Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

There are some who would say it interferes with their freedom and others who would say that there can be no freedom without it…

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #733, is Law…

Quotes
*******
(From: “Jesus” - The Urantia Book - Paper-178 Section-1)
You must not seek to promulgate truth nor to establish righteousness by the power of civil governments or by the enaction of secular laws. You may always labor to persuade men's minds, but you must never dare to compel them. You must not forget the great law of human fairness which I have taught you in positive form: Whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do even so to them.

(From: Cicero, De Legibus (106 BC - 43 BC)
The people's good is the highest law.

(From: The ASB Bible - Matthew 7:12)
"In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

(From: Earl Warren (1891 - 1974)
It is the spirit and not the form of law that keeps justice alive.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-111 Section-6)
Man can find the love of God without facts, and man can discover the laws of God without love, but man can never begin to appreciate the infinite symmetry, the supernal harmony, the exquisite repleteness of the all-inclusive nature of the First Source and Center until he has found divine law and divine love and has experientially unified these in his own evolving cosmic philosophy.

(From: The Tao Te Ching - #32)
If powerful men and women
could remain centered in the Tao,
all things would be in harmony.
The world would become a paradise.
All people would be at peace,

(From: The RSV Bible - Romans 2:13-15)
For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. When Gentiles who have not the law do by nature what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or perhaps excuse them

(From: The RSV Bible - Romans 13:10)
Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-16 Section-7)
Morality can never be advanced by law or by force. It is a personal and freewill matter and must be disseminated by the contagion of the contact of morally fragrant persons with those who are less morally responsive, but who are also in some measure desirous of doing the Father's will.

(From: Immanuel Kant (1724 - 1804)
So act that your principle of action might safely be made a law for the whole world.

(From: The RSV Bible - Romans 7:22)
For I delight in the law of God, in my inmost self,

(From: L. S. Barksdale)
"It happens to each according to his consciousness," is the Law of Consciousness.

(From: Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC)
Law is order, and good law is good order.

(From: The ASB Bible - Galatians 5:22-23)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
and the law would be written in their hearts.

(From: Chaim Weizmann (1874 – 1952)
A law is something which must have a moral basis, so that there is an inner compelling force for every citizen to obey.

(From:
Martin Luther King Jr. (1929 - 1968)

I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law.

(From: Mahatma Gandhi (1869 - 1948)
In matters of conscience, the law of majority has no place.

(From: Plato (427 BC - 347 BC)
No law or ordinance is mightier than understanding.

(From: John F. Kennedy (1917 - 1963)
Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.

(From: John Christian Bovee)
The grandest of all laws is the law of progressive development. Under it, in the wide sweep of things, men grow wiser as they grow older, and societies better.

(From: Sidney Madwed)
Trust: Just as you would not want to do business with someone you can't trust, this law simply stated is: When you can completely trust the process of the universe and life, you will be supplied abundantly and you will be able to make your life work just the way you want it.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-12 Section-7)
There is operative throughout all time and space and with regard to all reality of whatever nature an inexorable and impersonal law which is equivalent to the function of a cosmic providence. Mercy characterizes God's attitude of love for the individual; impartiality motivates God's attitude toward the total.

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

What is it that you see when you look into a mirror?

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #734, is Reflecting…

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
'The Eyes are the Windows to the Soul' wherein one may see the Precious Love of the Indwelling Divine. The greatest Gift we may share with others is Reflecting that unfiltered Love back to them that they may experience your sincere appreciation of it.

Reflecting another's Inner Beauty to them allows them to Reflect back to you, your own.

Be a Mirror of God's Love.

Reflect.

Quotes
*******
(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-143 Section-7)
Worship is intended to anticipate the better life ahead and then to reflect these new spiritual significances back onto the life which now is. Prayer is spiritually sustaining, but worship is divinely creative.
Worship is the technique of looking to the One for the inspiration of service to the many.

(From: The RSV Bible - Hebrews 1:3)
He reflects the glory of God and bears the very stamp of his nature, upholding the universe by his word of power.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-117 Section-1)
And having discovered and received this divine affection, men can aspire to reveal this love to their brethren in the flesh. Such creature affection is a true reflection of the love of the Supreme.

(From: Denis Laura Bennett, Crossing Jordan)
I figured out how to know when you're really loved. It's when you see yourself reflected, really reflected in the other person's eyes, and you know it's the same for them.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-132 Section-7)
That which the enlightened and reflective human imagination of spiritual teaching and leading wholeheartedly and unselfishly wants to do and be, becomes measurably creative in accordance with the degree of mortal dedication to the divine doing of the Father's will. When man goes in partnership with God, great things may, and do, happen.

(From: Edith Wharton (1862 - 1937)
There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.

(From: William Hart Coleridge)
There is an art of which every man should be a master, the art of reflection.

(From: Shakti Gawain)
When I'm trusting and being myself... everything in my life reflects this by falling into place easily, often miraculously.

(From: Charles Dickens (1812 - 1870)
Reflect on your present blessings, of which every man has many; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.

