We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true.

Quotes

(From: Izaak Walton (1593 - 1683 )
God has two dwellings: one in heaven, and the other in a meek and thankful heart.

(From: “Jesus” - The Urantia Book - Paper-146 Section-2)
“It is a good thing to give thanks to the Lord and to sing praises to the name of the Most High, to acknowledge his loving-kindness every morning and his faithfulness every night, for God has made me glad through his work. In everything I will give thanks according to the will of God.”

(From: Thomas a Kempis (1380 - 1471 )
Be thankful for the least gift, so shalt thou be meant to receive greater.

(From: Terry Lynn Taylor )
Gratitude is our most direct line to God and the angels. If we take the time, no matter how crazy and troubled we feel, we can find something to be thankful for.

(From: Albert Schweitzer (1875 - 1965 )
In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

(From: “Jesus” - The Urantia Book - Paper-146 Section-2)
And then Jesus said: "Be not constantly overanxious about your common needs. Be not apprehensive concerning the problems of your earthly existence, but in all these things by prayer and supplication, with the spirit of sincere thanksgiving, let your needs be spread out before your Father who is in heaven."

(From: Sarah Ban Breathnach )
Every time we remember to say "thank you," we experience nothing less than heaven on earth.

(From: Meister Eckhart)
If the only prayer you ever say in your whole life is "thank you," that would suffice.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-131 Section-10)
I will every day thank God for his unspeakable gifts; I will praise him for his wonderful works to the children of men. To me he is the Almighty, the Creator, the Power, and the Mercy, but best of all, he is my spirit Father, and as his earth child I am sometime going forth to see him.

(From: William Arthur Ward )
God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say "thank you"?

For Everyone in my life...
For all that I have been shown...

Dear God,

Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within. You are the Temple. You are the Congregation. Any and All Truth is the Gospel. The Divine Spirit within you is your True Minister.

Don't ever think that you can completely get away from them...

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #942, is Changes…

********************************************
Quotes
*******
(From: The RSV Bible - Corinthians I 15:51)
Lo! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

(From: The Tao Te Ching - #74 )
If you realize that all things change,
there is nothing you will try to hold on to.
If you aren't afraid of dying,
there is nothing you can't achieve.

(From: Andy Warhol (1928 - 1987 )
They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.

(From: Ali Vincent)
Big, sweeping life changes really boil down to small, everyday decisions.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-132 Section-3)
Truth cannot be defined with words, only by living. Truth is always more than knowledge. Knowledge pertains to things observed, but truth transcends such purely material levels in that it consorts with wisdom and embraces such imponderables as human experience, even spiritual and living realities. Knowledge originates in science; wisdom, in true philosophy; truth, in the religious experience of spiritual living. Knowledge deals with facts; wisdom, with relationships; truth, with reality values.
Man tends to crystallize science, formulate philosophy, and dogmatize truth because he is mentally lazy in adjusting to the progressive struggles of living, while he is also terribly afraid of the unknown. Natural man is slow to initiate changes in his habits of thinking and in his techniques of living.
Revealed truth, personally discovered truth, is the supreme delight of the human soul; it is the joint creation of the material mind and the indwelling spirit. The eternal salvation of this truth-discerning and beauty-loving soul is assured by that hunger and thirst for goodness which leads this mortal to develop a singleness of purpose to do the Father's will, to find God and to become like him. There is never conflict between true knowledge and truth. There may be conflict between knowledge and human beliefs, beliefs colored with prejudice, distorted by fear, and dominated by the dread of facing new facts of material discovery or spiritual progress.

(From: Hugh Prather)
Just when I think I have learned the way to live, life changes and I am left the same. The more things change the more I am the same. I am what I started with, and when it is all over I will be all that is left of me.

(From: Harrison Ford (1942 - )
We all have big changes in our lives that are more or less a second chance.

(From: Bob Dylan (1941 - ), "To Ramona")
Everything passes. Everything changes. Just do what you think you should do.

(From: Anatole France (1844 - 1924 )
He who lives little, changes little.

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
Changes happen with or without our active cooperation.

Doing nothing can not inhibit Changes from happening. Neither will fighting against Changes prevent their occurrence... only will it create a disturbance in ones life.

When we choose to objectively observe and participate in the inescapable unfolding Changes that living brings about, we can hardly be caught completely unaware of what is taking place... And, we may very well be able to help the Changes to come about in a Better way than they could have without our contribution.

When we are seeking God's Will, Changes are inevitable. Discovering God's Will necessarily Changes our perceptions. Embracing God's Will always Changes our lives for the better.

Let God help you with all of life's unavoidable Changes. Or, better Yet... you help God with them!

(From: UNICEF, "The State of the World's Children" (1995 )
Unless the investment in children is made, all of humanity's most fundamental long-term problems will remain fundamental long-term problems.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-84 Section-7)
...the security of civilization itself still rests on the growing willingness of one generation to invest in the welfare of the next and future generations.

(From: Albert Schweitzer (1875 - 1965 )

(From: Anonymous)
Practicing the Golden Rule is not a sacrifice; it is an investment.

(From: Thomas Sowell (1930 - )
Politeness and consideration for others is like investing pennies and getting dollars back.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-176 Section-3)
`Lord, you gave me five talents to invest, and I am glad to present five other talents as my gain.' And then his lord said to him: `Well done, good and faithful servant, you have been faithful over a few things; I will now set you as steward over many; enter forthwith into the joy of your lord.'

(From: Benjamin Franklin (1706 - 1790 )
If a man empties his purse into his head no one can take it away from him. An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.

