"The Master's Bedroom"
(Author Unknown)

There was a very rich man who lived in a very large house with very many servants. The servants all knew their duty. If they had any questions, they could always approach the master directly (if necessary). Everyone was content. The household was harmonious.

One day, the master departed on journey. Before going, he gave detailed instructions to each servant and left a written copy of all his instructions in the master's bedroom.

Everything went smoothly at first. Whenever any servant had a question about her/his duty or responsibility, s/he would enter the master's bedroom to review the instructions.

But time went on and the master did not return. Some servants declared themselves as the master's representatives for interpreting the meaning and ramifications of his instructions. They also instituted some rules and restrictions regarding access to the master's bedroom, which was now locked.

More time passed without the master's return. The 'head' servants divided the rooms in the house among themselves. They even distributed the furniture. Naturally, disputes over territory and property became quite common. As to the master's bedroom, the door was not only locked but barred. Even the head servants could only come as close as the entrance and no further. Many servants had started to doubt that the door led anywhere. Some servants even doubted that there had ever been a master.

And then, finally, the master came back. Some say he had never gone far but was just watching (and judging) what happened in his apparent absence.

Dear God,
Let me Always look and listen Within for Your "still small voice"---for There is where I may always receive Your ever present Instructions.
