Pastor's examples, when he was obviously directing his message toward us young ones, we clear and simple. His message to the parents seemed serious, complicated and heavy.

Perhaps it was back then, when I was six or seven, that I got the urge to communicate God's message to people. The personal value of Sunday School classes continued to mean more to me, all the way through High School. I understand now it was a combination of both the person teaching the class and the chance to ask questions and apply what was being taught to my own life, that made those lessons more valuable to me. The Sermon was much more general...and sometimes vague, by comparison. The sermon was much more threatening and the need for conformity to the “way of the Church” became most obvious...especially to a teenager at the age of non-conformity.

In reflecting on those times, I recall the moment of commitment I made to doing God's will. Actually it was the decision to be “saved” that marked that moment for me. Depending upon which denomination and/or faith you experienced as a child, you know doubt can recall a time when you made a rational decision to follow God. If you are able to recall such a moment, perhaps you, as I did, can take that moment a little more seriously, in retrospect. Considering the path you are now following, it might be more obvious to you now that you may have had a yearning to find God's Path for you for as long as you can remember.

I recall some of the Icons of my youthful experience in the world of the Spiritual. Billy Graham was my biggest hero. I attended a Bible School in Canada for two years with hopes of going into the ministry. The problem was that the school was famous for graduating Missionaries and people who had a lot of talent in music. I was just 18 or 19 years old and I recall praying that God wouldn't send me to some far-off, remote place like Africa or South America to be a missionary. And as far as music ability was concerned I was terribly inept. I was careful not to sing in the shower for fear of torturing those around me. I was bad..really awful, so I decided I wanted to get into Youth Ministry. It was safe and closer to civilized society and yet it wasn't austere like the Pastors I had known. I wanted to be part of something exciting and full of energy and with all the conveniences of home, like running water, electricity, cars, radio and TV.
Circumstances led me elsewhere. I became basically unaffiliated with any Church and started investigating other forms of belief and over the next 12 years I found highlights in the various philosophies I delved into, until I came upon something that seemed to bring it all together. Perhaps it was at an age where wisdom starts to kick-in, but my discovery of cohesiveness in the Universe was an epiphany. I spent nearly 27 years with my discovery..alone, void of the opinions of others, absent of dogma or ritual, yet very personal and fulfilling. I literally went to the church within, all those years.

More recently my spiritual world has been expanded; socialized. I have discovered that millions of souls around our planet have been making similar discoveries about themselves, the universe and our Source over the past 40 years or more. It's as if a light has been turned on and a lot of the darkness and fear has been exposed. People all over the world are experiencing the presence of God in their very being. The Paths to this discovery are as varied as those who have sought the way. And for most of the last 30 plus years, this discovery has demonstrated itself, through me, as a condemnation of the old ways. I have held a grudge against those who only led me part-way to the truth.

Very recently I have been led to realize that this attitude of mine, while giving me the strength to take a Path of discovery, was now weakening my effectiveness for further discovery. This past week I reflected upon that moment of commitment I made so many years ago and how, had it not been for that moment and all the circumstances surrounding it, I wouldn't be where I am today. Whatever the circumstances were that brought me to the moment of realizing that I wanted to seek God and serve Him, were invaluable. Thus I realized, then, that you and millions of others, have, at sometime, made a decision to discover God and that God has revealed Himself to each of you in His very personalized fashion.

The results are, that you and God have made a pact and what you and God create from that mutual agreement is sacred; individually exclusive from all others.

Today I encourage you to trust that union of purpose that you and God contractually agreed to. It matters not what venue or belief system sparked your inner desire to be a tool of God. The fact that you made that decision, or are about to, is all that matters. Be thankful for the overcare of our Heavenly Father for creating the circumstances that brought you to that critical moment. You are vital to the fulfillment of His plan and it matters not others are doing. Your life will make His tapestry complete.

*******************************************
The Prayer
**********
Father, thank you for caring about me, personally. Thank you for personally creating me and for having the best plan possible for me to discover and follow. May I continually and consistently see past my impaired material vision and hear that inner voice that wishes only to lead me down the Path with the most promise. Give me the courage to be all that you intended me to be with the realization that you indwell each of us. Help me to discover YOU in every person I meet and help me reflect your divine presence within me. Teach me about Love.

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to The Church that is Within.

Well my Family, Church Within is Now Within a Forest. We have FINALLY moved in to our New Abode amid 5 acres of Ponderosa Pine and Red Fir trees in Post Falls Idaho!!! We are less than 2mi from the Idaho/Washington Border (about equidistant from Coeur d'Alene, ID and Spokane, WA). The Loving Community Association---Pastor Daniel Joseph Megow; Ministers: Jill Mary Megow; Angus Bowen; and Gerdean O'Dell Bowen; and Danny Joshua Megow---will be the "Resident Co-Creators" and "Potential Releasers" for this Garden Forest Center of Love and Light and Life. I Hope you will all one day come to Visit us in our New Location! (Note the New Address and Phone Number in the Signature Line following today's e-mail Service.)