(From: Amber Deckers, Ella Mental and the Good Sense Guide)
How you treat others is a direct reflection of how you feel about yourself.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-130 Section-2)
"Will is that manifestation of the human mind which enables the subjective consciousness to express itself objectively and to experience the phenomenon of aspiring to be Godlike." And it is in this same sense that every reflective and spiritually minded human being can become creative.

(From: Washington Irving (1783 - 1859)
Happiness is reflective, like the light of heaven.

(From: J. Gregory Keyes)
The mirror never sees itself. The reflection never is itself.

Welcome by: Pastor Daniel

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within.

With Winter and the Holidays coming and all…
Sometimes Life can feel a little frantic…
Perhaps unnecessarily…

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #735, is The Calm…

********************************************
Quotes
*******
(From:
Plato (427 BC - 347 BC)

He who is of calm and happy nature will hardly feel the pressure of age, but to him who is of an opposite disposition youth and age are equally a burden.

(From: The Tao Te Ching - #64)
What is rooted is easy to nourish.
What is recent is easy to correct.
What is brittle is easy to break.
What is small is easy to scatter.

Prevent trouble before it arises.
Put things in order before they exist.
The giant pine tree
grows from a tiny sprout.
The journey of a thousand miles
starts from beneath your feet.

Rushing into action, you fail.
Trying to grasp things, you lose them.
Forcing a project to completion,
you ruin what was almost ripe.

Therefore the Master takes action
by letting things take their course.
He remains as calm
at the end as at the beginning.
He has nothing,
thus has nothing to lose.
What he desires is non-desire;
what he learns is to unlearn.
He simply reminds people
of who they have always been.
He cares about nothing but the Tao.
Thus he can care for all things.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-91 Section-7)
Genuine spiritual ecstasy is usually associated with great outward calmness and almost perfect emotional control.

(From: Queen Victoria)
Great events make me quiet and calm; it is only trifles that irritate my nerves.

(From: The Book of Runes - #8 )
Being centered and grounded, freeing yourself from all unwanted influences, and seeing the humor, you are indeed prepared to open yourself to the Will of Heaven, and can await your deliverance with calm certainty.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-91 Section-4)
Remember, even if prayer does not change God, it very often effects great and lasting changes in the one who prays in faith and confident expectation. Prayer has been the ancestor of much peace of mind, cheerfulness, calmness, courage, self-mastery, and fair-mindedness in the men and women of the evolving races.

(From: The RSV Bible - Psalm 131:2)
But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a child quieted at its mother's breast; like a child that is quieted is my soul.

(From: Olga Ilyin)
It had only been my repeated experience that when you said to life calmly and firmly... 'I trust you; do what you must,' life had an uncanny way of responding to your need.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-100 Section-2)
Jesus portrayed the profound surety of the God-knowing mortal when he said: "To a God-knowing kingdom believer, what does it matter if all things earthly crash?" Temporal securities are vulnerable, but spiritual sureties are impregnable. When the flood tides of human adversity, selfishness, cruelty, hate, malice, and jealousy beat about the mortal soul, you may rest in the assurance that there is one inner bastion, the citadel of the spirit, which is absolutely unassailable; at least this is true of every human being who has dedicated the keeping of his soul to the indwelling spirit of the eternal God.
After such spiritual attainment, whether secured by gradual growth or specific crisis, there occurs a new orientation of personality as well as the development of a new standard of values. Such spirit-born individuals are so remotivated in life that they can calmly stand by while their fondest ambitions perish and their keenest hopes crash; they positively know that such catastrophes are but the redirecting cataclysms which wreck one's temporal creations preliminary to the rearing of the more noble and enduring realities of a new and more sublime level of universe attainment.

(From: Willa Cather (1873 - 1947), The Song of the Lark, 1915)
There are some things you learn best in calm, and some in storm.

(From: Seneca (5 BC - 65 AD)
Nothing is so bitter that a calm mind cannot find comfort in it.

(From: Julie-Jeanne-Eleonore de Lespinasse, O Magazine, October 2002)
If you can attain repose and calm, believe that you have seized happiness.

(From: Charlotte Bronte (1816 - 1855), Jane Eyre)
I hold a creed, which no one ever taught me, and which I seldom mention, but in which I delight, and to which I cling, for it extends hope to all; it makes eternity a rest - a mighty home - not a terror and an abyss. With this creed, I can so clearly distinguish between the criminal and his crime, I can so sincerely forgive the first while I abhor the last; with this creed, revenge never worries my heart, degradation never too deeply disgusts me, injustice never crushes me too low; I live in calm, looking to the end.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-191 Section-8)
To some individuals prayer is the calm expression of gratitude; to others, a group expression of praise, social devotions; sometimes it is the imitation of another's religion, while in true praying it is the sincere and trusting communication of the spiritual nature of the creature with the anywhere presence of the spirit of the Creator.

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
Ever feel worried or anxious or even frantic about getting things done just so you can have a few uninterrupted moments of Calmness for some Inner Peace and Tranquility?

