Greetings my Dearest Sisters and Brothers, and welcome again to Church Within's Story of the Week ["SOW Seeds]

I received this Year's Christmas Story in late December of '99… just minutes after I had already sent the weeks story out… too late to use for Christmas '99, as Much as I would have Loved to. Last year I couldn't find it and used another. As Luck (Synchronicity actually) would have it, I Found it again… just in time for This Year's Christmas Story! Accident? I Doubt it. Thanks dear sister for the Great Story!

Christmas Spirit

A true story…

We had been talking about not getting a tree for the last few weeks, because I have no stuff to put on one, no stand, etc.... Well, actually I do, the stuff is at my ex-husbands house, but he won't even let me come out and get the rest of my clothes, let alone "our" Christmas stuff.

Well, I explained to the 4 girls, that if I didn't use the money on a tree, I could I spend the rest on their Christmas presents. And besides, they will be at their dad's Christmas Eve anyway, and then at my house for only a few hours before we go to Grammas house, and both of those places will have trees. So with wounded hearts they all agreed.

Last weekend, Janna, babysat for a neighbor for $25 and then worked raking a whole yard for $35. Then, that wonderfully unselfish child spent her hard earned money on a 2 and 1/2 foot fake tree for us with trimmings, lights for the window, and a door cover!! Gramma did help out with the lights and ornaments… some things she doesn't use anymore. MADE ME CRY!!!!

There just aren't a lot of 13 year old kids out there that would spend their hard earned money on the spirit of Christmas for their family. Heck, there aren't' a lot of adults that would do such a thing. It was received so warmly by her sisters. They recognized that this deed came entirely from Janna's heart and thanked her from theirs. My little Leela, 3 years old, even said, "Janna, I will never be mean to you again." She told them, it was pretty much going to be her only present to them from her. They all just hugged her and told her how wonderful they thought the tiny tree was.

I will put that little tree up until the day I die, as a reminder to myself, what a true wonder, what a loving gift WE receive, in our very own CHILDREN!