This is a Big Step in the Right Direction for us---it is the first Permanent location for us since we became an Incorporated Non-Profit, ALL Faith, Non-Doctrinal Church in the fourth quarter of 1995. Since the Birth of Church Within, we have lived in an Old but nice two-story rental in Spokane ['95-'96], on the road (traveling the West for 2+ months)[Summer '96], in an airy Summer Cabin in North Idaho (during the Winter without running water)[Late Fall '96 - Spring '97], In a North Idaho KOA Campground (at least we could take Hot Showers again), in an 800sq.ft. 2br Duplex in Coeur d'Alene (Quite a Luxury at that point in our Journey... 'till we Thoroughly OutGrew it)[Aug. '97 - May 10 '2000], and Finally... we are Home [May 11th in the year AD2000 - the Afterlife ;-)].

It is GOOD to be Home. It has been a Long and Challenging and Fruitful Road getting here... and Now, the Journey begins Anew...

Quotes

(from: The NASBible - John I 5:4)
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world -- our faith.

(from: The Urantia Papers – Paper-12 Section-7)
The love of the Father absolutely individualizes each personality as a unique child of the Universal Father, a child without duplicate in infinity, a will creature irreplaceable in all eternity. The Father's love glorifies each child of God, illuminating each member of the celestial family, sharply silhouetting the unique nature of each personal being against the impersonal levels that lie outside the fraternal circuit of the Father of all. The love of God strikingly portrays the transcendent value of each will creature, unmistakably reveals the high value which the Universal Father has placed upon each and every one of his children from the highest creator personality of Paradise status to the lowest personality of will dignity among the savage tribes of men in the dawn of the human species on some evolutionary world of time and space.

(from: “Veronica” – Hawaii TeaM transcript)
Your repeated denial of your worth is not true humility but a denial of your sonship and daughtership with the Father.

Quotes

(from: The Urantia Papers – Paper-118 Section-10)
The love of the Father operates directly in the heart of the individual, independent of the actions or reactions of all other individuals; the relationship is personal--man and God.

(From: The RSB Bible - Mark 9:36-40)
And he took a child, and put him in the midst of them; and taking him in his arms, he said to them, "Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me."
John said to him, "Teacher, we saw a man casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he was not following us."
But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him; for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon after to speak evil of me. For he that is not against us is for us.

(from: The Urantia Papers – Paper-196 Section-0)
The faith of Jesus visualized all spirit values as being found in the kingdom of God; therefore he said, "Seek first the kingdom of heaven." Jesus saw in the advanced and ideal fellowship of the kingdom the achievement and fulfillment of the "will of God." The very heart of the prayer which he taught his disciples was, "Your kingdom come; your will be done." Having thus conceived of the kingdom as comprising the will of God, he devoted himself to the cause of its realization with amazing self-forgetfulness and unbounded enthusiasm. But in all his intense mission and throughout his extraordinary life there never appeared the fury of the fanatic nor the superficial frothiness of the religious egotist.
The Master's entire life was consistently conditioned by this living faith, this sublime religious experience. This spiritual attitude wholly dominated his thinking and feeling, his believing and praying, his teaching and preaching. This personal faith of a son in the certainty and security of the guidance and protection of the heavenly Father imparted to his unique life a profound endowment of spiritual reality.

(from: The Urantia Papers – Paper-160 Section-5)
If something has become a religion in your experience, it is self-evident that you already have become an active evangel of that religion since you deem the supreme concept of your religion as being worthy of the worship of all mankind, all universe intelligences. If you are not a positive and missionary evangel of your religion, you are self-deceived in that what you call a religion is only a traditional belief or a mere system of intellectual philosophy. If your religion is a spiritual experience, your object of worship must be the universal spirit reality and ideal of all your spiritualized concepts.

(from: The Tao Te Ching – 14)
Approach it and there is no beginning; follow it and there is no end.
You can't know it, but you can Be it, at ease in your own life.
Just realize where you come from: this is the essence of wisdom.