Wouldn't it be much better to establish the Calm first? Then would the doing be accomplished in tranquil peace and seem not a chore but a gift… and Calmness would still be a reward at the end.

Calmness comes from Within.

Calmness is a result of being and sharing with God.

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #736, is “The Dream…”

Quotes
*******
(From:
Lewis Carroll (1832 - 1898)
Surely your gladness need not be the less for the thought that you will one day see a brighter dawn than this - when lovelier sights will meet your eyes than any waving trees or rippling waters - when angel-hands shall un-draw your curtains, and sweeter tones than ever loving Mother breathed shall wake you to a new and glorious day - and when all the sadness, and the sin, that darkened life on this little earth, shall be forgotten like the dreams of a night that is past!

(From:
Christopher Reeve)

So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.

(From: Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862)
If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.

(From: William James (1842 - 1910)
Most people never run far enough on their first wind to find out they've got a second. Give your dreams all you've got and you'll be amazed at the energy that comes out of you!!

(From: Woodrow Wilson (1856 - 1924)
We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter's evening. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true.

(From: John Updike)
Dreams come true. Without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them.

(From: Friedrich von Schiller (1759 - 1805)
Keep true to the dreams of thy youth.

(From: Oprah Winfrey)
The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams.

(From: Og Mandino (1923 - 1996)
The victory of success is half won when one gains the habit of setting goals and achieving them. Even the most tedious chore will become endurable as you parade through each day convinced that every task, no matter how menial or boring, brings you closer to fulfilling your dreams.

(From: Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862)
Go Confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined.

(From: Langston Hughes)
Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly.

(From: Carl Jung (1875 - 1961)
To me dreams are part of nature, which harbors no intention to deceive but expresses something as best it can.

(From: John C. Maxwell, The 21 Indispensible Qualities of a Leader)
Never allow others to put obstacles in the pathway of your dreams.

(From: Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882 - 1945)
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-195 Section-7)
The universe is not like the laws, mechanisms, and the uniformities which the scientist discovers, and which he comes to regard as science, but rather like the curious, thinking, choosing, creative, combining, and discriminating scientist who thus observes universe phenomena and classifies the mathematical facts inherent in the mechanistic phases of the material side of creation. Neither is the universe like the art of the artist, but rather like the striving, dreaming, aspiring, and advancing artist who seeks to transcend the world of material things in an effort to achieve a spiritual goal.

(From: Josie Bisset)
Dreams come a size too big so that we may grow into them.

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
There are several types of Dreams that we all have…

There are Night Dreams of course. These include a number of different varieties… but since it is not the category of Dreams we will be dealing with today, set's suffice it to say, “You know what they are.” (Though of course there are a myriad of different perceptions as to their actual significance.) They control you more so that you control them, though some have attained a relative measure of influence within the given Dream environment.

Then there are the Dreams we have that, at least in some if not many ways, are reliant upon the active and willing participation/co-operation of other individuals for their fulfillment. These can take up a significant part of our internal dialogue with ourselves (our ego self attempting to influence or convince our Soul and Spirit self), during waking moments. They may be quite fragile and will often shatter on the rocks of various uncooperative people whom you, perhaps somewhat unwisely, based the realization of the Dream upon. Their fragility is due to the fact that others have their own Dreams as well and, it is rare indeed when their Dream totally coincides with yours. Others can live In our Dreams but, they cannot Live our Dreams… nor we theirs.
These are our predominantly Conscious Dreams. They inhabit the surface areas of our perception, but can occasionally parallel and overlap with segments of the Dream I like to call the Soul's Dream…

The Soul Dream is not dependent on others cooperating with me to make it happen, but rather me co-operating with God to allow it to unfold in such a way that it truly fulfills my soul's genuine yearnings. “What would I wish to do for the world to make it a better place for everyone… if only it was possible… if only I could.” (…often expressed as, “…if only it wasn't Impossible.”)
It is the Dream that we so often “let die” though, in reality we send it into hibernation, for it is a Dream that will not die… that cannot die. It is too infused within us… ingrained into who we are as a personality… for it to ever expire completely. It will surface unbidden from time to time even if we attempt to keep it submerged where it cannot leave us open to potential failures or mistakes.
The Soul Dream requires the active exercise of Genuine Personal Faith. Faith in the Goodness and Value of our Dream, and Faith also that God will help us to accomplish it's realization because it Does have Goodness and Value… if only we will allow God's Will to unfold it for us. God was after all an integral part of your Dream's birth.
We must take the steps toward it, but then allow God to guide the outcome of our efforts. It may not look quite like we expected it would during it's unfolding. But then we have not the Vision nor Wisdom of God to discern the perfect path toward the realization of The Dream we hold lovingly within our soul.

Remember the Dream?
It is Never too late to take one more step towards it. The most important step is the very Next one.

*******************************************
The Prayer
**********
Dear God,
I trust Your Vision of my Dream more than my own… well… at least as Much as my own. <smile>
