(by: Charles B. Vaughan)
A grandfather was walking through his yard when he heard his granddaughter repeating the alphabet in a tone of voice that sounded like a prayer. He asked her what she was doing. The little girl explained: "I'm praying, but I can't think of exactly the right words, so I'm just saying all the letters, and God will put them together for me, because He knows what I'm thinking."

Do you know who your Father is?

(From: Mary Howitt)
God sends children for another purpose than merely to keep up the race - to enlarge our hearts; and to make us unselfish and full of kindly sympathies and affection; to give our shoulds higher aims; to call out all our faculties to extended enterprise and exertion and to bring round our firesides bright faces, happy smiles, and loving, tender hearts. My soul blesses the great Father, every day, that he has gladdened the earth with little children

(From: The RSV Bible - Matthew 23:9)
And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.

(From: Tyron Edwards)
Whoever in prayer can say, "Our Father," acknowledges and should feel the brotherhood of the whole race of mankind.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-99 Section-5)
Always keep in mind: True religion is to know God as your Father and man as your brother. Religion is not a slavish belief in threats of punishment or magical promises of future mystical rewards.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-141 Section-4)
In answer to Thomas's question, "Who is this God of the kingdom?" Jesus replied: "God is your Father, and religion--my gospel--is nothing more nor less than the believing recognition of the truth that you are his son.

(From: The RSV Bible - Matthew 6:9-14)
Pray then like this: Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our debts, As we also have forgiven our debtors; And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil.
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father also will forgive you

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-142 Section-6)
Jesus answered: "Already does the spirit of the Father in heaven indwell you. If you would be led by this spirit from above, very soon would you begin to see with the eyes of the spirit, and then by the wholehearted choice of spirit guidance would you be born of the spirit since your only purpose in living would be to do the will of your Father who is in heaven. And so finding yourself born of the spirit and happily in the kingdom of God, you would begin to bear in your daily life the abundant fruits of the spirit."

(From: The RSV Bible - Matthew 5:16)
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-141 Section-6)
Simply go forth proclaiming: This is the kingdom of heaven--God is your Father and you are his sons, and this good news, if you wholeheartedly believe it, is your eternal salvation."

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-149 Section-6)
Cease, then, to fear God as a king or serve him as a master; learn to reverence him as the Creator; honor him as the Father of your spirit youth; love him as a merciful defender; and ultimately worship him as the loving and all-wise Father of your more mature spiritual realization and appreciation.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-4 Section-4)
God is a Father in the highest sense of the term. He is eternally motivated by the perfect idealism of divine love, and that tender nature finds its strongest expression and greatest satisfaction in loving and being loved.

The Sermon
***********
God is YOUR True Father.
YOU are God's Very Own Beloved and Cherished Child.

Think about it!
Let it become the Essence of who you Are!
Never for a Moment Forget it!
Live each moment of your Life as you would expect a Son or Daughter of God to Live.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

There is nothing more Significant that I can add to that today.

The Prayer

Dear Father,
Thanks for giving birth to my Personality, to my Soul, and to my Spirit; without which I would be nothing more than an empty shell of biological matter.

You ALL are Within the Infinitely Loving Embrace of our Universal
Parent,

The Creator's Infinite Love to all of You,

Light And Life Garden Update
**************************
“The Faith Garden” is now completely encircled by an 8ft high wire Field Fence and protected from deer grazing. Our first 6 Blueberry plants are now planted within it's borders in their own raised bed and are beginning to grow profusely. The future Pathways and resting spots are starting to reveal their eventual placement among the outcroppings of Rock and the natural contours of the hill and the Wind Chimes are hung within and share their melody with each passing breeze.

Overlooking the new Faith Garden is the Patio Garden where the Jacuzzi and Apple tree are located. This week, Jill enhanced it's beauty with the planting of over 100 new flower plants. It's going to look Spectacular when they are all fully grown and in bloom. If all goes well, I hope to have the 24'X16' concrete brickwork area, the patio lawn and a 6ft Pine privacy fence surrounding it by the end of this summer.