(from: The Urantia Papers – Paper-143 Section-2)
[ Jesus ]
“Self-mastery is the measure of man's moral nature and the indicator of his spiritual development. In the old order you fasted and prayed; as the new creature of the rebirth of the spirit, you are taught to believe and rejoice. In the Father's kingdom you are to become new creatures; old things are to pass away; behold I show you how all things are to become new. And by your love for one another you are to convince the world that you have passed from bondage to liberty, from death into life everlasting.
"By the old way you seek to suppress, obey, and conform to the rules of living; by the new way you are first transformed by the Spirit of Truth and thereby strengthened in your inner soul by the constant spiritual renewing of your mind, and so are you endowed with the power of the certain and joyous performance of the gracious, acceptable, and perfect will of God. Forget not--it is your personal faith in the exceedingly great and precious promises of God that ensures your becoming partakers of the divine nature. Thus by your faith and the spirit's transformation, you become in reality the temples of God, and his spirit actually dwells within you. If, then, the spirit dwells within you, you are no longer bondslaves of the flesh but free and liberated sons of the spirit. The new law of the spirit endows you with the liberty of self-mastery in place of the old law of the fear of self-bondage and the slavery of self-denial.

(a Zen Parable)
A Japanese warrior was captured by his enemies and thrown into prison. That night he was unable to sleep because he feared that the next day he would be interrogated, tortured, and executed. Then the words of his Zen master came to him, "Tomorrow is not real. It is an illusion. The only reality is Now." Heeding these words, the warrior became peaceful and fell asleep.

The Sermon
***********
When one begins Walking with Conscious Purpose and Loving Intent towards God---WITH God and FOR God---they Open the Doorway for Unlimited Grace... Unlimited Spiritual Growth... Unlimited Love. The Past begins to make a little more Sense to them (not all at Once mind you---it would be Far Too Overwhelming on such a world as This---rather, the understanding of their past comes one small piece at a time)... the Future for them then becomes something to look Forward to with Childlike Excitement and Wonder... Life takes on a Whole New and Invigorating Perspective... they begin Seeing things in a very different Light... a Brilliant and Loving and Peaceful Light. "Now" becomes for them the time for Love, the time for Being With God, the time for Life to be Lived, a time of Purpose and Action. Their Entire Past is recognized as what has gotten them to Right Here-Right Now, and sincerely Being Right Here and Right Now is what they Know will serve to unfold their Greatest and Highest Potential in the Future to come. God's Will is no longer something to fear, nor merely just something to Do. No. For Them, God's will is something to Discover, something to Accomplish, Something to BE!

God how I'd Love to Be like that all the time... Consistently! Wouldn't You? Those times when I live like that just feel So Good... So Right... So Peaceful... So full of Light and Life... so Full of God! It just changes my whole Outlook on the world and my Whole Attitude towards it. What must I yet Change about myself that I may one day be like that ALL the time? What outworn Perspectives, what Learned Responses must I let fall away before it Can happen? What Growth do I require for it to become a Sustained Reality in my life?
The Answers for me, or the Answers for you, can Only come from Within... from God.

What is Your Will for me today God? What is Your Will for me Right NOW?

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

Well... as regards the process of "settling in" to our new environment... We're missing it Closer! Soon the Real work can begin.

Being a Wood Sculptor, I'm pretty used to cutting away unnecessary or unusable wood or wood that still hides the Sculpture. I never imagined that I was one day going to be a "Woods" Sculptor as Well. It turns out that we are going to have to take out as much as 90% of the Pines on our property because of Pine Beetles and disease in order to promote and have a Healthy Garden-Forest. At first I was a bit disappointed that so Much of our forest would have to be cut down, but this morning while overlooking it all in Stillness/Meditation, I began seeing it through the eyes of a sculptor and realizing that it will only become more Beautiful as we cut away the unhealthy woods that still hide the Garden Sculpture Within.

Hmmm... Here's an interesting thought or two...

********************************************
Quotes
*******
(From: The RSB Bible - John 4:34-38)
Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to accomplish his work. Do you not say, 'There are yet four months, then comes the harvest'? I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see how the fields are already white for harvest. He who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. For here the saying holds true, 'One sows and another reaps.' I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor; others have labored, and you have entered into their labor."

(From: “The Center Within” – by: Harris and Belitsos p.217)
What will you pass on to the next generation? This empty shell of a building, for them to divine its purpose? Or will you begin from where you are, building the living church that the Master taught, and put his enlightened and progressive teachings into action this day, in this place, for the Father to look upon with loving approval? Time is wasting, and only so many days are allotted to each of you. If not today, then when do you propose to get about the Father's business?

(From: The RSB Bible - Corinthians I 12:29-31)
Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way.

(Quote attributed to Buddha)
The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.

(from: The Urantia Papers – Paper-118 Section-1)
To become mature is to live more intensely in the present, at the same time escaping from the limitations of the present. The plans of maturity, founded on past experience, are coming into being in the present in such manner as to enhance the values of the future.
The time unit of immaturity concentrates meaning-value into the present moment in such a way as to divorce the present of its true relationship to the not-present--the past-future. The time unit of maturity is proportioned so to reveal the co-ordinate relationship of past-present-future that the self begins to gain insight into the wholeness of events, begins to view the landscape of time from the panoramic perspective of broadened horizons, begins perhaps to suspect the nonbeginning, nonending eternal continuum, the fragments of which are called time.

