(From: Benjamin Franklin )
Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it. There is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more a man has, the more he wants. Instead of its filling a vacuum, it makes one. If it satisfies one want, it doubles and trebles that want another way. That was a true proverb of the wise man, rely upon it; "Better is little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure, and trouble therewith."

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-165 Section-4)
Take heed and keep yourselves free from covetousness; a man's life consists not in the abundance of the things which he may possess. Happiness comes not from the power of wealth, and joy springs not from riches. Wealth, in itself, is not a curse, but the love of riches many times leads to such devotion to the things of this world that the soul becomes blinded to the beautiful attractions of the spiritual realities of the kingdom of God on earth and to the joys of eternal life in heaven.

(From: George Sand )
Guard well within yourself that treasure, kindness. Know how to give without hesitation, how to lose without regret, how to acquire without meanness.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-165 Section-5)
You have laid up your treasures where the purse waxes not old, where no thief can despoil, and where no moth can destroy. And as I told the people, where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

(From: Miguel De Cervantes, Don Quixote de la Mancha )
When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies? Perhaps to be too practical may be madness. To surrender dreams, this may be madness. To seek treasures where there is only trash...Too much sanity may be madness, and maddest of all is to see life as it is and not as it should be.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-140 Section-8)
Jesus frequently warned his listeners against covetousness, declaring that “a man's happiness consists not in the abundance of his material possessions.” He constantly reiterated, “What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul?” He made no direct attack on the possession of property, but he did insist that it is eternally essential that spiritual values come first.

(From: Samuel Johnson (1709 - 1784 )
Mankind have a great aversion to intellectual labor; but even supposing knowledge to be easily attainable, more people would be content to be ignorant than would take even a little trouble to acquire it.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-1 Section-0)
...“Be you perfect, even as I am perfect.”...
This magnificent and universal injunction to strive for the attainment of the perfection of divinity is the first duty, and should be the highest ambition, of all the struggling creature creation of the God of perfection. This possibility of the attainment of divine perfection is the final and certain destiny of all man's eternal spiritual progress.
... mortals can hardly hope to be perfect in the infinite sense, but it is entirely possible for human beings, starting out as they do on this planet, to attain the supernal and divine goal which the infinite God has set for mortal man; and when they do achieve this destiny, they will, in all that pertains to self-realization and mind attainment, be just as replete in their sphere of divine perfection as God himself is in his sphere of infinity and eternity. Such perfection may not be universal in the material sense, unlimited in intellectual grasp, or final in spiritual experience, but it is final and complete in all finite aspects of divinity of will, perfection of personality motivation, and God-consciousness.

(From: Vince Lombardi)
We will chase perfection, and we will chase it relentlessly, knowing all the while it can never be attained. But along the way we Shall catch Excellence.

(From: Dr. Smiley Blanton )
The truth is that all of us attain the greatest success and happiness possible in this life whenever we use our native capacities to their greatest extent.

(From: Helen Keller (1880 - 1968 )
Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-5 Section-1)
Therefore settle in your philosophy now and forever: To each of you and to all of us, God is approachable, the Father is attainable, the way is open; the forces of divine love and the ways and means of divine administration are all interlocked in an effort to facilitate the advancement of every worthy intelligence of every universe to the Paradise presence of the Universal Father.

(From: “Jesus” - The Urantia Book - Paper-142 Section-5)
“If you do the will of the Father in heaven, you shall never fail in the attainment of the eternal life of progress in the divine kingdom.”

(From: Lord Newborough )
Vigorous let us be in attaining our ends, and mild in our method of attainment.

(From: Saint Bernard (1090 - 1153 )
It is no great thing to be humble when you are brought low; but to be humble when you are praised is a great and rare attainment.

(From: Gandhi (1869 - 1948 )
The outward freedom that we shall attain will only be in exact proportion to the inward freedom to which we may have grown at a given moment. And if this is a correct view of freedom, our chief energy must be concentrated on achieving reform from within.
(From: Samuel Smiles )
Where there is a will there is a way," is an old and true saying. He who resolves upon doing a thing, by that very resolution often scales the barriers to it, and secures its achievement. To think we are able, is almost to be so - to determine upon attainment is frequently attainment itself.