We hope many of you will have the opportunity to come and enjoy it with us this year!

Quotes

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-180 Section-2)
When the branch of the vine is alive, there can be only one answer to all its petitions: increased grape bearing. In fact, the branch exists only for, and can do nothing except, fruit bearing, yielding grapes. So does the true believer exist only for the purpose of bearing the fruits of the spirit: to love man as he himself has been loved by God--that we should love one another, even as Jesus has loved us.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-191 Section-6)
"Peace be upon you. That which my Father sent me into the world to establish belongs not to a race, a nation, nor to a special group of teachers or preachers. This gospel of the kingdom belongs to both Jew and gentile, to rich and poor, to free and bond, to male and female, even to the little children. And you are all to proclaim this gospel of love and truth by the lives which you live in the flesh. You shall love one another with a new and startling affection, even as I have loved you. You will serve mankind with a new and amazing devotion, even as I have served you. And when men see you so love them, and when they behold how fervently you serve them, they will perceive that you have become faith-fellows of the kingdom of heaven, and they will follow after the Spirit of Truth which they see in your lives, to the finding of eternal salvation.”

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-100 Section-4)
In physical life the senses tell of the existence of things; mind discovers the reality of meanings; but the spiritual experience reveals to the individual the true values of life. These high levels of human living are attained in the supreme love of God and in the unselfish love of man. If you love your fellow men, you must have discovered their values. Jesus loved men so much because he placed such a high value upon them. You can best discover values in your associates by discovering their motivation. If some one irritates you, causes feelings of resentment, you should sympathetically seek to discern his viewpoint, his reasons for such objectionable conduct. If once you understand your neighbor, you will become tolerant, and this tolerance will grow into friendship and ripen into love.

The Sermon
***********
Good morning, one and all, and very special wishes to all you mothers for a day filled with love, joy, laughter and genuine appreciation for one another. And on that note, I will share a special story with you that I recently received from my cousin, Sharon.

“An elderly gent was invited to his old friend's home for dinner one evening. He was impressed by the way his buddy preceded every request to his wife with endearing terms, calling her Honey, My Love, Darling, Sweetheart, Pumpkin, etc. The couple had been married almost 70 years, and they were still very clearly in love.
While the wife was off in the kitchen, the man leaned over and said to his buddy, "I think it's wonderful that, after all the years you've been married, you still call your wife those loving pet names."
The old man hung his head. "I have to tell you the truth, he said. "I forgot her name about ten years ago."

At first we have a good chuckle over this, right?

But then it seemed to stir some additional thoughts for me. If it takes forgetting someone's name in order to be loving and endearing with words, well then, let's All forget each other's name and follow suit with this old gent! What a wonderful world it could be, eh?

Do you suppose we might all learn a lot about being genuinely caring toward one another if we followed this old gent's example?

If you were to meet up with a fellow sister or brother and great them with, “My dear friend,” could an indifferent or negative response follow? Hmmm.

What a vision! Each of us, in each moment of each day, Automatically (that means without thinking, ya know) being tender and appreciative in our words with one another.

Do ya think we just might reach a point of Automatically expressing care and loving feelings openly toward one another?

Some day?

Why not start today?

*******************************************
The Prayer
**********
Cherished Father, you gave us your Son, Jesus, as an example of Your Love. Jesus greeted every brother and sister with loving words and acts of kindness, always. Help us to all follow in his footsteps more fully each day.

May your days be filled with expressions of love, truth, beauty and goodness,

Minister Jill

What is it that gives you the most Lasting Satisfaction in Life?
Is it Money? Is it Things?

Quotes

(From: The KJV Bible - Luke 24:36)
And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

(From: The RSV Bible - John 14:27)
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

(From: Dwight D. Eisenhower 1890-1969)
I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it.

