Quotes:
******
(Matthew 5:14-24)
"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

("The Urantia Papers" paper-140 section-4)
"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and be led to glorify your Father who is in heaven."
"While light dispels darkness, it can also be so "blinding" as to confuse and frustrate. We are admonished to let our light so shine that our fellows will be guided into new and godly paths of enhanced living. Our light should so shine as not to attract attention to self. Even one's vocation can be utilized as an effective "reflector" for the dissemination of this light of life."
"Strong characters are not derived from not doing wrong but rather from actually doing right. Unselfishness is the badge of human greatness. The highest levels of self-realization are attained by worship and service. The happy and effective person is motivated, not by fear of wrongdoing, but by love of right doing."

The Sermon:
**********
" Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and be led to glorify your Father who is in heaven."

When you give to someone a smile, a helping hand, a gift of yourself, of your service... Then does your Light so Shine.
When you are following your Heart and your Soul... Then does your Light so Shine.
When you are using and sharing those gifts given you by the Creator... Then does your Light so Shine.
When you honestly Care for someone or something... Then does your Light so Shine.
When you embrace and openly support a "Cause" which is dear to your heart... Then does your Light so Shine.
When you are motivated by "the love of right doing"... Then does your Light so Shine.

We constantly have opportunities to let our Light Shine... to be the 'Lamp' whereby the Creator's Light may shine. The more often we consciously choose to do what is "right"... the easier it becomes to do so unconsciously. When doing right genuinely becomes a joyful habit rather than a constantly difficult choice... then does the weight of the world begin to lift from our shoulders.

Be a Light!

"Follow your Heart."

The Prayer:

Dearest Creator... Dearest Source... Dearest Friend,

Help me to KNOW that You are my constant Companion... that You are everywhere present. Let me recognize Your presence in All that is good... within each sincere act of Goodness. For indeed, You are there. Let me ever learn more about You and become more and more Like You. Let Your Light become a Visible part of who I am... this I pray.

The Sermon:
**********

Children learn most by watching what we do, and least by listening to what we say.

What most do we teach the Children?

Do we teach them only to tell the Truth?
or that sometimes it's OK to lie...
Do we teach them to be always trustworthy and fair?
or only when it's convenient...
Do we teach them that there is always Hope?
or sometimes to despair...
Do we teach them dedication to Ideals?
or acceptance of the ugliness of present reality...
        Do we teach them forgiveness?
or revenge...
Do we teach them to Love?
or to fear...

Do we Show Children Truth, Beauty and Goodness...
or only tell them about it?

What were We shown as Children? Is it what we would pass on to the next generation... or not? If not, then we must become the break in the chain which sustains it. If So... then it must become a valued part of who we are.
Our personal Religion is not what we Believe but what we Live. Faith transforms Beliefs into Reality. When truly we have Faith... then are our Beliefs, exemplified in our Lives.
Have the Faith of a Little Child and Be an Example of your Ideals.

The Prayer:
*********

Oh Great Source of Love,
Show us how we may be an example of Your Goodness. I know that ever will I fall short, but bring me one step closer with each passing day. Let me thrill in the discovery of each new fragment of You, rather than despair over how often I have failed in the attempt. Help me to learn from my failures so I needn't repeat them. Remind me that I am forever... Your Servant... Your Child... Your Friend.
Teach me that I may become more and more like You.

What is it that we truly value in our life? What draws us ever onward... keeps us from quitting... makes it all worth while... exciting... exhilarating?

For me it is Control... Power... Wealth and Comfort. It always has been.

But now a little more often it is:
1.] Self Control that I so value... and
2.] Power over my animal nature... and
3.] the Wealth of experiences behind me and ahead of me... and
4.] the Comfort of knowing that my Divine Parent Loves me unconditionally in spite of my immaturity and incompleteness.

Yes! I DO value these things... I just can't seem to ever get enough of numbers one and two. -sigh- Number three... well there is certainly never a lack of experiences... my ability to always at every moment recognize their Worth could use some help at times though. Number four... Ah yes #4. It is this Comfort that I Value the Most. I am beginning to have complete Faith in the fact that "my Divine Parent Loves me unconditionally"... and it feels Good! It makes everything else worthwhile. All of the stupid mistakes and the skinned knees and bruises of growth become more tolerable when ya remember that your Divine Parent Loves you and cares for you no matter what.

And you know what else I value? I value you and your uniqueness. I may not always comprehend you or fully agree with you, but always does your expression of Truth, Beauty and Goodness expand my own understanding of them. In trying to understand your perspectives, I become better at understanding my own.

I Love you for that.

The Prayer:
*********

Dearest Source of All that is,
Thank you for Your Parental Love. I always feel safe and unafraid when I remember that You are always near. Help me to always remember. Show me how I may the better get control over my own nature that I may eventually give complete and total control of my personality to Your care.

Strengthen my Faith Dear Lord... help me to truly live that which I sincerely believe. And, help me to value those things which You know to be valuable for me.

Guide me in my growth Dear God. Whatever You choose... so would I also. I choose to choose Your Will. Help me to grow in my ability to do it.

A Quote
*******

"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And yet, when these birds flit about in quest of their sustenance, not one of them exists without the knowledge of the Father, the source of all life. To the seraphic guardians the very hairs of your head are numbered. And if all of this is true, why should you live in fear of the many trifles which come up in your daily lives? I say to you: Fear not; you are of much more value than many sparrows."
(The Urantia Papers - paper-165 section-3)

"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows."
(The Bible - Luke 12:6-7)

The Sermon
**********

Why do we fear?

Animals *seem* to fear everything... but do they? Do they live in fear the way we seem to at times? What is it that animals truly fear anyways? Watch animals... they fear nothing but that which immediately endangers their present survival. A heard being attacked by a predator acts Terrified... but the moment that immediate danger is passed, they graze as if nothing has happened. Birds will Flee from a meal in an instant upon being approached... and will be back at it in the next instant when danger has barely passed. To an animal, fear is an instantaneous thing... a live or die right now kind of thing. It is never dwelt upon... it is gone after it's usefullness has passed.

Do animals fear that they will starve? Do they fear that they will not have a place to rest or care for themselves and their young? Do they fear that they will not get what they deserve? No. Animals do not fear for the things necessary to their survival... they trust instinctively that Everything needed for survival is available to them. There is much we could learn from animals.

What is it that we are in fear of?

We humans have learned to fear just about everything. We are not content with fearing only real immediate danger... we also like to fear potential or possible opportunities for any kind of hurt... real or imagined.

We fear our own immaturity... our own incompleteness... as if God blames us for being young and inexperienced.

We have a tendency to fear not only for our physical survival, but our spiritual survival as well. Why?

Do we fear that God loves us less than the animals? "Fear not."

Do we fear that God condemns us for making immature mistakes? "Fear not."

Do we fear that God will ever abandon us? "Fear not."

Do we fear that God finds us unlovable? "Fear not."

"...why should you live in fear of the many trifles which come up in your daily lives? I say to you: Fear not; you are of much more value than many sparrows."

The Prayer
*********

Dearest Source of All that is,
Take away all of our fears. Remind us that what we are becoming moment by moment is far more important than what we are at this moment. All that You demand of us is Growth... help us to grow. All that You ask of us is Love... help us to Love. All that we truly need is to grow in Your Love... help us to grow in our ability to recognize and to share in Your Infinite Love.

Father's Uncompromising Love,
Daniel