(From: Abigail Adams (1744 - 1818 )
Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence.

(From: Kahlil Gibran (1883 - 1931 )
The significance of a man is not in what he attains, but rather what he longs to attain.

(From: Douglas Lurtan )
When you determine what you want, you have made the most important decision of your life. You have to know what you want in order to attain it.

(From: Norman Douglas )
Has any man ever attained to inner harmony by pondering the experience of others? Not since the world began! He must pass through fire.

(From: Marie Curie (1867 - 1934 )
Life is not easy for any of us, but what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted in something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained.

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
Attainment is the Value of life.
Attainment is the Fun of life.

Attainment is the Incentive of life.
Attainment is the Purpose of life.

The statistics on sanity is that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends - if they're all okay, then guess who the crazy one is?

Greetings my Beloved Sisters and Brothers, and welcome once again to the Church that is Within. You are the Temple. You are the Congregation. Any and All Truth is the Gospel. The Divine Spirit within you is your True Minister.

How much of what you are told, do you believe?

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
"You can't change the World."
"The world is what it is."
"Quit dreaming."
"What can One person do?"

Anybody ever say those things to You?
Did you believe them?

Do you think anybody ever said those kinds of things to Jesus, or Francis of Assisi, or Michelangelo, or Abraham Lincoln, or Nicola Tesla, or Albert Einstein, or Gandhi, or Mother Theresa?
I'm pretty sure that Every One of them had similar things spoken to them... probably frequently.

None of them believed it apparently... I wonder why not.

I think it's something they all had inside of them... within them. Exactly what they needed. The same thing we All need...

(From: the Beatles)
All you need is Love…..

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-47 Section-6)
A new social order is being introduced, one based on the understanding sympathy of mutual appreciation, the unselfish love of mutual service, and the overmastering motivation of the realization of a common and supreme destiny--the Paradise goal of worshipful and divine perfection. Ascenders are all becoming self-conscious of God-knowing, God-revealing, God-seeking, and God-finding.

(From: the Beatles )
All you need is Love…..

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-102 Section-7)
The intellectual earmark of religion is certainty; the philosophical characteristic is consistency; the social fruits are love and service.

(From: the Beatles )
All you need is Love…..

(From: The RSV Bible - Romans 12:6-18 )
Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; he who teaches, in his teaching; he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who contributes, in liberality; he who gives aid, with zeal; he who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with brotherly affection; outdo one another in showing honor. Never flag in zeal, be aglow with the Spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; never be conceited. Repay no one evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends upon you, live peaceably with all.

(From: the Beatles )
All you need is Love…..

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-140 Section-4)
Strong characters are not derived from not doing wrong but rather from actually doing right. Unselfishness is the badge of human greatness. The highest levels of self-realization are attained by worship and service. The happy and effective person is motivated, not by fear of wrongdoing, but by love of right doing.

(From: the Beatles )
All you need is Love…..

(From: “Fruits of the Spirit” – edited by Angus Bowen and Karen O'Dell )
"Service is a gift. It has been seen as a duty, an obligation, a requirement, -but in truth it is a service that you do for the Master in doing for his children. Loving service is not a labor of woe
but a labor of love. There is no sense of obligation, for these acts of love are done, these gifts are given, these services are rendered willingly. When your offering is done in love and willingly, it is a manifestation of your relationship with the First Source and Center who willingly serves you."

(From: the Beatles )
All you need is Love…..

(From: Ruth Benedict )
“The happiest excitement in life is to be convinced that one is fighting for all one is worth on behalf of some clearly seen and deeply felt good.”

(From: the Beatles )
All you need is Love…..

(From: The Tao Te Ching - # 67)
Some say that my teaching is nonsense. Others call it lofty but impractical. But to those who have looked inside themselves, this nonsense makes perfect sense. And to those who put it into practice, this loftiness has roots that go deep.

(From: the Beatles )
…..Love is All you need.

Nothing is as important to you as...

The topic of today's Sunday Service, #992, is Your Religion…

Quotes
*******
(From: The Tao Te Ching - #72 )
When they lose their sense of awe, people turn to religion. When they no longer trust themselves, they begin to depend upon authority.