(From: Jawaharlal Nehru)
Peace is not a relationship of nations. It is a condition of mind brought about by a serenity of soul. Peace is not merely the absence of war. It is also a state of mind. Lasting peace can come only to peaceful people.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-1 Section-6)
The more completely man understands himself and appreciates the personality values of his fellows, the more he will crave to know the Original Personality, and the more earnestly such a God-knowing human will strive to become like the Original Personality. You can argue over opinions about God, but experience with him and in him exists above and beyond all human controversy and mere intellectual logic. The God-knowing man describes his spiritual experiences, not to convince unbelievers, but for the edification and mutual satisfaction of believers.

(From: Albert Schweitzer)
Until he extends his circle of compassion to include all living things, man will not himself find peace.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-34 Section-6)
Those who have received and recognized the indwelling of God have been born of the Spirit. "You are the temple of God, and the spirit of God dwells in you." It is not enough that this spirit be poured out upon you; the divine Spirit must dominate and control every phase of human experience.
It is the presence of the divine Spirit, the water of life, that prevents the consuming thirst of mortal discontent and that indescribable hunger of the unspiritualized human mind. Spirit-motivated beings "never thirst, for this spiritual water shall be in them a well of satisfaction springing up into life everlasting." Such divinely watered souls are all but independent of material environment as regards the joys of living and the satisfactions of earthly existence. They are spiritually illuminated and refreshed, morally strengthened and endowed.

(From: Thomas A. Kempis 1380-1471)
First keep the peace within yourself, then you can also bring peace to others.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-181 Section-1)
The peace of Jesus is the joy and satisfaction of a God-knowing individual who has achieved the triumph of learning fully how to do the will of God while living the mortal life in the flesh. The peace of Jesus' mind was founded on an absolute human faith in the actuality of the divine Father's wise and sympathetic overcare. Jesus had trouble on earth, he has even been falsely called the "man of sorrows," but in and through all of these experiences he enjoyed the comfort of that confidence which ever empowered him to proceed with his life purpose in the full assurance that he was achieving the Father's will.

(From: Richard Cardinal Cushing)
Love - love of God and fellow men. That is God's formula for peace. Peace on earth to men of good will.

(From: Ralph Waldo Emerson 1803-1882)
Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-56 Section-10)
To finite man truth, beauty, and goodness embrace the full revelation of divinity reality. As this love-comprehension of Deity finds spiritual expression in the lives of God-knowing mortals, there are yielded the fruits of divinity: intellectual peace, social progress, moral satisfaction, spiritual joy, and cosmic wisdom.

(From: John Lennon 1941-1980)
All we are saying is give peace a chance.

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-100 Section-6)
One of the most amazing earmarks of religious living is that dynamic and sublime peace, that peace which passes all human understanding, that cosmic poise which betokens the absence of all doubt and turmoil. Such levels of spiritual stability are immune to disappointment. Such religionists are like the Apostle Paul, who said: "I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else shall be able to separate us from the love of God."

(From: The Urantia Papers - Paper-181 Section-1)
The peace of Jesus is, then, the peace and assurance of a son who fully believes that his career for time and eternity is safely and wholly in the care and keeping of an all-wise, all-loving, and all-powerful spirit Father. And this is, indeed, a peace which passes the understanding of mortal mind, but which can be enjoyed to the full by the believing human heart.

(From: The RSV Bible - Luke 7:50)
And he said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

The Sermon
***********
The Mind is not long Satisfied, until the Soul is Truly at Peace.

Do you ever notice that?

Have you ever observed a person Truly at Peace?

They seem to have a certain Peace of Mind, don't they? There is little if anything that really seems to bother them. They almost seem to radiate Peace like they have a kind of Aura around them or something… do you think? They Also rarely, if ever, look as if they are unsatisfied. The very Simplest of things can give them what appears to be a great deal of Pleasure and Satisfaction. Defeat doesn't slow them down. It Stimulates them! An apparent Failure doesn't paralyze them into inaction. It Motivates them to keep on trying. They exhibit Contentment without Complacency… Success without Arrogance… Surety without Conceit.

What is it that They have, that so Many (the vast Majority in fact), Don't have?

I propose that it is “Peace of Soul” that They have that the mass of humanity does not.