(From: Sidney Madwed )
If you want to be truly successful invest in yourself to get the knowledge you need to find your unique factor. When you find it and focus on it and persevere your success will blossom.

(From: Will - 9/14/93– the Tallahassee TeaM)
Most things easily come by are not worth much more than the time spent attaining them. More to the point, if something is worthy of our attainment, it is also worthy of our investment of time. Or put another way, things gotten too easily, oft times are not of much value; leastwise as pertains to our spiritual growth.

(From: Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862)
Goodness is the only investment that never fails.

  1. (From: Elyon - 8/30/98 – The North Idaho TeaM)
Spiritual investment has no lag factor in its rewards. How you apply yourself today rewards you today. True, it may require an interval of time before your mind acknowledges, becomes aware of, your reward. But on the level of soul, in association with the Father's Spirit, you have what you invest in now. In a sense, you reap as you sow.

(From: Abraham 9/16/02 – the Woods Cross TeaM)
True happiness lies in the investment of the spiritual life.

...sometimes your most disappointing disappointments have become your greatest blessings. Sometimes the planting of a seed necessitates its death, the death of your fondest hopes, before it can be reborn to bear the fruits of new life and new opportunity.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-108 Section-6)
You humans have begun an endless unfolding of an almost infinite panorama, a limitless expanding of never-ending, ever-widening spheres of opportunity for exhilarating service, matchless adventure, sublime uncertainty, and boundless attainment.

(From: Robert Collier )
The great thing is the start - to see an opportunity for service, and to start doing it...

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-25 Section-4)
As you journey toward your Paradise goal, constantly acquiring added knowledge and enhanced skill, you are continuously afforded the opportunity to give out to others the wisdom and experience you have already accumulated; all the way in to Havona you enact the role of a pupil-teacher. You will work your way through the ascending levels of this vast experiential university by imparting to those just below you the new-found knowledge of your advancing career. In the universal regime you are not reckoned as having possessed yourself of knowledge and truth until you have demonstrated your ability and your willingness to impart this knowledge and truth to others.

If we have the opportunity to be generous with our hearts, ourselves, we have no idea of the depth and breadth of love's reach.

(From: Sally Koch )
Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.

(From: Ellen Metcalf )
You have to recognize when the right place and the right time fuse and take advantage of that opportunity. There are plenty of opportunities out there. You can't sit back and wait.

(From: Eric Schmidt )
Success is really about being ready for the good opportunities that come before you. It's not to have a detailed plan of everything that you're going to do. You can't plan innovation or inspiration, but you can be ready for it, and when you see it, you can jump on it.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-32 Section-5)
There is in the mind of God a plan which embraces every creature of all his vast domains, and this plan is an eternal purpose of boundless opportunity, unlimited progress, and endless life. And the infinite treasures of such a matchless career are yours for the striving!

(From: David Sarnoff )
Success, in a generally accepted sense of the term, means the opportunity to experience and to realize to the maximum the forces that are within us.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-146 Section-2)
Jesus taught his followers that, when they had made their prayers to the Father, they should remain for a time in silent receptivity to afford the indwelling spirit the better opportunity to speak to the listening soul.

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
What if you could have an Opportunity to be with God right now... right here... right where you are... Alive and well... Would you Take it?

Who wouldn't right? Like, Duh!

And yet, in every moment of every day we each Truly Have that Opportunity and seldom take full advantage of it. Could it be that we don't fully believe it? Perhaps we attempted it a few times and didn't really get the results we thought we should. Maybe in the clamor of daily survival we just Forget to take the Opportunity that is there right in our hearts and Souls. I wonder why that is sometimes... don't you?

Whenever we have an Opportunity to feel Truth, witness Beauty, experience Goodness, receive or share Love... God is With us. God Shares all of these things with us... do we often enough remember to share them with God? Life is Truly more Fun and more Rewarding when we do so. Remember as a child when a parent or loved one did something enjoyable for or with you, how good it felt and how Thankful you were. Are you as Thankful to God for those times, or do you take them for granted?

Our Divine Parent is our Greatest Opportunity!

Just a little something to think about on this Sunday before Thanksgiving

(The Parrot)

A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. John tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to 'clean up' the bird's vocabulary.

Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back.

John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even more rude.

John, in desperation, threw up his hand, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed.
Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute.

Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out onto John's outstretched arms and said. "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior."

John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the bird
spoke-up, very softly, "May I ask what the turkey did?"

(From: Abraham 12/23/2012 – the Woods Cross TeaM)
When you can keep the Father's will at the forefront of your thinking then is the spirit going to overcome the worries of the mind, the pain of the body. We see in some cultures that there is such mindal training that many things can be withstood, it is a real occurrence. When you can keep your mind on Father, peace follows. Let us celebrate this season with the motivation of better communication with our Father. Allow His peace to cure worrisome ailments and irritations. It is the season to show your faith is alive in a simple way.

(From: Amanda Bradley )
“Celebrate the happiness that friends are always giving, make every day a holiday and celebrate just living!”

(From: Machiventa Melchizedek - 7/6/01– the TeaM Snowbird Conference)
Let us celebrate not only what we have achieved so far but what we know what we can achieve together in the future.

(From: Will 11/3/96 – the Tallahassee TeaM)
Celebrate your lives. Enjoy even the adversities. Count on everything to work for the best. That is my message for tonight. Go forth this week with the knowledge that the Father loves you more than you could ever know. Take that knowledge and that love and give it to your compatriots and those whose paths you cross.

(From: Anthony Robbins )