(from: “The Tao of Pooh” by Benjamin Hoff p.151)
It starts when we are children, helpless but aware of things, enjoying what is around us. Then we reach adolescence, still helpless but trying to at least appear independent. When we outgrow that stage, we become adults—self-sufficient individuals able and mature enough to help others as we have learned to help ourselves.
But the adult is not the highest stage of development. The end of the cycle is that of the independent, clear-minded, all-seeing Child. That is the level known as wisdom. When the Tao Te Ching and other wise books say things like, “Return to the beginning; become a child again,” that's what they're referring to. Why do the enlightened seem filled with light and happiness, like children? Why do they sometimes even look and talk like children? Because they are. The wise are Children Who Know.

(from: The Urantia Papers – Paper-131 Section-8)
"All good works of true service come from the Supreme. All things depend on the Great Source for life. The Great Supreme seeks no credit for his bestowals. He is supreme in power, yet he remains hidden from our gaze. He unceasingly transmutes his attributes while perfecting his creatures. The heavenly Reason is slow and patient in his designs but sure of his accomplishments. The Supreme overspreads the universe and sustains it all. How great and mighty are his overflowing influence and drawing power! True goodness is like water in that it blesses everything and harms nothing. And like water, true goodness seeks the lowest places, even those levels which others avoid, and that is because it is akin to the Supreme. The Supreme creates all things, in nature nourishing them and in spirit perfecting them. And it is a mystery how the Supreme fosters, protects, and perfects the creature without compelling him. He guides and directs, but without self-assertion. He ministers progression, but without domination.
"The wise man universalizes his heart. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Those who aspire to greatness must learn to humble themselves. In creation the Supreme became the world's mother. To know one's mother is to recognize one's sonship. He is a wise man who regards all parts from the point of view of the whole. Relate yourself to every man as if you were in his place. Recompense injury with kindness. If you love people, they will draw near you--you will have no difficulty in winning them.
"The Great Supreme is all-pervading; he is on the left hand and on the right; he supports all creation and indwells all true beings. You cannot find the Supreme, neither can you go to a place where he is not. If a man recognizes the evil of his ways and repents of sin from the heart, then may he seek forgiveness; he may escape the penalty; he may change calamity into blessing. The Supreme is the secure refuge for all creation; he is the guardian and savior of mankind. If you seek for him daily, you shall find him. Since he can forgive sins, he is indeed most precious to all men. Always remember that God does not reward man for what he does but for what he is; therefore should you extend help to your fellows without the thought of rewards. Do good without thought of benefit to the self.

(from: The Tao Te Ching – Chapter 48)
In pursuit of knowledge, every day something is added.
In the practice of Wisdom, every day something is dropped.
Less and less do you need to force things, until finally you arrive at non-action.
When nothing is done, nothing is left undone.

The Sermon
***********
Why is it that human beings spend so Much time working on What They Do, and so Little time working on Who They Are?

Everything we do and How we do it is inescapably CONDITIONED by Who we Are, for goodness sake! No matter What we Do, Who We Are shows through.

Why is it that human beings spend so Much time working on What They Do, and so Little time working on Who They Are?

It says in the bible: "So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit. A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit." (Matthew 7:17-18) To Me that says that Who I Am Determines what I do. Does That make Sense?

Why is it that human beings spend so Much time working on What They Do, and so Little time working on Who They Are?

We've been told Over and Over again by Many different sources that we are God's Children, and that we must Become as Little Children to enter the Portals of Eternity. If that's who we Are, then shouldn't we act differently than how we Do? Shouldn't we Act like God's Children?
What if... what if we were to, say... go about working at Being the way we think a son or daughter of God would be? I Wonder what I might Do then? Would I act petty or jealous or put upon... would I have Any reason to lie or cheat or steal... would I carry resentment or put others down or seek for revenge? No... I don't THINK so!
Well then... how Would I act as God's Child? Would I accept others for who They Are and Value their Uniqueness and Honor their individual path to God... would I seek for those things that are Lovable about others and would I Be the most Lovable person I could possibly be and would I strive to make the world a Better, Healthier, more Loving place than it Is... would I Dedicate my life to God and to Love and to Compassion and to Service and to Being the Very Best Child of God I could Be? Ya Think?

        Hmmm...

Why is it that human beings spend so Much time working on What They Do, and so Little time working on Who They Are?

        I don't know... do You?