(From: "St. George and the Dragon" by Edward Hays)
"Perhaps only a personal religion, the result of a religious experience that is wholly one's own, is truly alive. Only such an experience-fed religion has the power to electrify the imagination and to breathe fire into junk! Who knows, George, maybe the true Church is only a holy umbrella linking together a multitude of uniquely personal religions which have arisen from deep prayer, faith and listening hearts. Imagine countless personal religions in harmony with the Way, but with their own sacraments, rituals and feast days! A belief based on someone else's experience of God may be commendable, but are secondhand religions ever truly dynamic or redemptive? I believe that each person is intended to experience God firsthand and to live out what has been seen and felt."

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-195 Section-9)
The world needs more firsthand religion. Even Christianity--the best of the religions of the twentieth century--is not only a religion about Jesus, but it is so largely one which men experience secondhand. They take their religion wholly as handed down by their accepted religious teachers. What an awakening the world would experience if it could only see Jesus as he really lived on earth and know, firsthand, his life-giving teachings ! Descriptive words of things beautiful cannot thrill like the sight thereof, neither can creedal words inspire men's souls like the experience of knowing the presence of God. But expectant faith will ever keep the hope-door of man's soul open for the entrance of the eternal spiritual realities of the divine values of the worlds beyond.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-195 Section-10)
Ecclesiasticism is at once and forever incompatible with that living faith, growing spirit, and firsthand experience of the faith-comrades of Jesus in the brotherhood of man in the spiritual association of the kingdom of heaven. The praiseworthy desire to preserve traditions of past achievement often leads to the defense of outgrown systems of worship. The well-meant desire to foster ancient thought systems effectually prevents the sponsoring of new and adequate means and methods designed to satisfy the spiritual longings of the expanding and advancing minds of modern men.

(From: The RSV Bible - Galatians 3:4-5)
Did you experience so many things in vain? --if it really is in vain. Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith?

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-131 Section-3)
"Cheerfulness and gladness are the rewards of deeds well done and to the glory of the Immortal. No man can rob you of the liberty of your own mind. When the faith of your religion has emancipated your heart, when the mind, like a mountain, is settled and immovable, then shall the peace of the soul flow tranquilly like a river of waters. Those who are sure of salvation are forever free from lust, envy, hatred, and the delusions of wealth. While faith is the energy of the better life, nevertheless, must you work out your own salvation with perseverance. If you would be certain of your final salvation, then make sure that you sincerely seek to fulfill all righteousness. Cultivate the assurance of the heart which springs from within and thus come to enjoy the ecstasy of eternal salvation.

*******************************************
The Sermon
***********
How is your religion doing for you?

Is it bringing you Peace? Are you becoming more confident all the time that God is at work in your life... providing only good if you will allow it? Do you feel fully assured that choosing God's Will, will bring you the greatest happiness and sense of fulfillment?

If so, Excellent! I sincerely applaud you... Your Religion is serving you Quite well indeed!

How is your religion doing for you right Now??

Does there seem to be too much confusion? Are you struggling uncomfortably with worries of what you think could go wrong at every turn of events? Does what you want seem to conflict with what you think God might want?

If so, don't Worry too much about it! That only makes it seem a lot worse than it has to be... than it truly Is. Rather, step Forward with an open Mind and an open Heart. Look Openly at what makes you uncomfortable... see honestly what about it troubles your heart. Then seek for a way to understand how to let God's will transform it into new learning and personal growth.

See what Wondrous things can transpire in your life when you do not cling too desperately to your own notions of what will happen in any given situation. Proceed with determination towards a goal! Instead of being disappointed and stressed when things seem to swerve away from what you might have intended, look for how the "turn of events" may possibly better your understanding of a higher and even more Satisfying Goal... your inner deepest desire, that which you would truly wish to do for the world if only you could... if only it was possible... if only God would let you... if only You would let your Self... if only you would let God work unhampered by your doubts, from within you. Trouble yourself not with a fear of what is yet unknown... the fear does not serve you but weakens your resolve to discover new understanding of yourself and your Divine Purpose... your Divine Destiny... your Greatest Happiness.

Make yourself believe that God wants only what is Best for you. Then act as if you know that it is so. For certainly... it IS so.

*******************************************