What is Peace of Soul? Well… if you aren't at Peace with Yourself you Don't have it, DO you? And if you are not at Peace with God, then you are Likely not fully at Peace in your Soul… ARE ya? Would it be safe to presume that if one is Totally and Personally at Peace with God, that they would likewise be fully at Peace with Themselves? I have Faith that that is so, and so far in my life I have not experienced that it is Otherwise.

Are you at Peace in your Soul?

Are you at Peace with Others?

Are you at Peace with Yourself?

Are you at Peace with God?

Make Peace.

Start with God and End with God.

…and then shall you have it within yourself.

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

Having grown up in San Diego, CA for 36 years of my life, I had a very different understanding of Springtime than I do up here in Northwestern Idaho.
Now springtime means that I don't have to shovel and plow snow anymore for a few seasons… I can drive the speed limit without worrying about black ice or sliding off the road… And… the soil isn't frozen anymore and I have a relatively small window of time to plant things before it's too late in the season for the plants to produce.
In San Diego the sight of snow and ice meant I was driving up to the mountains to go skiing or for some other type of recreation. And I could plant just about anything I wanted, just about anytime I wanted, and it would just about grow year round. So for Me growing up, Springtime meant only One Thing! BASEBALL!

(contributed by Sharon Herth)
A Little League baseball game was being played in a park near my home.
As I sat down behind the bench on the first-base line, I asked one of the
boys what the score was.
“We're behind 14 to nothing,” he answered with a smile.

"Really," I said. "I have to say you don't sound very discouraged."
"Discouraged?" the boy asked with a puzzled look on his face. "Why
should we be discouraged? We haven't been up to bat yet!"

The Sermon
***********
How many times have life challenges felt like 14-0 to you?

If I am honest with you all, I have to say, “Too many!” for me. As I ponder some of those experiences, I realize, through the wisdom of the little boy above, that I wasn't perceiving my life too well. I never was “into” baseball…
My adult problems often seemed like ongoing sagas to me. One miserable problem piled up on the other. And you know what, they Did pile up one on the other. Why? I didn't know about baseball! I didn't know “how” to move into the batters box of life and swing with all my might and score a run, much less a homer! Not for many, many years. I wonder how many of you look back and realize the same thing. I suspect it is experienced more by females than males. At least in my generation (way back in the cave man age as my young step son referred to me once), little boys were encouraged to be aggressive and speak up and speak out for themselves, AND play baseball. Little girls were taught to be quiet, polite, look pretty and be Agreeable. Always be a good little girl. Never stand up for yourself. “That” wasn't proper. It wasn't ladylike.
So when I think about my childhood, I realize I felt the score was 14-0 against me much of the time. Now I can see that equally important with not knowing “how” to move into the batter's box of life, was the fact that I didn't even have “permission” to step into the batter's box. “Good little girls” didn't bring attention to themselves. I can remember a few times, however, when my older sister threw off the shackles of “proper behavior” and she would go to the batter's box and hit a home run for the both of us. I always marveled at her guts as a teenager to stand up to my dad. I was truly scared to death of him. However, I never learned how to do it until many years later.
So, unfortunately, I spent most of my years up until late middle age not recognizing that the only reason my problems piled up was because I had not yet been to the batter's box! I let the other teams of life keep hitting the home runs. Sound familiar to any of you?

And even today, with the wisdom I Have managed to gain through Over a half century of living (Whew! I Better have a Little wisdom, don'cha think?), I come to realize through this delightful story of the little boy, that I need a lot of conscious training and practice to be able to greet every moment of challenge with the True and Correct perception of, “Oh, no problem. I haven't been up to bat yet!”

How's your life going? Been up to bat yet?

Let's all listen for the umpire's booming voice, “Batter Up!” and step forward and make a home run with God within us as our invisible partner, with every new challenge that comes our way.

*******************************************
The Prayer
**********
Dear God,
Wanna help me make my next home run? I thought so!

*****************

May God and the Batter's Box be with you consciously each day,

Minister Jill
