Story of the Week
Heavy Steps
(By Ettarose Lazaros - ettaroselazaros@yahoo.com)

Perseverance is an admirable quality. It is especially revered when it is someone else who is doing the persevering.

Look at my toddler. He never gives up trying to walk. Here is a body that is weighted down at the bottom with diapers. Being bottom heavy, makes it difficult to stand up after falling down. Yet, he does not give up. He finds something to grab on to for support, then with all his might, raises that heavy bottom off the floor.

He cautiously places one foot in front of the other, then he is off. There is no looking back and no worrying about his next step. He is only concerned with where he is going. He falls along the way, but does not stay down for very long. He is up and wobbling along as his diaper squeaks with every step. The sound of each squeaky step is a lesson in perseverance.

It is too bad that, as adults, we lose some of that perseverance. Often, we are afraid to take that first step. Instead of thinking of where we need to be, we worry about how we are going to get there. Our lack of faith often prevents us from taking the next step.

Instead of praying for strength and guidance, we dwell on the "ifs." Imagine if we could have the faith to take the steps to use our God-given talents, whether or not the load is heavy.

Pastor's Quote of the Week
Then said Jesus: "If you would serve me, serve my brethren in the flesh even as I have served you. And be not weary in this well-doing but persevere as one who has been ordained by God for this service of love. When you have finished your service with me on earth, you shall serve with me in glory.

(From: The Urantia Book - Paper-192 Section-2)

The Prayer
Dear God,
Of all the things that I may think that I want, please give me only those things that You know I truly need.

You ALL are Within the Infinitely Loving Embrace of our Universal Parent,

The Creator's Eternal Love to all of You,
Pastor Daniel
